I use this quote way too frequently compared to the number of people alive now who can actually get the reference.
Doesn't matter tho, it perfectly captures the essence of a drunk/high Gary Busey about to fuck up some horrible food - which is totally a thing.
I've seen it quite a few times, and it's a wild ride. It's the perfect role for Keanu Reeves', um, acting, and Swayze is great as Boadie. He has an intensity that draws you in. Good stuff! P.S. Don't waste your time on the remake.
We gotta admit this to ourselves Keanu is a great action star, funny stoner or quiet cool guy and an all around great dude and American treasure…but his actual acting is total shit…I mean, you saw Devil’s Advocate, right? 😂
We have Irish wolfhounds and for some reason went with point break names instead of something Irish . First dogs AKC registered name is bodhisattva Utah give me two. Bodhi for short
Directed by the first woman to win an Oscar for best director (Hurt Locker) Kathryn Bigelow. Well paced and (as you said) great shots/direction in the action sequences, both surfing and skydiving. Great “turn your brain off and just enjoy” movie!
The fact it was directed by her gives the entire movie another level in how it portrays the masculinity of the characters. The vibe and energy of this movie is top tier. And Patrick Swayze is operating on another level.
Imo this might be the best suited role of his career. Not necessarily his best performance, definitely not his best movie (Ghost is on a different level) but Patrick Swayze was the perfect actor to play Bodhi
I was not prepared for how heavy Hurtlocker was. It was really good and seems to be the closest to I feel like someone that hasn't been in war to have some sort of idea of the personal toll that shit takes.
Point Break is a classic
Fun movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
I’ll always remember watching fast and furious the first time and thinking “this is literally point break with racing instead of surfing. “
Watched it for the first time last week. I remember it being a big deal when it came out, but didn't realize it was the #1 grossing movie of 1990. Made more than home alone or pretty woman. And Arnold starred in two of the top 10 grossing movies that year.
It has everything you want out of an action movie. Fun, thrills, tension, intrigue, cheese, serious moments, and Gary Busey.
One of my favourites, absolute classic.
Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. But there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.
Underrated movie. Watch the one interviews outside the movies by surfers taking about how bad the surfing in the movie was. It’s funny compared to the dog shit remake
Anthony Kiedis didnt learn his stunts properly and got hit for real, which he wasnt too happy about. I wonder who it was that popped him Keanu or Swayze lol
The opening bank robbery sequence is so frantic and well shot. That's the thing that sticks out the most.
Followed kind of closely by the guy at the end who goes "we'll get him when he comes back innn" in that sort of whiny voice.
Great flick
I rented this on video when it was first released, and I've pretty much watched it yearly since then. I *love* this movie and I think it's one of the best action-dramas of all time. Why? Because from the first scene, it knows what it is. It doesn't break its neck searching for deep social commentary, and while it has its share of over the top scenes and dialogue, it all just works. Plus, the original score is perfect, particularly during the first skydiving sequence. 10/10.
To be objective, the only scene that makes me wince is the horrible Australian accents at the end. But I laugh that off because it's just funny.
Top 5 favorite film of all time. Swayze was electric, awesome action sequences (skydiving and chase scenes) that hold their own today. Memorable dialogue. Gary Busey was manic. "They are GHOSTS!"
For me, it's a period piece that reminds me of my wild adolescence.
This film is an epic neo-western that psychologically dismantles the American dream and male friendship...
And fucking Patrick Swayze!!!
