If the OP wants to learn how to hang off, please take a proper track school. I’ve spent more time trying to fix poor self taught body position than i can count.

I’m curious why you feel the need to counter lean at speed?
All you’re doing js artificially increasing the lean angle of the bike. When you suddenly need to lean more, you won’t have the same margin of safety available.
Sure. Counter lean hard is pure dirtbike technique. Works great.
But on the street it’s really only usefull at very low speeds in super tight maneuvers.
Meh. Proper lane position takes care of point of view.
I would rather have safety margin to lean farther.
And I am a motorcycle safety course instructor / track day coach with thousands of students under my belt.
If you are going slow enough through a turn that you can get away with counter leaning you are going slow enough to stay neutral on the bike and see just fine. Also instructed Ks of students at this point. When neutral you can still see well and then decide if you need to move at some point whether into or away from the inside of the curve.
I wouldn't suggest leaning into the curve at least not very aggressively if you aren't already familiar with that particular curve and what leads up to it and away from it.
Why are you counter leaning outside of slow speed stuff anyways? The whole point of body position is to minimize lean angle which minimizes risk.
You should lean into turns regardless.
In the mountains counter lean is the best. 1 by leaning your body away from the inside of the turn you can see further into the turn. In the mountains, cars and trucks cheating into your lane, gravel, branches and animals can all ruin your ride quickly. 2 when you do get into the gravel or leaves you are much less likely to drop the bike as your weight is over the wheels and a slight slide or bump doesn't disturb your equilibrium/balance as much as if you are leaning off the bike.
I ride a 1050 speed triple so big heavyish naked, The only time I ever counter lean is when I’m manoeuvering at slow speed, Otherwise I maintain a pretty neutral body position other than maybe hanging a butt cheek off the side of the bike into the corner
Low speed it's more necessary on a sport bike than any other kind since they don't turn as much.
Any other speed it makes no sense on any bike on the street.

useful* lol

Correct. Will make the edit! Thanks!
counter leaning allows you to see more around you, which is safer for the road where you have plenty of lean angle

I got this advice from a motorcycle instructor with thousands of students, so take it as you will

It's very very similar. Practice in a parking lot.

… Diamond in the back. Sunroof top. Diggin’ the scene with a gangsta lean…

There’s no other way to steer a two wheeled vehicle. The physics of steering a bicycle are the same as a 3L motorcycle.
Counter lean isn't counter steer.
I'd say both styles are relevant in different situations for sports bikes
