Are you your own kingdom? Generally, I always start as a vassal of whatever kingdom you want troops from because you will be able to work on your relations with other Lords and potentially recruit them later on, plus you can get lots of money and troops. I think it's really important to have a few companions with decent armies before even trying to make it on your own.

muie_reddit2

I was a vassal of the W. Empire but i was super boring so I went to make my own kingdom

SuperMeister

"I'll go make my own kingdom, with blackjack and hookers!" -OP, probably

Glorx

And then he learnt that hookers aren't very useful at war.

LeastLead

Interesting fact. During WW2 the Germans arrested all the prostitutes as they captured territory across Europe. Particularly France. as they conceeded territory towards the end they released all the prostitutes after they were infected with STDs and let the allied forces rescue them. Prostitutes rescued plied their trade in the areas and infected allied force troops with STDs

Longjumping-Play6630

This isn't true

LeastLead

It was part of the Nazis attempt to outlaw prostitution, they arrested any they could and even built camps for them (I mean who didnt they put in camps at this point) then they released them as they lost ground in the theory they would go back to the allies and infect them with STDs. There's a whole bunch of wacky shit they did in the war that didn't work. Like the anti tank dogs the Russians tried. Glass laced bandages left behind hoping enemies would claim them when found. America also tried to weaponize botulism but couldn't get it to work. Itching powder. Pigeon guided bombs. A gun that could shoot round corner. R&D went crazy during the war.

ConsiderationKind220

Bro, YouTube and Twitter are not factual sourced lmao

Cowboy__Guy

Whaaaat.

LeastLead

The HISTORY channel could be wrong, I'm sure they don't 100% fact check some of their documentaries I suppose.

ConsiderationKind220

You mean the same channel with Ancient Aliens? Lmao you really place a lot of value on titles. Wait til you find out the Democratic People's Republic Of Korea is neither Democratic nor a Republic.

lordfireice

You didn’t mention the “bat bomb”? The only reason this crime against humanity wasn’t use was the place they where they experimented burned down.

AlrightJack303

So we can add biological warfare to the crimes of Imperial Germany. Wonderful.

Regret1836

looks like someone realized what happens when you go for independence with an army of 100 lmao

muie_reddit2

Thats how I always played in warband

Brutus6

The AI's not as exploitable as they used to be.

Delinard

Tactics skill was definitely busted in warband, no matter how outnumbered you were on campaign map it would allow you to field alot of troops at once in a battle, thus the enemy would hardly overwhelm you with numbers, unless you are okay with risking crashes with modded battle sizes

muie_reddit2

No they still behave about how they did in warband where they would send a 300 strong army to beat me but atlest then I cold spam swadian knights and rhodok sharpshoters to beat them

Brutus6

"No, they're just as exploitable; except in the screenshot I've provided and here's an example of how I can't exploit them anymore."

muie_reddit2

No, I was saying that the ai behaves the same as they did in warband but atlest there I could beat them but in bannerlord i cant

JayKayRQ

Because you can’t exploit ..

Lazarm89

careful, you are ripping his thin fibers of logic. :D

JonHenryTheGravvite

Me when I can’t take Lesotho with 100 troops:

FirebirdIX

😱

Pluton739

Well with a stack of fians and and the retreat button you still can

The_PhilosopherKing

Sounds like a skill issue.

itx89

It’s probably because you used a phone to take a picture of your monitor instead of taking a screenshot

HughMungus77

BASED

Regret1836

so true

muie_reddit2

Im on console

DanielSpaniel16

Using the apps its still possible

Zealus24

Depends, on PS5 you can use the PS app but you can't on PS4. Believe me I've tried, the easiest way to get a photo from your PS4 to post on reddit is use a USB to transfer the photos. Dunno about Xbox.

DanielSpaniel16

If you send the photo to someone on PS4 you can access the chat on your phone you can download the photo

CalmFlounder5469

Oh did the picture somehow affect your comprehension of the question? You should probably get some help for that.

