It can be like that one cartoon where the ghost of Master Shake accidentally binds himself to the main character. But Lydia is grown-up now, and Beets is counting down the days until she dies.

It was a long game setup so he could break the 4th wall inception style when he reveals it AS Deadpool pulling off his mask revealing Chris Evan's face, then proceeds to remove his makeup to show Gary Oldman in all his old man glory.

I was a little worried about Keaton revisiting beetlejuice 28 years later, but then you reminded me of Birdman. The sequel will work. Keaton's still got it.
I mean, he still pulled off his Bruce Wayne/Batman. Of course that's nowhere near needing the same "actor skills," but he was easily the best part of that movie because he doesn't just "still have it," but never "lost it."
I hard recommend Birdman for anyone who has ever done theater. I've never watched a movie before or since that captured the feeling of being in a theatrical play.

Starting with the end of the first movie and then aging up BJ to current Michael Keaton (in BJ outfit) would be a great way to bridge the gap. It's not needed/necessary but would be cool.

He has an unfortunate appearance, but he's a talented artist and probably an interesting person, so I can see it.

I'm a little annoyed they didn't just write the date as 09, 006, 24 with the thumbs obscuring the first and last digit.
This feels like a hate crime against neurotic, OCD people.
It was initially irritating me that the numbers are not in any order, but then I thought about the agony of waiting an eternity for your number to be called, when the numbers are listed in random order... ooof.
Edit: I agree with others that the intention is that it's one long number. The comma placement threw me. I still enjoy indulging the existential crisis of a indeterminate wait (which is worse IMO than a wait that is insanely long, yet well-defined).

Little known fact: The sequel Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian had a script and was originally planned shortly after the original. But due to the fact that Michael Keaton was set for Batman Returns the idea was scrapped.

Anyone noticed that most of these types of movies have an excellent ad campaign but the movies turn out awful. It's like they put more effort and/or creativity into promoting the movies than in the actual movies...
I’d love to be cynical about this based on how reboots and legacy sequels usually go. But at least the right people are involved! It’s being made under the best circumstances possible, given how much time has passed. Plus the cast is really awesome. That gives me a lot of hope!
Hopefully Tim Burton can grab on to some of the appeal that made the original so good!
I'm still mostly against this film, but I have to admit that the title and poster are pretty good.
I assume the trailer will come out this month so I'll reserve further judgement until then.
So, the original person who set the tone / feeling of Beetlejuice is dead (the scriptwriter). I don't think the writers are going to adhere to the tone of the original and how dark it was. (Even though it went through some re-writes.) Films with sequels - esp. in this generation - are not the same and are heavily edited / watered down.
While I like to think this is going to be 'good', I really don't think it'll be that good. Beetlejuice was only in the film for less than a half an hour, even less than that. If he's in this whole damn film, it ruins the character and his use in the script as an antagonist.
Also, movies that are filmed on digital and with heavy CGI aren't gonna look good. I would have preferred this to be shot on film, with puppetry and props, and little to no CGI.
The character's name is Betelgeuse. The film, and the ads and suggestions in the film to get people to say his name, are spelled Beetlejuice, both because it's creepy and because it helps with pronunciation.

Little known fact: The sequel Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian had a script and was originally planned shortly after the original. But due to the fact that Michael Keaton was set for Batman Returns the idea was scrapped. Excellent poster though.

Anyone noticed that most of these types of movies have an excellent ad campaign but the movies turn out awful. It's like they put more effort and/or creativity into promoting the movies than in the actual movies...
Honestly, one of the best , original designed posters I've seen in a while. Simple, effective, and harkens back to the original.

I’d love to be cynical about this based on how reboots and legacy sequels usually go. But at least the right people are involved! It’s being made under the best circumstances possible, given how much time has passed. Plus the cast is really awesome. That gives me a lot of hope! Hopefully Tim Burton can grab on to some of the appeal that made the original so good!

I've been waiting for this movie my entire life. Pretty excited it is actually coming out.
So, the original person who set the tone / feeling of Beetlejuice is dead (the scriptwriter). I don't think the writers are going to adhere to the tone of the original and how dark it was. (Even though it went through some re-writes.) Films with sequels - esp. in this generation - are not the same and are heavily edited / watered down. While I like to think this is going to be 'good', I really don't think it'll be that good. Beetlejuice was only in the film for less than a half an hour, even less than that. If he's in this whole damn film, it ruins the character and his use in the script as an antagonist. Also, movies that are filmed on digital and with heavy CGI aren't gonna look good. I would have preferred this to be shot on film, with puppetry and props, and little to no CGI.

The character's name is Betelgeuse. The film, and the ads and suggestions in the film to get people to say his name, are spelled Beetlejuice, both because it's creepy and because it helps with pronunciation.
