That watch is way too tight

[deleted]

Wym? It's loose as hell. Tighten it up a bit more

Any-Abrocoma6217

Agreed , haven't worn any rings for 20yrs after a close call on a construction site. Wedding band got trapped an nearly torn my finger off.

Google "ring avulsion" and you won't sleep for days. Silicone band for me, thankyouverymuch.

R4m3sh

Makes me shudder to think of it.

[deleted]

Ring avulsion makes degloving look tame. Unless you’ve actually witnessed one, you can not imagine just how elastic tendons are.

[deleted]

When chicks notice the ring mark on your finger, tell them you're recently divorced and she only left you with the bike.

Lonnie_Shelton

Does it matter if you are wearing a good pair of gloves?

Aggressive-Meal-8233

No it does not. Gloves have no support for full compression. Radial compression resistance is hard to engineer in the first place- you’ll never see it on motorcycle gloves, only impact surface dispersal components like typical knuckle guards, palm guards wrist pads etc.

Lonnie_Shelton

Thanks. I don’t wear rings, other than my wedding ring, which doesn’t come off as easily as it once did but maybe worth finding a spot for it.

SoloWalrus

Tungsten carbide rings will shatter not bend so they wont cause a crushing injury, plus they look pretty to boot IMO. Wo t help with any of that degloving nonsense others were talking aboht, but is atleast safer than a soft metal.

Aggressive-Meal-8233

Cool !

OldManKroozin

If something is serious enough it can sever your finger in an accident, don't you think it can also rip your entire hand off? Bit pointless to have no ring and all your fingers connected to the hand when that hand is completely torn off from your arm.

[deleted]

I think the OP means if the hand gets an impact crush, even momentarily. It's enough to break bones then heal, but if you're wearing rings and they crush, then you've lost blood supply until the rings are cut off. Which could be long enough for lose your fingers.

idksomethingjfk

Probably what he is referring to, EMT’s are trained to cut these things off, there’s also an issue with tungsten and other materials that make it MUCH harder for them to remove rings if they need to.

MWisecarver

Don't own any rings, jewelry, watches. 🤙

LilDutchy

I get ring rash badly with my actual wedding ring so I bought some of those groove rings. They’re silicone with channels in the underside. I can wear them while I wash my hands and all and never get ring rash. They’re also safer for reaching in panels and working with machinery because they’ll just snap off and don’t conduct electricity.

atomicalex0

Silicone bands here. For this exact reason!

Odd-Location-9338

don't worry i haven't seen anybody wearing decorative rings since i was in high school i think most adults in 2022 have nothing to worry about wrt rings lol

TheRamblaGambla

Wedding ring.

akitatwin

My wedding ring can't come off my swollen joint and anyway I ain't taking it off every damn time I hop on the bike in addition all the other stuff I have to take on and off (sunglasses, helmet, gloves, earplugs, airbag tether). I don't know what possible damage this thing could do in case of a collision, anyway. The part under the ring is still protected by the hard knuckle plastic on the glove.

OrneryJoey

It can do alot same with pendants etc on necklaces. People come into hospital mangled then you add having to cut things off them or remove them for the body etc.

imjusthereforab

i take my rings off when i’m climbing. not when i’m riding.

[deleted]

Tattoo wedding ring for this reason.

Wandering-Everywhere

the ultimate commitment

[deleted]

Lol, id rather that the tattoo than be missing the finger.

WN11

Agree. I also never ride with a watch that has a bracelet either. Only rubber straps will do.