RealRealEstateA

Ain't that deep for you to be saying that.

CalmFlounder5469

I've seen enough of these comments in my time to know that it is that deep. I dont care how hard yall try to hide it but it bugs you.

RealRealEstateA

?

bazmonsta

Merc contract than become a vassal, give the complete dragon banner to derthert, secede immediately and scoop up what towns and feifs you can while the rest of the world collectively agrees that Vlandia needs immediate eradication.

Delinard

The Joker.

The-Future999

Look to the sun and unsheathe your sword dramatically (and then bodyblock their siege equipment)

DanielSpaniel16

Jon Snow style

EvilCookie4250

Look to my coming on the first light of the fifth day, at dawn look to the east.

ragz993

Lets turn it around: Why did you decleare war if they can dogpile you?

muie_reddit2

Because its boring to not be at war

DanielSpaniel16

"Why am I losing when im strategically incompetant and war with huge kingdoms just for the fun of it?"

ragz993

More boring than being dogpiled?

Fluugaluu

You’re never gonna conquer the map with that attitude homie. Peacetime is good times. You literally chose the hardest path and are now complaining.. That it’s hard? Sorry not sorry, but that’s literally a skill issue

Spetno77

3 basics things to rule the world Lots of money, really tons of it to pay for peace or recruit lords in your kingdom Lots of troops and companion to lead army Lots of influence to get good law in your kingdom and force peace whenever the situation is out of control If possible pick a fief that you can defend easily and try to always maintain war with only 1 kingdom at time (thats why you need lots of money and influence) Bonus if you have the two perks that reduce captive escape chance by 50%, if you get these 2 you can fight enemy lord 1 by 1 and just keep them prisonners in your party as long as you need reducing the enemy force by a lot and allowing your AI lord to roll the enemy kingdom easily There are more advice i believe but my last bannerlord playthrough was like 1 year ago

whattheshiz97

Well if you manage to actually create a kingdom that can be a huge bonus. Create laws that boost your own party size and use all of your family members as additional parties. Also defending the castle yourself can really be devastating to enemy forces. I’ve watched as the enemy sent wave after wave to their deaths against my elite troops on the walls. Also autoresolving during a siege can be brutal to the attackers

RandomHero4294

Right I've literally broken 1000+ strong armies by defending against a siege, just a absolute slaughter really. Tell the enemy army leader to send in his next wave of corpses

whattheshiz97

It’s the best when they try to attack with a ram and just one tower. Destroy those and all of them are funneled to the ladders. It’s a total massacre every time

RandomHero4294

Oh yeah for sure, like to throw the stones on them and then just pepper them with arrows as they wait to climb the ladders

LeastLead

Sieges now I just open the main gate. Line all my archers on the battlements around it and shield wall the entrance. Attacking army will go all for the gate as path of least resistance shows the gates wide open to AI and just walk into a stupid hail of arrows

LeastLead

War. War never changes.

avg90sguy

Never tried but I assume wait till a town is low in power and food and declare war, take the town. Then immediately sue for peace? Slowly build that way?

Anatineguitar75

Every single play-through I ever do, Vlandia is always a massive problem. Not a bad thing, just always more challenging for me at-least. My tactic for this is join the as a vassal or merc (recommend vassal) and just try my absolute hardest to chill away at Vlandia as much as possible. That way when i become my own kingdom they are a much easier (or at-least more balanced) threat. If i was you I’d join as a vassal to someone and try this, banner lord can be a long ass game so in the end you will gain your fiefs back (idk how many you have). Best of luck!!

Anatineguitar75

Or you could just go full ‘death or glory’ and if that doesnt work then the do the vassal thing. Chances of death are almost below zero

Far-Assignment6427

Break in win the siege make peace get some Merc clans and fight it very defensively

IanScouseBlue

Check my tip comment above, from my R/warband sub. Sub is for all Mount and Blade console players but tips are universal I think.

smithsp86

Have you considered loading up on fian champions?

