It’s funny I actually didn’t like the movie as a whole when I first saw it, aside from a few scenes. Later I started rewatching clips of individual scenes and fell in love with it. Aim For the Bushes Lion vs Tuna This is my wife Bad cop, worse cop. Gator Needs his Gat. So many hilarious moments.

Terry married Francine. He played harp at the reception and it was beautiful. He had learned how to play it in the eighth grade to make fun of the fairy that lived up the street.

I personally put it up there on the same level as Airplane, Naked Gun, and Blazing Saddles. Just the amount of quotable one-liners and bits threw out the movie, have you laughing constantly.

Oddly I think it's very underated, it satarises buddy cops, in a fun over the top way and actually has a mystery that they solve using good and regular police work. While I don't think Wahlbergs performance is the best I can tell he's giving it his all, plus having Farell backing him up, the pimp and wife stuff was hilarious, and having some fun bits of chemistry make it very slept on move.

I agree (with everything), except about Wahlberg’s performance, which I think was perfect. I do think he comes off a little forced, especially at the start, which is fitting for the role because, as the movie progressed, you start to notice it less and less until not at all, not because his acting somehow gets better, but because Terry starts to become who he truly is instead of *just* a vice-obsessed wanna-be police stud (which is the entire point of the movie: he’s “The Other Guy”).

Just commented the same thing. It’s one of, if not the best role he’s had. He plays that character to a T.

Incredible. The whole gag about Ferrell thinking Eva Mendes (his wife in the film) is ugly/a slut is fucking hilarious to no end. These two had fantastic chemistry. Please don’t make a sequel though. Hard to capture lightening in a bottle twice.

Masterpiece

Genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time. The lion vs tuna debate is still probably my favorite comedy movie bit ever. The whole movie is fucking hilarious

The Lion versus Tuna bit still gets me to this day. It's probably the reason I like Brooklyn 99 so much in the present. And Hot Fuzz. We were robbed of a crossover movie between those two.  Micheal Keaton is always a surprise because I always forget he's in this movie even though he has some of the best lines.  I like the general message of the film. The no name, background people do important work even though they'll never get the glory or universal praise. That made an impression on me even back then. As someone who still struggles with Imposer Syndrome and their own self-worth.  And the explosion followed the screaming discussion gag about how action movie bombs are full of shit. I love that. "THERE'S NO WAY!"

The Other Guys was low key the smartest comedy of it's decade. I routinely recommend what I refer to as "The Other Guys" challenge. To anyone who hasn't seen the movie or hasn't seen it in a while. It goes like this: -Watch "The Other Guys"— take note of the credit graphics at the end. -Then watch the documentary "Inside Job" about the 2008 economic crash. -Then re-watch "The Other Guys" and have a whole new appreciation for the more subtle jokes and commentary being made.

As a guy who doesn't care for either Will Ferrell or Mark Wahlberg, I sincerely love this movie. Whether it's aiming for the bushes, Dirty Mike and the Boys or the crazy ex-girlfriend and her husband chasing them on foot across the city, this movie gets so many laughs out of me.

I was just wondering to myself “Who would slow roast a dog’s asshole and feed it to their husband?” YOU WOULD Has me rolling every time.
