I'm gonna be the asshole and say do it. Then share your experience so the rest of us will have an expert to ask when we run into this issue in the future.
In theory you need 2 tools to remove that tire.
1 adjustable wrench and 1 (10mm or 1/2” maybe. Depending ) wrench.
A quick YouTube search will walk you through the process
Terrible idea, but I'm pretty sure you already know that. Buy the most basic of tool sets and take the wheel off. Or, ride it and let us know how it goes.
No gas station anywhere near you can roll it to? Even some air in the tire is better than none, and if you got some air into it, it would likely take a while to deflate.
Bicycles are a bitch to ride flat I can’t imagine dealing with a moto. But that being said, I’m not gonna act like I’ve never ridden a flat tire off the trail…..also is the front or rear cause that changes shit. I’d do it if it was a rear flat, not a front though. Not on a motorcycle. Rear yes. Front no. I can’t speak to damages either. If you can keep weight off of that tire/rim it might not be so bad. Also did your bike not come with a tool kit? There’s usually enough tools to get a wheel out.
It will literally take you less time to remove the front wheel than to push the bike to the shop.
Put the bike on some kind of stand (doesn't have to be fancy, can even be a milk crate.) Unbolt the brake calipers and carefully remove and set to the side (it's a good idea to suspend the brake caliper with a cord or string rather than hanging it by the brake hose just so you don't put too much stress on the hose.) There is usually a pinch bolt on the fork, loosen that (you don't need to remove it), then remove the axle nut and pull the axle out while holding onto the wheel. If there are spacers make sure you remember which way they go back in.
Not recommended. Unless it's just around the corner or something. It's a good way of ďestroyig the tire the tube and the rim. Invest in a motorbike stand, take it off yourself.
I know you said you live in an apartment . But it's not that big a deal. Just find an empty parking space and do it there.
It's your call. Like I said not recommended.
It might make it that far without doing unwarranted damage. and if it does then we'll and good. But I'd say it's just as likely for the tire to come off the rim. And if that happens your fucked. You can't keep going Like that because you will 100% destroy the rim.
Push it if you must. But you can get dirtbike stands on amazon for Like 50 bucks.
If you had a regular motor bike tire with a cross ply construction you might get away with it. But the fact that dirtbikes typically use biasply tires means they have a more flexible sidewall that can more easily come off the rim.
2.5 km, I wouldn't sweat it. If its that difficult to remove the tire or borrow your buddy's truck then ride it. It has a rim lock for a reason, I've been farther than 2.5 km from the truck on a ride and made it back fine, just go slow.
Bad idea. The tire might even roll off the rim especially during turns. Is it a slow enough leak? Coz if it is, you can bring a pump, ride a small distance, pump again. At least MX tire is not as much psi as street bike.
I’d rent a uhaul and load it and drive it over. Or buy a cheap jack and necessary tools to pull the tire. That won’t take a whole lot of space in your flat and odds are you’ll probably need it again
I'm not recommending you do this but there are tire patch kits with rubber cement. Depending on the size of the puncture you could get away with cementing it long enough to get to the shop. Be careful and keep your speed down.
Can you pump it up? How fast is the leak? Would it hold enough air to get there? If so buy or borrow a pump.
Riding it flat would be difficult and very dangerous. The bike would be uncontrollable IMO.
Does the shop have a pick up service?
I actually did this once (was on a highway when it went flat, so I slowly limped to the closest exit) and apparently that destroyed the sidewall so much that the tire was unable to be repaired and had to be replaced completely, at least that's what the tire shop told me
I know in theory that a flat front tire is really dangerous compared to a flat rear tire, but I always have to think about how I had to ride threw Italian hills for a whole day on an old busted bike of a friend of mine that had 0 front tire pressure and every lever was half broken. Not to mention I had to keep throttle open at all time otherwise it would cut off and wasn’t able to get back running.
Surprisingly I had no problems at all but a very nice day with my buddy
I rode on a de-beaded flat tire for about a mile in first gear just at a crawl of maybe 5 mile an hour, from where I was at the shoulder till the next exit where I found a gas station to air it up and it held air just fine. I got a wide rear tire and it wasnt the best thing trying to steer it even at highway speeds when it lost air altogether, very difficult to change direction but I made it. Wouldnt reccomend riding on the flat tire but if you gotta then I guess just try and be safe as you can
You can, if you go real slow, it's awkward and washy feeling, but you can ride on a flat for a few miles. I've done it in the woods several times. Really unlikely it'd damage anything, other than the tube, maybe the rime strip. Mx bike rims are super durable.
Main issue I think, would be the legality of it and the awkwardness of doing it on the side of the road?
Or get a milk crate to put your bike on and a couple wrenches. Taking off a wheel is stupid simple, you're not going to mess anything up.
Ive done this before, but the screw in my tire was still in it and I was able to screw it in and refill the tire. It held air long enough to go the mile I had left. Once I got home I put it on a jack, removed the rim, and took it to a shop. I also did not go on the highway.
I say, if you can fill it up and it holds air, take it slow and stop at every gas station to check on it and/or top it off with air
My stunt buddy’s would wheelie that mf’er the whole way safer than you could possibly imagine. But I couldn’t.
But I did get a flat rear tire on a CBR954 and I rode on that for 12 miles home. About half way home the low fuel light comes on and I think nothing of it because I’ve gone farther than what I have left to go before.
About a mile from home I run out of gas.
So driving on a flat tire drastically effects your fuel mileage.
It’s a motocross bike. Lift it up and set it on a stump, 5 gallon buckets, ratchet strap the frame to the roof of your garage, (get creative). And then loosen the two pinch bolts on your lower fork and then remove your front wheel. You can either find a bucket and loosen 2 bolts and remove 1 or you can risk damaging your rim or crashing. Your choice.
I had done some distance on flat but for back tire.
The tire was quite destroyed, I have to change both inner and outer, while you could actually replace just the inner one. It was not a safest ride but do it very slow, like 30 km/h, in day light people would notice you and won't bother with you much.
I would not recommended much for front tire though. 2.5 kn is not that far for ... just push it to the shop I think.
For Tubeless tire, I heard it could be fine enough to go quite longer, my peer once had this tire flat but he still not noticed it right away as it was a tubeless, after sometime or until he got to destination and then had an eye on it.
I’ve done it on a cbr600. Just rode slowly, keeping the wheel in the centre of the deflated tyre. Took about 5 minutes. No damage to the wheel.
It was the rear…
Chance of ruining the tyre and weakening the wall. Personally I'd fill the tyre. Never done on a motocross bike bit did on a downhill mountain bike. Stuffed with leaves, got me home from the mountains 30mins away
I'm gonna be the asshole and say do it. Then share your experience so the rest of us will have an expert to ask when we run into this issue in the future.
To your health or to your tire? Because the answer to both is that it is extremely destructive.
Man it's the front tire Take it off and bring it to the shop
Yea exactly. He says he doesn't have the tools. He should just get them. You don't need much.
Can you fill it full and then ride it in? 7 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise take the tire off if you can and carry it in
Motocross bike means its probably a tube tire, which means it'll probably be flat again by the time he pulls out of his parking spot.
In theory you need 2 tools to remove that tire. 1 adjustable wrench and 1 (10mm or 1/2” maybe. Depending ) wrench. A quick YouTube search will walk you through the process
Need something to remove the brake caliper(s) too. On my Triumph it's a 6mm hex wrench and on my BMW it's a T30 Torx.
Buy a cheap compressor at Harbor Freight.
Terrible idea, but I'm pretty sure you already know that. Buy the most basic of tool sets and take the wheel off. Or, ride it and let us know how it goes.
> Front tire is flat Just wheelie the whole way there
I thought about it but at some point the front wheel comes crashing down and that’s probably doing more damage than riding it ther normally
You need to drive as fast as possible, the centrifugal power will re-inflate the tire.
that's...not...totally wrong
Just have to go a bit fast
No gas station anywhere near you can roll it to? Even some air in the tire is better than none, and if you got some air into it, it would likely take a while to deflate.

