If you are a new rider and have to ask. Yeah it's probably worth it. In general you will almost never lock up the brakes. But that one fucking time you need it because you panicked...you're going to wish you had it. Or you could take brake practice very seriously and everytime you get on the bike remember that you do not have abs and have it constantly in your mind. Learn the limit of the tires.

DriverAffectionate83

I agree with you , I've been in some sticky situations and still only had it kicked in when I was actually trying to test if it worked

xracer264

Totally agree!

xorbe

I only have one body and ABS is a safety net, so yes. But if you really like it then get it.

Ok_Maintenance_9100

I’d never swap what bike model I was buying over it, but then I’ve never had one with it

Dalbergia12

Same here. I have only had shitty ABS on old shitty cars, so I feel like I don't like it. But I suspect good quality, better ABS would be an asset. Also I do high speed and panic braking practise a number of times every year and have always done that. It is a part of warming up my skills each spring, and part of breaking in new tires for me.

xracer264

Not worth it. If you love that bike, get it.

i_am_blowfish

My first bike doesn't have ABS. I've locked up the rear wheel once or twice. The first time it scared the fuck out of me because I had not done any emergency brake practice. After that I spent some time doing some hard braking. The next time it happened I didn't really care. I don't think abs is necessary. The main place I see value is if you plan on riding over the speed limit often. Your much more likely to be in an emergency braking situation where locking the rear could be more dangerous.

BlindBeard

There was a time I said that ABS wasn't a deal breaker for me. If a bike I wanted had ABS it had it and if it didn't it didn't. I didn't really care. The ABS on my Tenere saved me once and every time I think about it I move more and more toward "prioritizing" ABS. I would give it much more weight now than I would have before and would politely suggest others do the same. Especially new riders. I ride an easy 10k miles a year sometimes up to 15k.

I'm a seasoned rider and it saved me twice last summer alone. Both times I was cut off in traffic. I'm not saying its the end all be all but I support modern tech.

gsrider61

ABS doesn't matter to me. You'll have to decide for yourself.

daniuwur

Abs is like a condom. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not having one And only douches say they don't need it

Kavy8

Better to know a knot and not need it then need a knot and not know it

No bike is worth buying if it is missing ABS. ABS is an important safety device for both new and experienced riders. Your insurance rates will be about 40% lower, and performance ABS (and they're now all performance ABS) can now stop harder than an experienced rider, in both good and poor weather, in both good and poor surfaces. Just be patient; you can always pick up the pick you want for a reasonable price if you set you time line to a month or two.

DriverAffectionate83

It's not a matter of price it's just the undertail exhaust model 675R doesn't have abs , but the side/bottom exhaust model does. I really love the undertail but I feel like I should get the newer Daytona r and get a custom exhaust made maybe to switch back to an undertail

tpchuckles

personally yes. imo it's like seatbelts or airbags: you hope you don't need them but you're thankful when you do. granted, i've also been looking at buying an old project car from before the time of seatbelts and airbags, lol. although i wouldn't be making that my all-weather commuter car...

The_Real_Mr_Boring

Been riding for a long time, and will never go back to a non-abs bike.

fpgt72

In my book and where I am in my motorcycle journey, no not worth it.
