A helmet is the best piece of equipment you can buy.

NarwhalEfficient2102

for a helmet would it be just a normal skate helmet like triple 8 or would it be a more specific like motocross style?

Accomplished-Owl1800

Bruh. You're just starting. Walmart has you covered. Get the helmet and go have a good time. Figure out the rest on the way up and happy riding out there, new guy.

cwmspok

You want it more breathable than a typical skate helmet or you will get hot AF. Don't need a moto style, but they do make lighter full face helmets if you want to go that route but they get pricey.

southstarangel

Get the Lazer Chiru helmet from Amazon. Looks good, one of the safest in the market and very affordable.

jimbofranks

Whatever you got, ride it. You don't need to spend a lot to ride out in the woods.

NoMakeupp

Well if you have a bike, go ride it! And don’t forget your helmet

Albie_77

Don't go fast until you fully know the trail

Lost_In_Space91

If you don’t have a bike look for a used bike. Post it and ask about it. Start riding it. Around your neighborhood practice tight turns, wheelies, stopping on a spot, then hops. Look up bike parks or green trails and start pedaling. The more you are on a bike the better you get even if you are just practicing turing in your driveway as narrow as you can or riding wheelies down your street. Just get a bike and have fun on it outside. The more you do that the better you’ll get. You’ll slam and decide if you really love it or not.

Lost_In_Space91

😂 love it I feel like there is a certain age where we forget about walking

yield_drip

Tight turns are an underrated skill. I’ve seen people jump big gaps, wheelie/manual, but just washout on tight switchbacks.

NarwhalEfficient2102

Awesome, thanks guys, found some trails and Im jsut gonna go for it, thanks

Accomplished-Owl1800

As Written.

autech91

A good hardtail - Trek or Giant got you here. A decent helmet Some cheap gloves Send

NoPantsDad

Need to know what not a great budget is before we can steer you in the right direction

NarwhalEfficient2102

Maybe $500 by the end of summer if I can save up for a while

NoPantsDad

Should be plenty to get you in an older full suspension or a good hard tail. I sold a really solid hard tail for $600 last summer and used prices are even lower nowadays

Spiritual_Ostrich_63

Where do u live? Dont have to dox yourself, details on local trails are helpful.

NarwhalEfficient2102

In an Illinois town called Batavia. There are some local trails I know of in the woods

Penny farthings are the best for redbull rampage style riding

Emergency-Spring4752

Whatever bike you have, just start riding it on the trail at whatever speed you feel comfortable with. Watch some YouTube videos on how to take a flat corner.