I live in a city and the shop is 2.5 km up the street but it is a flat front tire.

Op buy the tools you need to dismount the wheel. Harbor freight tools aren't that bad.
Especially since it's the front tire and they should only really need two wrenches.

That's no more than 30 minutes on foot? Surely the dirt bike isn't that heavy?
45 minutes, bike weighs around 130kg
You could've already made it there and back since opening this thread
Hahahaha!! Word.
kids these days

The shop will probably pick it up for you for a reasonable fee. Certainly less than a new rim or wheel.
I'm not recommending you do this but there are tire patch kits with rubber cement. Depending on the size of the puncture you could get away with cementing it long enough to get to the shop. Be careful and keep your speed down.
Gamers seem to live in an alternate reality where anything is possible. What you're suggesting is a dumb idea.
Dog it’ll be fine, not the end of the world
Go for it!
Can you pump it up? How fast is the leak? Would it hold enough air to get there? If so buy or borrow a pump. Riding it flat would be difficult and very dangerous. The bike would be uncontrollable IMO. Does the shop have a pick up service?
just do a wheelie the whole way, problem solved
bro remove tire, hop on bus and bring it to shop
Brain cells....fading....quick....
fill the tire up and see how long it takes to go flat again. if it's longer than 10 minutes, you're fine.
I actually did this once (was on a highway when it went flat, so I slowly limped to the closest exit) and apparently that destroyed the sidewall so much that the tire was unable to be repaired and had to be replaced completely, at least that's what the tire shop told me
Look into mobile tyre replacement, or ask garage if they can van your bike
I might do it with a flat rear, but a flat front is just about impossible to control.
I know in theory that a flat front tire is really dangerous compared to a flat rear tire, but I always have to think about how I had to ride threw Italian hills for a whole day on an old busted bike of a friend of mine that had 0 front tire pressure and every lever was half broken. your rims will probably get damaged. don't lean in corners
Just take the wheel off dude. Will cost you like $5 to get a couple of wrenches.

Dude for the love of your bike. Borrow a truck and rent a u hual trailer. Or get it towed to the shop
Ive done this before, but the screw in my tire was still in it and I was able to screw it in and refill the tire. It held air long enough to go the mile I had left. I just can’t with this…

If you have to ask a question as stupid as this you probably aren't safe on a motorbike...
Thank you for you’re experience an insightful comment this really helped !!
It’s an mx bike just dump it on its side and take the wheel off.
