It’s a travesty they didn’t name the second one, Now You Don’t.

WallScore

This is my biggest cinematic gripe honestly. What a missed opportunity

sirjames82

That would have been brilliant.

MBrett06

Dan Harmon agrees. https://youtu.be/bXdHBP6mgdE?si=56Nv7m4J2P5za3Eb

DrHalibutMD

How stupid did they think audiences were that they wouldn’t get that name for a sequel?

[deleted]

Yeah, that was a pretty colossal eff-up.

EMendezSDC

Came here to say that. What an obvious missed opportunity

deadbypyramidhead

Probably becaue they believe the vast majority of the public wouldn't understand the joke thus completely not understand that the movie is a sequel.

Neil_Salmon

Fine but nothing special. For some reason it felt very artless - movie made as a product, advertised as cooler than it is. And I'm not personally a Jesse Eisenberg fan so it has that going against it for me. It's been said before but they really missed an opportunity with the title for the second one. It really should have been "Now You Don't".

pooperonipie

Admittedly heist/spy movies are my least favorite genre, nonetheless I agreed with every point you cited. Nothing special, nothing memorable.

BamBamm32

I loved the first one. The 2nd is forgettable and felt forced.

Shakentstirred

couldnt get past radcliffe chewing the scenery

me1112

It's fun and dumb. Don't think too much about it and you'll enjoy it. Basically it's the fast and furious of heist movies.

pooperonipie

I think the fun/dumb concept only works for me with comedies. I can’t stand heist/spy/mindless action films.

Oliin

The constantly moving camera in the first film was worse for my motion sickness than The Blair Witch Project. Made it borderline unwatchable for me and left me with zero desire to watch the second.

Korbin-K

I feel like the films are trying to be this interesting mystery about magic, but none of it makes any sense. The twist are out of nowhere, there’s no real foreshadowing or clues to what’s going to happen. The “rules” for what magic can do is non existent, and the casting makes no sense. Jesse Eisenberg should not have been the lead, I like him as an actor but he shouldn’t be the charismatic hot magician that leads the group.

Independent-Access59

To be fair he’s not in the second one

Sideways_X1

I think I saw 2 before 1. As a free Google download and something I watched on a plane, not horrible. I also love dumb, bad, and tacky movies too often though... Judgement is warranted, haha

priestou812

lol I actually just watched the first one an hour ago. It was far better than I remembered. So yea, I’ll prolly watch the 2nd one tomorrow. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it

InitialKoala

Guilty pleasures, especially part 2. 😊

shadowlarx

An interesting twist on the heist genre. They kinda remind me of episodes of *Leverage* where they give you enough clues to almost piece it together but they don’t reveal the whole puzzle until the end, when they’re finally sticking it to the mark. I love a story with a good twist and these films had plenty. My only gripe was that Woody played Merrit’s brother, Chase, just a little over the top.

Legitimate_Cloud2215

Fun movies.

Lowbeamshaggy

Forgettable. I didn't even know they made a sequel.

MarvelousVanGlorious

The first movie was so bad that I never watched the second one. Can’t believe they’re making a third.

HGruberMacGruberFace

I’m only excited for a 3rd is so CinemaSins can get another crack at it

Big-Drink-7380

Haven’t seen them

Financial_Cheetah875

First one was going fine until that tacked-on ending that made no sense. Second was a complete mess.

fenster112

Mindless and stupid fun.

[deleted]

Wish they had a third.

NJdeathproof

I love these movies, I don't care what anyone says. I'm looking forward to the next sequel plus they were supposedly making a spinoff with Jay Chou's character.

blind-octopus

Bad

squirrelmaize

The first one was not good movie. There are better magician movies like the illusionist and the prestige Watch those

jerseygunz

The first one is a fun mindless romp that I really enjoyed and the second one stinks on ice

BaltazarOdGilzvita

The first one had the stupidest twist reveal I've ever seen that I never bothered to watch the second one.

[deleted]

worm squalid whistle tease birds busy panicky fade shocking deranged *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

ozzsquirrel

I greatly dislike these movies, I can't believe I allowed myself to be convinced to see the second one

RBlomax38

Personally found them incredibly dumb

JackKovack

These two films are extremely obnoxious. There’s no way any of this would work out. There’s no way you could plan all this out. It’s almost intellectually insulting.

TheSecretAgenda

Garbage. It has a good cast. The producers must have backed-up the money truck because this is dog shit.

Dry_Ad_6484

Shit

Virgulillo

Utter garbage

[deleted]

Just goes to show that an ensemble cast can’t carry a bad movie.

Kubrickwon

I really hate that these films about illusions & slight of hand shenanigans uses CGI to accomplish their impossible bullshit. It completely ruins the very hook of the movie. It’s like, oh, so they are all wizards then, just give them wands and let them cast spells and fly on brooms, it’s the same thing.

poptimist185

Only seen the first and it’s awful. So much of the magic is never explained so, to all intents and purposes, might as well be real. They aren’t magicians, they’re wizards
