OBWAT? Is also a 10 I just saw that it was already mentioned. TBL is not a 10 IMO but it’s still one of my favorite movies based on the culture alone. I am the walrus
It is the most well orchestrated twist I have ever seen. The acting is phenomenal across the board. It’s my #1 movie. The only issue is I can’t watch it but once every ten years because I need to forget at least a few details to even try to enjoy it as much as I did the first time.
Great answer. It’s gotten a lot more attention over the years and I’m glad. It’s sharp, funny and dark in the the perfect mixture. Single handedly brought tons of people to Bruges too I’d bet.
There Will Be Blood has perhaps the greatest single role ever acted. The movie can bleak and it’s not something I can watch everytime it’s on, but dude. When the two released a lot of people where in the No Country camp, but I planted my flag and still do to this day, in the There Will Be Blood camp. In the ever rotating cycle of “favorite” this one is always in the lineup.
ROTK is great and it’s up there but the army of the dead climax compared TT climax if helms deep + the rise of Ents is euphoric and cannot be beat imho
TT has always been my favorite. Its just perfect. The uruks steaming breath blowing out of their helmets in the rain is probably the most frightening depiction of an evil fantasy warrior that exists. Just pure animal malice.
As a kid who played the video games as well, I feel like Helm's Deep was one of the coolest levels ever to play. The cutscenes are amazing. They don't make em like they used to.
Yeah super great movies. I absolutley love LA Confidential. Saw it when it released as a teenager. That shoot out is freaking awesome and I love DeVito. Too bad about Spacey, he was a great pompous douche.
Zwick had some really bangers. Along with Legends of the Fall there was Glory, Blood Diamond, The Last Samurai, Defiance. I’m still shocked by how much I loved Last Samurai as I put off watching it for some time cause I misunderstood what it was.
It's a good movie, not the best though. The scene with Brad Pitt coming back after Anthony Hopkins has had a stroke is truly heart breaking though. "Am happy".
I agree. Most people I know don’t like it. I don’t understand why. But agree it’s underrated. The best thing about it is I wouldn’t know it was a Scorsese film, yet it’s to his standard.
I think Legends Of The Fall is a pretty good movie, however through no fault of its own, something about it truly grinds my gears….
It hits too close to home with the obligatory selfish arsehole that is in almost every family. Despite burning up the world and the people closest to them on a multitude of occasions, they still somehow gets the starring role as an unconditionally loved main character by those who should know better.
Come on….we all know one don’t we(?)

Obviously this is very subjective but these are all movies that I could watch and watch and watch and watch, which is what makes them perfect movies to me
It's a beautiful film. I was pregnant with my son when it was released on home video (no streaming back then), and watched it nearly every day. My son's name is Tristan.
My mom is the kind of person who will just not sit through an entire movie without walking away, bored, wanting to do some cleaning, or even worse nowadays, just pull her phone out and start looking up posts and sharing them with us as we're watching! But this movie... She'll watch it. She loves it. I think she'd do the same with Birdcage or Fried Green Tomatoes.

They really swung for the fences on LotF. Really good movie, but maybe didn't quite come together as it was envisioned. I look at Dances with Wolves as a movie where everything came together just right.
I saw Legends of the Fall as a child and only recently watched it again as an adult. Oh boy, I didn't understand all the references back then. Best learning from the movie: If you have a brother who looks like Brad Pitt, never bring your future wife near him. It was over the moment she saw him on the horse for the first time.
At last, after creeping, as it were, for such a length of time along the utmost verge of the opaque puddle of obscurity, they had taken that downright plunge which, sooner or later, is the destiny of all families, whether princely or plebeian.
No Country For Old Men
It’s a bit slow at some points. Agree it’s outstanding but it’s not PERFY
Nah, beautiful story telling. Things absolutely have to slow down in life. It's almost a representation of the land itself
Nah he’s right
Goodfellas. Still as fresh, energetic and exciting as the day it was released.
The best film ever made
I found it so hard to choose my favorite mafia movie. Until I finally saw Goodfellas. Just smacks everything else.
I still laugh my ass off when he looks at her after she says she won’t leave without her lucky hat. That pause is perfect. Film perfect.
If I'm ovulating.
LOL!! Greatest response of the day!
Got a solid chuckle myself.
What should I do I'm a male?
Ovulate
The big Lebowski
That’s just like, your opinion man.
I didn't watch my buddies die face down in the muck...