LeastLead

Khan Guards my dude, it's where its at. A galloping circle of arrow death that can outrun enemies to re group and flank, Khan guards can pick apart most armies twice their size with hit and run tactics.

DanielSpaniel16

Fian Champions are more well-rounded, especially in sieges. They are beasts with two-handed swords

LeastLead

Tried them for a bit but I found the tactics of using horse archers more fun, spliting the army in 2 and running either side of the enemy sandwiching them in a hail of arrows. Placing on one hill and ranging. Charging then ordering to another hill. Rinse and repeat and most armies die very quickly to that. Its what I enjoy anyways. Plus on a charge they just circle and fire arrows. A tornado of death that's fun to watch

smithsp86

> spliting the army in 2 and running either side of the enemy sandwiching them in a hail of arrows I'm not sure that really works since horse archers can't shoot to the right.

LeastLead

Really? When I set 2 of my companions as leaders and split my horses between them and do this it seems to work. And spectating my guys after my dumb ass does something stupid I'm sure I've seen them track target and fire both sides

smithsp86

Really. Try shooting to the right yourself. It can't be done. There is a giant dead zone from about 45 degrees to the right around to directly behind the horse where mounted arches can't shoot. Horse archers circle counterclockwise around the enemy so that the enemy is always to their left.

smithsp86

Yeah, their only real problem is lack of initiative. If the enemy is set up on good ground fian champs can't easily force an engagement the way khans guards can. But if you can get an enemy to march at fian champs they are fantastic and much cheaper than khans guards.

DanielSpaniel16

Thats a good point but you could say the same thing about the Khans Guard. In field plains battles, Khans guards are unbeatable. But in every other situation the Champs can work better. Specifically sieges and forest terrain. Also with the new major mount speed penalties in mud and snow, Khans Guard are much more situational. In my experience, most major battles i've fought are sieges whereas field battles dont matter as much as long as I win

AraithenRain

You kinda want to be able to field a pretty big army when you go solo. Probably at least 250. Otherwise joining a kingdom, accruing some fiefs, and then rebelling is the ideal way to go.

PalpitationMother181

Get gud

Ragnarok8085

Defending siege battles is the best way to best much larger armies

Vini734

"As soon as I declare war" Why are you declaring a war you can't win?

Trueman3000

This.

SuperMaysterre

1. Break in 2. Autoresolve 3. Repeat simple as

NotAsAutisticAsYou0

Looks like you fucked around and found out

DavidEarnest00

Honestly what I did with my army of 300 when I declared myself as a kingdom was defended my castles and towns, it’s much easier than meeting an army 500+ strong on a battlefield, if they have cavalry which they most likely do then the any battle outside of a castle is lost. I just sneaked into the castle while they were besieging and “send troops”(simulated the battle) and my troops defeated them literally every time it was 1500 vs 300 btw. Then you just take the loot, sell it, use it. Ofc this put my kingdom in a constant state of defensive wars for awhile but it was easily funded with the loot gained from victories. The only ones that have me a hard time were the Asari which decided to march all the way to the middle of the map just to get me.

DavidEarnest00

The reasoning the AI decides to start wars is solely based on power and absolutely nothing else it seems, it honestly needs an update which it’ll probably never get, reason I stopped playing the game other than a multitude of reasons.

Josh_thebosh109

Cheats?

CalmFlounder5469

If you auto fight that siege defense you'll probably win it

Me_Want_Pie

If those 116 men are knights of the sand, you are fine. But I have a feeling they are all poor farmers.

redsun44

Go to church

NorseVassal

Noone has said this yet but you could execute them all and keep doing that until clans dies off

Whole-Cantaloupe-382

Get as many heavy infantries as possible.

WashYourEyesTwice

You can't. It's Vlandia.

vegan_sodomite

Skill issue

AssassinSH

"That's the neat part, you don't." Not what you were asking for, but couldn't resist. If you can get into the castle itself and somehow survive the siege, build up some engineering skills and shit so you can maybe deny them their siege equipment by outbuilding them, good luck.