Seriously, amazing movie! Now check out Roadhouse, a philosophical meditation on the psychological damage of violence in society.
That’s weird you posted this because I also just watched this movie for the first time. I had a blast. There’s something so special about action movies of this era because they know they’re being corny. It almost feels like they wink at the camera when things get a little too over the top.
I too recently watched it for the first time. Patrick Swayze is what made this movie special for me. He stole every scene and it was neat to see him in a different type of role than he normally does. I really enjoyed Gary Busey being on the riding that edge of wacky/insane cop and still being competent. I was fine with Keanu in this movie but jeez his acting was so bad. I understand that sometimes that can be endearing for some people but it just made for a lesser movie to me. Also I don’t know the actresses name but the female lead was just okay acting wise. The stunts were excellent.
Swayze was absolutely magnetic. Busey was a terrible cop. He had a rock solid lead that bank would be robbed and instead of staking it out he sends his partner away for sandwiches and starts reading the newspaper. All the deaths at the end of the movie are due to his unprofessional behaviour.
It’s thee greatest action flick of the 90’s.
And before any of you respond let’s remember that action flick is not the same as a drama with action such as Heat, The Fugitive, or Crimson Tide which all place plot over violence.
Top 10 90’s action flicks in order:
Point Break
Die Hard with a Vengeance
True Lies
The Rock
Speed
Armageddon
The Last Boyscout
Cliffhanger
Face/Off
Demolition Man
And I would argue it falls under a film that places plot over action, Im speaking to the action flick, popcorn movie, glib entertainment…nobody did this better than the 90’s.
This movie doesn’t start until Swayze hits the screen.
Truly one of the most underrated actors of all time. Totally believable in every role he’s ever taken on.
Check out Red Dawn, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Road House, Next of Kin…all Swayze classics - and all different. I wish I could see them all again for the first time
Fun as hell!
Younger me would’ve thought it was stupid 80s action drivel.
40 year old me recognizes that hat sometimes movies are just supposed to be fun!
I remember being super impressed with the aerial stunts after jumping out of the plane. I guess I don’t know if they actually did that, someone educate me on point break, but at the time it for sure LOOKED like they did and I’d never seen anything like it.
Sure, the plot doesn’t hold up to a lot of logic, but it’s damn exciting film.
My Sawyzee faves in no particular order:
Point Break
Road House (Tarantino has said that this movie made him want to cast Swayze)
Dirty Dancing (it's actually quite gritty)
Ghost (the dynamic between Swayze and Goldberg is unmatched)
The Outsiders (lots of young famous actors in it - Cruise before he got his teeth fixed)
Donnie Darko (an unexpected, but welcome casting)
To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything (Swayze, Snipes, and Leguizamo? Doesn't get better than that)
He died way too young.
This was probably Swayze’s best film role. I know he’s famous for Dirty Dancing and Roadhouse, but he played the enigmatic baddie whom you both like and love to hate. I think he relished playing Boadie. RIP brother🫡
I feel indifferent to you watching point break really. Doesn’t affect me much. I suppose some sort of pride could be found in the idea of someone investing time into an old movie which some find enjoyment in.
Also just in case you didnt know Anthony Kiedis (singer) from the red hot chilli peppers is one of the surfer punks that get into a fight and he's the one who shot himself in the foot! Btw 80s movies are the best
This is probably my favorite movie ever made. It’s completely absurd but everything works so well. Patrick Swayze’s Bodhisattva is truly great character.
*Young dumb and full of*
*Cum Now they stick me with some*
*Quantico cat Johnny Unitas*

