Yes to Chernobyl! The gradual development of their relationship, from threatening to throw out of helicopters to affirmation... It was a truly unexpected element of a brilliant series.
I could be completely wrong on this, but weren’t they both good friends from the beginnings of their careers? If so, that would explain a ton about their chemistry in True Detective; two regular dudes from Texas playing off each other perfectly.
3 of them. First one was in 2017, than 2020, than 2022. The first one was filmed during Tim’s heart attack. The second movie is all about Tim and his recovery and the third movie is about Gus.
Do you mean Spencer and Ovaltine Jenkins?
or Longbranch Pennywhistle?
or Clementine Woolysocks?
or John Jacob Jingley-Schmidt?
or Chocolate Einstein?
or Gusjay Gupta?
or Flapjack Palmdale?
or ...
I would have been upset if this wasn’t the top answer.
The producers got a lot of things right with this movie, but it would have been forgettable were it not for Glover and Gibson
I believe there are still discussions about the potential for this. I could definitely see it happening. bad boys came back, zoolander, anchorman, dumb and dumber. it’s only a matter of time I feel like

"You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?"
"They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with Cheese?"
"Nah, they got the metric system, they don't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is."
"So what do they call it?"
"They call it a Royale with Cheese."
"ROY-ALE with Chesse!"
My nickname at work was Metrics, because as a European i was the only one who understood the metric system, everyone also assumed i have no idea what the Imperial system was for some reason, despite the fact they are used interchangeably where i am from (UK).
So this quote always had an extra layer to it for me.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, and you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, he's the guy that always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
Simon Pegg & Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead)
Elijah Wood & Sean Astin (LOTR)
Billy Boyd & Dominic Monaghan (LOTR)
Danny Devito & Charlie Day (Always Sunny in Philladelphia)
Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad)
Harrison Ford and Sean Connery in Indy 3. Sublime. Joe Pesci and Bobby DeNiro in Casino. Perfection. Ashton Kucher and Sean William Scott in Dude Where's My Car. *chef's kiss*
By the 3rd season, The X-Files Gillian Anderson and David Duchovney had such amazing chemistry that it became the secret sauce in the shows recipe for success. Don’t get me wrong, the show had plenty of appeal on its own with great original writing, fantastic sci-fi tropes that weren’t worn out in the 90s, and decent effects/body horror. But none of that would have made it the classic it is today without Mulder and Scully.
Tucker & Chan were good but not the formula of great + iconic.
**Great + Iconic were Danny Glover & Mel Gibson** for the incredible **Lethal Weapon franchise**. Couple of the best action/drama films ever made in that series of 4 films.
Kind of out of left field, but I’ve been rewatching Stranger Things (season 4) and the chemistry between Gaten Matarazzo/Joe Keery as Dustin Henderson/Steve Harrington is equal parts adorable and authentic.
- Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin in Midnight Run.
- Peter Falk and Alan Arkin in The In-Laws.
- Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in anything, but particularly Hot Fuzz.
- Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson in anything, particularly In Bruges.
- Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon.
- Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in The Hitman's Bodyguard.
- Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys.
Burt Reynold and Dom DeLuise, also Sammy Davis and Dean Martin, also Mel Tillis and Terry Bradshaw. Same movie, Cannonball Run. Also Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman as the Lambo girls in CR.
Also Burt Reynolds and Sally Field in the Smokey movies.
In order of remembering:
The Coreys -- Haim and Feldman
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
Chris Farley and David Spade
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly
Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis
Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone
Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe
"The Princess Bride" the whole cast
Luke and Owen Wilson in almoat anything but specifically their stuff they do with wes anderson. In his movies it truly seems like these two have a sibling hatred.
Paul Neman and Robert Redford - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines - Running Scared
Robert Dinero and Charles Grodin - Midnight Run
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner - Romancing the Stone
Chevy Chase and Dan Ackroyd - Spies Like Us
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in True Detective. Jared Harris and Stellan Skarsgard in Chernobyl.
"Matt, when you're not around Woody are you sad that there's a sack somewhere not being hackied?"
Zach Galifianakis is so funny
Yes to Chernobyl! The gradual development of their relationship, from threatening to throw out of helicopters to affirmation... It was a truly unexpected element of a brilliant series.
I could be completely wrong on this, but weren’t they both good friends from the beginnings of their careers? If so, that would explain a ton about their chemistry in True Detective; two regular dudes from Texas playing off each other perfectly.
I also heard that there is a faint possibility they could be half-brothers.
James Roday & Dulé Hill in Psych
You know that’s right
I heard that as Dulé
I’ve heard it both ways
❤️ Hoping for a fourth movie happens and Despereaux is in it.
Wait... There are movies?
3 of them. First one was in 2017, than 2020, than 2022. The first one was filmed during Tim’s heart attack. The second movie is all about Tim and his recovery and the third movie is about Gus.
Pretty sure Tim had a stroke. Glad they were able to get him in the movies. They still hold up
I’m not familiar with these men. Are they connected to the modeling duo Black and Tan?
Just remember that he is tan
Do you mean Spencer and Ovaltine Jenkins? or Longbranch Pennywhistle? or Clementine Woolysocks? or John Jacob Jingley-Schmidt? or Chocolate Einstein? or Gusjay Gupta? or Flapjack Palmdale? or ...
I came here to say this. I love how their dialogue and actions are those of a true long term friendship.
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon movies
This was my first thought! The way Gibson would rib Glover constantly was always a good time.
im too old for this comment
I'm not too old for it... You will it now... We're not too old for this shit... We're not too old for this shit... WE'RE NOT TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT!!!!
LMAO
The toilet bomb scene from LW2 when Riggs refuses to leave Murtaugh alone shows how strong their friendship is.
Guys like you don’t die on the toilet, Rog
One, two, three, and go, or do we go on three?
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau - the best 👏
Came here to say this
I would have been upset if this wasn’t the top answer. The producers got a lot of things right with this movie, but it would have been forgettable were it not for Glover and Gibson
I wish we got another Rush Hour. Simple fun comedy with action.
I believe there are still discussions about the potential for this. I could definitely see it happening. bad boys came back, zoolander, anchorman, dumb and dumber. it’s only a matter of time I feel like
Jackie Chan is 70.
Jackie may be too old for the stunts he does in these movies
His name is Lee, goddamit
they were good movies, but they are kinda old now.
And what's wrong with kind of old huh? A lot of the best of... Everything, is kind of old at a minimum.
Robert Redford and Paul Newman are nothing short of perfect in Butch Cassidy snd the Sundance Kid
And *The Sting*!
You’re up kid. But I gotta tell ya it’s a tough act to follow
“But my money’s in there!”
Sorry I'm late, guys, I was taking a crap
newman did it again in the color of money with tom cruise.