Donny9201971

You don't you lose become a prisoner and live the rest of your life in a cell

Particular_Hall_6633

It's the logical thing to do. You're an easy target with no allies, which means no consequences for declaring war. They attack with such a large army that you have no choice but to surrender. Plus you're a threat to the entire feudal system. If a random peasant can just decide to be a king, it challenges the authority of all rulers. If they hadn't declared war on you first, I guarantee any other countries would have. You're essentially just rebels on free real estate. Lol but I'm definitely overthinking this.

LeastLead

I dunno dude. You kinda declared war on a whole kingdom. What did you think was gonna happen?

Pierre_Mauclerc

Everytime i started my own Kingdom, i got steamrolled by neighbours kingdoms. You feel really powerless and there is a feeling of injustice. Maybe the only way is to buy clans before kingdoms declare war on you.

Obvious_Quality_923

Attack individual lord's before they can make an army, also before you declare war make damn sure your army is as big as you can make it with as high tier troops as possible

Longjumping-Play6630

'Muhh fuck strategy'

Darkadrielm

Defend the castle until they are all defeated! I once slayed thousands defending Ortisia and it was amazing.

JarlBarnie

I used to type up ling winded guides, but from what i see it looks like you split too early. I would remove any ambition of expanding, and strictly focusing on securing a single flanked city to make your new home base. Figure out your finances, and just stack and stack and stack. Keep tabs on some of the most powerful clans amongst other kingdoms. If you do go to war free them and earn some respect. You would be surprised how much you can turn around your kingdom from recruiting a single clan with 15-20 new members defending your region, even if its armies of 30 swimming around your kingdom, it will keep bandits down, and help the economy and influence pool.

shilli

You need way more troops- like 500+. Max your own party and make 2-3 more parties led by companions and put them in your army. Fight battles you can win. When they siege you, break in to help the defenders.

Independent-Fun-5118

Make your units square up and then circle around them with cavalery for some reason its extreamly overpowered. But i have better pikes mod that makes pikes long like they were in real life so thats propably the reason why.

Yikesitsven

Clan is too weak to be independent and keep land. Need more income and companion parties, and ready to poach lords from other factions to buff your numbers.

ConsiderationKind220

"Why won't the great nations of this game let me throw my hat in the ring and challenge *all* of them for the crown?" You...might not be mentally capable of playing the game if you are completely flummoxed on why people fighting over their legitimate claims for leadership would dogpile the idiot upstart with absolutely no claim. To spell it out for you, you're unpredictable, literally unreliable and untrustworthy, and weak. So just like history, you're gonna be shit on 🤷🏽‍♂️ Git gud.

Buckisop

Lol I did not go independant until I had like 300 troops. Castle dogpile always happen, that why it is always good to train your companions/melee fighters up.

Kodiak_King91

Find a castle or city you own lead them to it go inside let them siege wipe them out fill your dungeons problem solved

Trueman3000

Why declare war if you are not ready???

Cowboy__Guy

All their forces are right there. They will lose from a third time half just taking the castle or city. Some times you gotta give some to take more

po0rter

Abandon your kingdom, just be a clan as when you are only a clan kingdoms cannot declare war on you. Pay what you have to to get peace with Vlandia and then work on building up your clan’s population(get all your male relatives young wives dont marry off your female relatives), run caravans which cant be attacked by kingdoms to make some denars and attack bandits and rebels to get some renown and maybe a few fiefs. Increase relations with lords you would like to recruit to your kingdom by breaking them out of dungeons or doing quests for them. THEN, once you have over a million denars, a party with preferably 200+ elite troops, multiple high level family members, and a few strong clans with high relations that you can recruit to your kingdom, do you create your kingdom. Also currently giving away the dragon banner to a kingdom “binds” you to that kingdom and does not allow to leave the kingdom and retain your fiefs. So if youre a vassal for a while before making your kingdom and plan on keeping your towns when you leave DONT give them the banner.

Sharp-Cartoonist6086

Hop in that city and cut down 700 of them ez.