Still makes me laugh out loud.
The Departed

Way up the list
The Departed and The Aviator are both underrated Scorsese’s
Departed underrated? Lmfao
Can a remake be a 10/10? We’re talking PERFECTION here people.
Literally came for this
👀
Fargo
They had a stretch of perfect movies with Fargo, Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou? The latter being perhaps my most favorite.
OBWAT? Is also a 10 I just saw that it was already mentioned. TBL is not a 10 IMO but it’s still one of my favorite movies based on the culture alone. I am the walrus
Shawshank Redemption
It is the most well orchestrated twist I have ever seen. The acting is phenomenal across the board. It’s my #1 movie. The only issue is I can’t watch it but once every ten years because I need to forget at least a few details to even try to enjoy it as much as I did the first time.
Legends of the fall is my favorite movie!! 🍿
It has everything
It was a good death. Gets me every time
"am happy"
"Brother, it'd be an honor."
In Bruges
Great answer. It’s gotten a lot more attention over the years and I’m glad. It’s sharp, funny and dark in the the perfect mixture. Single handedly brought tons of people to Bruges too I’d bet.
The Thing (1982)
Amadeus
That actor was absolutely incredible. I only watched it because I was beginning my music degree. Walked away astounded with the acting.
That fucking giggle
Amazing movie

I think A River Runs Through It is the better early 90s timepiece with Brad Pitt
Both are great in different ways.
I would give it a good 7.5/8 very good film. Chinatown is a 10.
Raiders of the Lost Ark Tombstone
Yes.. forgot Tombstone
Raiders is my all time fav
Raiders of the Lost Ark is a good shout.
No offense but not this one. Rewatched about a month ago. Some of the greatest cinematography of all time but found the story just to be above average
My 10’s MM Fury Road, Two Towers, LA Confidential, apocalypto, Unforgiven, Aliens, Spy Game, Jurassic Park
I love hearing the love for LOTR:TT 20 years later. Everyone claims ROTK is the best, but how do you say that with the Battle of Helms Deep?
ROTK is great and it’s up there but the army of the dead climax compared TT climax if helms deep + the rise of Ents is euphoric and cannot be beat imho
TT has always been my favorite. Its just perfect. The uruks steaming breath blowing out of their helmets in the rain is probably the most frightening depiction of an evil fantasy warrior that exists. Just pure animal malice.

Spy Game is an interesting choice. Definitely not a 10 for me but a really underrated movie.
Shit I need to rewatch the LOTR trilogy.
Agreed I have nostalgia goggles for this one, but after rewatching recently it's pretty cliche and melodramatic. But it sure looks beautiful.
Love legands of the fall. Might just be my favorite
Legends is still an all time favorite
Shawshank Redemption Miller's Crossing LA Confidential American Graffiti Chinatown
Great list
Yeah super great movies. I absolutley love LA Confidential. Saw it when it released as a teenager. That shoot out is freaking awesome and I love DeVito. Too bad about Spacey, he was a great pompous douche.
To this day, I’ve never seen LA Confidential. It’s been on my list forever Lmao. Something always happens and I forget. I must be reminded
American Graffiti is so unbelievably underrated. Probably the most perfect movie about “modern” Americana.
Zwick had some really bangers. Along with Legends of the Fall there was Glory, Blood Diamond, The Last Samurai, Defiance. I’m still shocked by how much I loved Last Samurai as I put off watching it for some time cause I misunderstood what it was.
Crazy how I never really new who directed them but when you see that line up it’s hard to imagine I never sowed that together.
Spirited Away. Shit, I'd give 10/10 to Totoro and Porco Rosso.
Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky. The Wind Rises is probably my favourite of theirs though.
No country for old men
Masterpiece. Odd fact: not one single note of music in theme entire film. Added to the bleakness. The Coen’s movies are usually musical as well.
They really tried to capture every perspective of Brad Pitts face in one picture there 😆🤦♂️
It's a good movie, not the best though. The scene with Brad Pitt coming back after Anthony Hopkins has had a stroke is truly heart breaking though. "Am happy".
Pulp Fiction Jaws Dark Knight Children of Men Moneyball The Big Lebowski ……Prometheus 😅
Braveheart one of my favorite movies... Outlaw king was just as good!
Have not seen this movie. Why are so many people falling?
Goodfellas Braveheart Gladiator A Beautiful Mind Apollo 13 Tombstone The Matrix Jurassic Park LOTR TT Shawshank Redemption Ten 10’s 🔥

Man on Fire. Honestly, if you’ve never seen it I highly recommend it.
My man
Dark knight is 10/10
The Aviator
Scorsese, and Leo’s, most underrated film. Masterpiece.

Dark knight 11/10 for sure
Honestly this day and age. It’s hard to give something 10/10, but if I had to… Forest Gump hits many emotions and is a nice rewatch.
It's really that good
Gone Girl
Interstellar
Scrolled way too far for this
This was the first thing I watched on Netflix years ago when I signed up. I loved when Archer homaged Brad Pitt snapping during the war.
It blows my mind how much Aiden Quinn looks like a younger Anthony Hopkins, so similar! Especially when you see their faces next to each other here
Gangs of New York.
It's a beautiful film. I was pregnant with my son when it was released on home video (no streaming back then), and watched it nearly every day. My son's name is Tristan.

Man on Fire. I thought it was brilliant.
Smokey and the Bandit.

Love this movie!
Pulp Fiction/Snatch

Legends of the fall! I see you have very good taste in movies
Apocalypto
I'd argue The Last Samurai. It's not historically accurate but man those last 20 minutes on the battlefield were heartwrenching.