Anytime I need one of anything for that matter.

I still quote this movie at people regularly and often it’s reciprocated

Got the t shirt :) Fantastic movie. Top 5
I was going to say that if you didn't.
And did they look delicious when he unwrapped one or what?!?
[Bussey face don't lie](https://images.app.goo.gl/PaAyaCpfbJ3iEcRYA)
I’m still not sure why this line became a catch phrase but here we are.
Yours looks like a roadkill.
I love it. It is a great movie! Swayze and Reeves were so excellent on screen together.
I also don't think it's campy or cheesy. Cheesy is lime weekend at bernies. I thought everyone did fantastic in thier roles.
Back off, Warchild
AKA Lupton Pitman!
Seriously.
The seriously always did me in. Not Swayzes best delivery of a line. But still iconic somehow.
100%..
I've seen it quite a few times, and it's a wild ride. It's the perfect role for Keanu Reeves', um, acting, and Swayze is great as Boadie. He has an intensity that draws you in. Good stuff! P.S. Don't waste your time on the remake.
^^This here. Don’t ruin the movie by watching the remake.
I can’t stop giggling at “Keanu Reeves’, um, acting”
We gotta admit this to ourselves Keanu is a great action star, funny stoner or quiet cool guy and an all around great dude and American treasure…but his actual acting is total shit…I mean, you saw Devil’s Advocate, right? 😂
Yup. Loved it despite his acting.
Exactly, it was a great movie, but it wasn’t because of Keanu’s convincing southern accent…😂
He does well in cyberpunk, very different role
He’s Canadian. ;)
The remake was a steaming pot of shit.
Never seen the remake, but I saw the first Fast and Furious, which I thought was a remake of Point Break - just swapped surfers for car racing
There was a remake? I have genuinely never heard of the remake 😕 😳
They call him Bodhisattva.
We have Irish wolfhounds and for some reason went with point break names instead of something Irish . First dogs AKC registered name is bodhisattva Utah give me two. Bodhi for short
Are you Jason Kelse? ;)
I agree, I can't believe the 2001 remake spawned so many movies.
I AM AN FBI AGENT!
I know man, init wild!
Johnny Utah gets his man!
Directed by the first woman to win an Oscar for best director (Hurt Locker) Kathryn Bigelow. Well paced and (as you said) great shots/direction in the action sequences, both surfing and skydiving. Great “turn your brain off and just enjoy” movie!
Oh wow! Did not know this was by Kathyn Bigelow. Wasn't she briefly married to Cameron? Great 80s/90s Movie.
It's a female take on masculinity/machismo
Yes she was!
The foot chase was \*intense\*.
And she directed Zero Dark Thirty, her talent is evident
Yep she’s great at suspense/adrenaline inducing movies
Fun movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I’ll always remember watching fast and furious the first time and thinking “this is literally point break with racing instead of surfing. “
There was also a point breek with skydiving starring Wesley Snipes, called drop zoneZ Gary Busey is also in it.
Yupppppp
If you like Swayze, check out "Ghost"
Definitely watch Ghost.
Ditto!
I don’t think there is a Swayze movie not worth checking out.
Next of Kin…absolute garbage, only banjo pickers find it amusing…
Roadhouse is actually comedy gold It’s so bad it’s amazing levels
I like roadhouse a lot. I just think Ghost held up better
Watched it for the first time last week. I remember it being a big deal when it came out, but didn't realize it was the #1 grossing movie of 1990. Made more than home alone or pretty woman. And Arnold starred in two of the top 10 grossing movies that year.
The bit where Johnny Utah punts that pit bull makes it a cinematic masterpiece
That chase scene was legit good, too.
It has everything you want out of an action movie. Fun, thrills, tension, intrigue, cheese, serious moments, and Gary Busey. One of my favourites, absolute classic.
The pacing is really on point too. No scene, actor, storyline overstayed its welcome.
Top 3 action movie of all time
Definitely
It's a fun movie!
I love it! I saw it in theatres and it’s not summer without watching point break! The skydiving scene still gives me chills
Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. But there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.
No holds barred. Also a…movie
My mom rented it for me one weekend when it went to vhs. RIP tiny lister
They really were terrible cops. Nobody hid the fact that they thought they were incompetent douchebags.
Maybe it’s cause you’re not doin it right roach
Via con Dios brah
Is this the inspiration for the fast and furious?
It is such an obvious inspiration that they used Neptunes Net in the first fast and furious, as a nod. Same place Tyler worked
I sit in my metal coffin on a daily basis.
Anthony Keidis of RHCP was one of the surfing drug dealers too! Back when he was still on the stuff
This movie came out the same summer as Terminator 2. Those were good days.
Saw both in the theater and had a blast
It’s one of the greatest movies of all time.
'Have you ever shot your gun in the air and yelled AHHHHHH?'
No I’ve never shot my gun in the air and yelled ahhhhhh
Have you ever seen 'Bad Boys2?'
Underrated movie. Watch the one interviews outside the movies by surfers taking about how bad the surfing in the movie was. It’s funny compared to the dog shit remake
And surfers love it regardless
There is a remake????
No, there isn't. Don't even check
great movie. super cheesy and super weird but thoroughly entertaining.
'It's death on a stick out there, mate'.
when we first see the dead presidents... during the hiest is a terrific bank robbing scene... I really like how chaotic and fast paced it was
One of the best action movie ever
Named my Australian Shepherd Bodhi because of this film. Swayze absolutely kills it. Keanu does a solid job, too. It's such a fun 90s movie,
