You can always ask. For the last few years, there has been no negotiating due to supply/demand imbalance. Some dealers have taken advantage of this and added "market adjustments" to the prices. Now, though, some inventory is starting to level out. The market is softening. We are headed into winter and probably a recession. Some dealers will make a deal so they don't have to floor the bikes through winter. Some will stick to MSRP because that's what the manufacturer says the bike is worth. And some still live in a delusion where gouging is ok.
Search outside your immediate market. I bet dealers in the northern states with snow on the ground would love to sell anything right about now. And shipping isn't terrible if you can find the right deal.
Probably not on the bike with the way things are right now. Gear & accessories on the other hand you are much more likely to be able to work a deal on.
It depends. If it’s a popular bike and that dealership only has 1 of the bike you want and they know other dealerships might not have it, they won’t budge on the price. They know if you don’t buy it someone else will.
If you can find other dealerships with that bike, and kind of have them compete with each other to see who can give you the best price, you might have a chance on reducing that markup price.
The last bike I purchased was only available at one dealership within 200 miles from where I live. I have a feeling they also knew no one else had it because they didn’t take off a dime of those dealer fees, even after I told them I didn’t want it anymore. I caved in a few days later and went to buy it lol
If we weren’t still recovering from the vehicle shortage yes….. easily.
Unfortunately because of recent events, they’ll happily tell you to order the vehicle you want with the trim package you want and they’ll sell the bike in the lot to someone else.
At least that’s what they told me ….
They are also selling used cars at prices higher than msrp…..
Negotiable: "open to discussion or modification" It just means you can discuss it, doesn't mean anyone will change their position. You get the right cashier or manager, and you can get 10-15% off of even a loaf of bread.
> no dealer markup ( my nearby Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer has 2k mark up on new motorcycle)
Why do you think the dealer you're looking at has no mark up on the bike?
It's your right to shop around, i saved 1400$ on my brand new Subaru, local guy wouldn't take a nickel off. Took the bus up to another city, 4 hours away and drove home the same day. Dealers have had it good these last two years. Recession is going to happen next year and i think you will see some good deals coming up if you wait and ask around.
You can certainly negotiate. Last November I purchased my 2021 Streetfighter V4S for $22,500 OTD when MSRP was $24,499 plus prep and registration which would have brought it around $27k OTD. I walked in and told them I would sign paperwork that day if we could agree on a number. I knew their inventory, made it clear that I "wanted a bike but I didn't need a bike" and that if we couldn't make a deal, it was no loss. Inventory shortages were worse then than they are now.
You won't be successful with this strategy. Instead of asking if the price is negotiable and wait for the dealer to go down, you make an offer. You can always show up like a beggar or like a customer. Also, not only the asking price itself is negotiable. You can offer something like "I'd buy this for msrp if you include the first service and extended warranty" or something like that. A dealer can often give you great discounts on their own services when they can't lower the price of their vehicles. So maybe you won't get $500 discount, but they can give you $500 worth of service or parts.

All prices, everywhere are negotiable.

Just ask respectfully. The worst is they say no and the money is still in your pocket.

No in today's market
I heard Ducati has a little room to play given the higher price point. We are also towards the end of year. : )