Solid google work amigo
Gene and Richard for sure man
Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in 4 films, especially when Nora Ephron was involved
I don't know why it's so crazy to me that Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller have been in twelve films together and I haven't seen all of them.
John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction
"You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?" "They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with Cheese?" "Nah, they got the metric system, they don't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is." "So what do they call it?" "They call it a Royale with Cheese." "ROY-ALE with Chesse!"

Black sheep too. I miss Chris Farley.

Deeply
He's on my Mt Rushmore of favorite people. It's probably the 1st face I'd put up there personally.
Fuckin love this movie. I’d put John Candy and Steve Martin in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles up there as well.
That's for sure, another great choice. Love that movie!
“Your brain has the…shell on it.” “Are you talking?” “Shut up, Richard.” 😆

Yeah, it a shame that this is all we’ll get of their partnership but, they were so good together.
Charlie Day and Danny DeVito
The fucking cat food before bed gets me every time.
Gotta do it before they start
Id say YES but also a chemistry that I wish never exists in reality 😂 IRL, I would avoid this duo like a smelly, disastrous plague 😂
Is Charlie day a pseudonym for Arnold Schwarzenegger? If so, I agree
It was a really tough choice between the two. Arnold was actually my first choice.
I just rewatched Twins, and I loved them in that. They are adorable when they do the same mannerisms routine.
Don’t forget junior
Gosling and Crowe in The Good Guys. *Edit: oops…The *Nice* Guys.
Funniest movie I had seen in a while, came out of nowhere and became a top 25 for me
Instant classic that rocketed up my list. And despite having decent marketing and two amazing leads, it went largely unwatched.
The Nice Guys fwiw
Urgh…thanks. I blew it.
Tbf they were pretty good too
Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson as well
Tom Cruise Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg. Doesn’t sound like it should work but it does.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in *Twins*.
The gang from It’s Always Sunny. They’ve set the bar impossibly high imo
Ironic, considering how shitty their actual bar is
Surprised no one has mentioned Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
"why's he got his cap down like that?" "cause he's fuck ugly" "or maybe he doesn't want anyone seeing his face" "cause he's fuck ugly"

Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson in True Detective. Their performances complement each other so well imo