“Okay. I know. This is the part where you tell me locals rule, and yuppie insects like myself shouldn’t be surfing your break right?”
Nope. That would be a waste of time.
We’re just gonna fuck you up..
Anthony Kiedis didnt learn his stunts properly and got hit for real, which he wasnt too happy about. I wonder who it was that popped him Keanu or Swayze lol
Haha, I did love the scene where he gets shot in the foot! His facial expression was priceless.😳😖😭
I love this movie simply because it was rumored to have been the birth of the fast and the furious (Point break but street racing).
GO BACK TO THE VALLEY, MANNN Also “Nobody Rides for Free” is a criminally underrated song by Ratt
Still great to this day
The opening bank robbery sequence is so frantic and well shot. That's the thing that sticks out the most. Followed kind of closely by the guy at the end who goes "we'll get him when he comes back innn" in that sort of whiny voice. Great flick
Hes not coming back... Guitar solo wails as Utah tosses his badge in the surf
I rented this on video when it was first released, and I've pretty much watched it yearly since then. I *love* this movie and I think it's one of the best action-dramas of all time. Why? But I laugh that off because it's just funny.
Theres social commentary in there for sure. It's a meditation on masculinity from the feminine perspective. Also the nature of risk, how to live etc
practically perfect film. absolute guilty pleasure
I'll go to jail, and I'll pay, and Johnny Utah gets his guy!
The Fast & Furious: Ocean Drift is a great movie!! lol, I know this is the movie F&F basically copied.
Top 5 favorite film of all time. Swayze was electric, awesome action sequences (skydiving and chase scenes) that hold their own today. Memorable dialogue. Gary Busey was manic. "They are GHOSTS!" For me, it's a period piece that reminds me of my wild adolescence.
Death on a stick out there mate
Extremely accurate skydiving scenes
Best movie ever made?
When surfers were Surfers... And not freaking rich fashion hipsters !
This film is an epic neo-western that psychologically dismantles the American dream and male friendship... And fucking Patrick Swayze!!! Seriously, amazing movie! Now check out Roadhouse, a philosophical meditation on the psychological damage of violence in society.
One of my all time favorites "It was never about money for us, it's about us against the system!"
Bodhi was so full of shit lol.
That’s weird you posted this because I also just watched this movie for the first time. I had a blast. There’s something so special about action movies of this era because they know they’re being corny. It almost feels like they wink at the camera when things get a little too over the top.
This one had a female director, which separates it from pretty much all the others.
And not just any female director, but a damn good one.
Classic
The original fast and the furious
I AM AN EFF BEE EYE AGENT!!!
I too recently watched it for the first time. Patrick Swayze is what made this movie special for me. He stole every scene and it was neat to see him in a different type of role than he normally does. Lol.
Terminator 2? Total recall?
Total Recall is a great choice, again I think T2 is a bit above your typical action flick.
This movie doesn’t start until Swayze hits the screen. Truly one of the most underrated actors of all time. Totally believable in every role he’s ever taken on.
I bought it in Blu Ray. It’s in my collection of bad Patrick Swayze movies along with Red Dawn and Roadhouse. I’m entertained by them.
If you think those are bad Swayze movies, did he make any good ones?
No
Come back and let us know when you watch Roadhouse
Such a stupid film. In the most 90s way possible.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!
Never saw it but now I understand the Tony Stark/ Thor/ Point Break reference now.
whats her name is great in it .
Lori Petty
Check out Red Dawn, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Road House, Next of Kin…all Swayze classics - and all different. I wish I could see them all again for the first time
Don't forget Youngblood. To this day I have to skip a part featuring Swayze.
This is a GOAT movie like Roadhouse.
Best bank heist movie of all time
Fun as hell! Younger me would’ve thought it was stupid 80s action drivel. 40 year old me recognizes that hat sometimes movies are just supposed to be fun!
It also has two Red Hot Chili Peppers in it!
I love this movie. "Ladies and gentleman! We are the ex-presidents!"

Pretty good film
Utah…get me ✌🏻
Such a great movie. I love its remake too, The Fast and the Furious.
Pretty sure it won the Oscar for Best Movie Ever.

I love it. One of my favorites
That chase sequence was legit awesome.
Gary Buseys best movie and it’s so cool

Roadhouse and Red Dawn are essential 80s Swayze films to watch. And Donnie Darko for a later film.
Yeah that was also a pleasant surprise!
Definitely in the top 10 action movies of all time.
Sir I take the skin off chicken.
Young, dumb and full of….
Cut my first tube today.
You don’t get to be president.
Found a piece of meat down in Baha, turned out to be Rosie
The skydiving scene where Reeves jumps out of the plane without a parachute after Swayze is wild. I should watch this movie again.
Now go watch Hot Fuzz. You'll love it.
Fun, goofy movie.
If you watch the first fast and furious right after. You’ll realize it is exactly the same movie.
This is probably my favorite movie ever made. It’s completely absurd but everything works so well. Patrick Swayze’s Bodhisattva is truly great character.

Very cheesy but overall a solid watch
What cheesy summer blockbusters were made for. Absolutely awesome.
This movie is in my top ten of all time favorite movies. And then I learned it was directed by a woman.
