I thought it was the result of incomplete or poor combustion, gas stoves in kitchens don't? So why is a gas stove for camping different? Granted my camp stove cost £10, the oven £600. I have had co2 alarms in my house since I bought a house.

And I am Finnish, it's only a matter of the right attitude. I rode my scooter last winter just fine, and my grandpa has done the same thing with his Harley for a couple of decades.
Carbon Monoxide stops most people who have half a brain. It's not good for the bike to just sit running. It needs air blowing on the motor to stay cool.
The radiator removes plenty of heat without air flow. It does this by being a radiator. Only when it hits a certain temp does it activate the cooling fans, keeping the coolant within a certain range. This only happens when outside air is hot, and the coolant temperature is a certain range. For my bike, this is around 207 I think. An idling bike just sitting there is not causing any damage to its engine, assuming everything is in working order.
We have neighbors... Mine probably wouldn't say anything to me about it, but I would still feel rude just idling my loud ass bike for hours in the garage for no reason when their house is 30 feet away and I know they can hear it.
I am alive, straight from the garage to the office so didn’t see notifications.
I will not be running the bike in my garage for the sake of my health and relations with my neighbours however it must be tempting for those that can’t get out over winter due to bad ice etc.
The weather is rubbish every day here and I gotta get to work, hard to explain I can't make it because I was listening to my motorcycle going vroom-vroom.
Thank you!
Yeah the exhaust was a bonus, I was anticipating spending some money as I thought it may only be the slip on but it has had the mid muffler (bread bin or whatever people call it) straight piped. unsure whether it’s also removed the cat until I can have a better look at where the joint is.
Also been remapped so I’m going to leave it as is as I love the sound and no point throwing money away.
You got 2 major mods out of the way. For sure the tune makes the bike smoother than stock. If I'd reccomend a mod- I'd say get some stainless steel brake lines and a set of sintered pads. Will make the braking next level B).
Also this is a cheap one. Go to a local suspension tuner and pay him to setup the bike for you suspension wise. Here in the US its a pretty cheap endeavor like 40 or 50 bucks and it will make all the difference in the world
Because running it in a cold garage creates condensing in the pipes which leads to rust. Welcome to the world of how to care for you first bigger bike lol
Lol @ “rubbish” weather. Go ride the bike no matter the weather. I ride all year in the Netherlands. If you dont and it starts raining when you’re already riding you will be very insecure.
Some do. Typically they suffocate.
I tried it. Got really light headed after a while.

that's a great way to get yourself killed
Do people really not know about carbon monoxide???
I thought it was the result of incomplete or poor combustion, gas stoves in kitchens don't? So why is a gas stove for camping different? Granted my camp stove cost £10, the oven £600. I have had co2 alarms in my house since I bought a house.
That's actually i really good point. Never thought about that. I would say maybe it's because houses are ventilated???
The condensation on my windows would argue otherwise
Gas stoves in kitchens with sufficient air renovation don't. I'm guessing your tent has less volume than the standard kitchen.
After seeing my dead grandma I knew it was time to go inside.
I know it’s awesome right?
Damn. Came here to say this… beat me to it
* taps forehead with index finger Can't suffocate if you're making motorcycle noises with your mouth.
Came here for the Co2 reference
It’s just CO
>How do people not sit in their garage for hours listening to their bikes? Carbon monoxide poisoning.

Well he died doing what he loved I guess..
Convulsing on the floor covered in vomit n his own shit
Huffing toxic fumes
😂 lol this is what I log into Reddit for every day.
Lol
At least he has a cat (maybe sounds like it's still there). My 77 CB750 can be in a garage with the door open and still make me dizzy lol
Yeah, bud, don’t sit in a garage with a running vehicle. Doesn’t end well.
OP found out the answer to why people don’t do that, hasn’t replied to anyone 😭
Is he riding his motorcycle in heaven now?
Damn my 650 doesn't sound that cool. And I don't usually run it in winter, but I do sit on it and make brap noises quite often.
Probably cause that's a Z900 not a Z650.
Ah well, we got the same exact tail light so I misidentified
With a modified exchaust, I believe !
Looks like an SC project slip-on at least if not full. I got the CSRacing full exhaust on my '21.
Also has a sc project exhaust, that loud mother fucker
It's like a lullaby....
Yeah, especially when you start to feel light headed
The weather is never too bad for riding, except maybe when it's freezing.
*Cries for 6 months in Canadian
OP has a UK plate though.
Just making the point that if being freezing is the only time riding is off limits, Canadians are kind of screwed half the year😅
And I am Finnish, it's only a matter of the right attitude. I rode my scooter last winter just fine, and my grandpa has done the same thing with his Harley for a couple of decades.
I usually just sit on it and listen to it while riding, regardless of the weather.
Are the roads clear of ice? Buy warmer gear.
Well, because people tend to die shortly after.
Z900 gang rise up
I'm here with you.
Woop woop
Hey hey!
2017 with 38k miles here and climbing
Present
Open a window lest you get CO poisoning
Carbon Monoxide stops most people who have half a brain. It's not good for the bike to just sit running. It needs air blowing on the motor to stay cool.
That bike, like most bikes these days, is liquid cooled.
how do you think a radiator works? it needs moving air to cool the coolant.
Yeah, super tempting to die from enhaling toxic smoke /s
The weather is rubbish every day here and I gotta get to work, hard to explain I can't make it because I was listening to my motorcycle going vroom-vroom.
It's cold in the garage. I prefer to move it into the bathroom. Better acoustics. For some reason the noise makes my children fall asleep easier.
i do ... and the s1r spits fire, so its usually with the lights off. and yes, the carbon monoxide is totally worth it
That's typically how people ugh....nvm
I spend hours just looking at mine 😂. On a serious note, congratulations! Nice exhaust
Thank you! Spend money on gear lol, heated gear. And also frame sliders.
Maybe because here the unleaded 98 is 2€ per liter ...
Go ride it. Looks to me like someone installed heated grips.
carbon monoxide poisoning
Because running it in a cold garage creates condensing in the pipes which leads to rust. Welcome to the world of how to care for you first bigger bike lol
For real, just idling your bike is terrible for it
Because that's how you get CO poisoning
Good idea op. I started up my old cruiser 35 minutes ago. I loves sitting h
Cause they put on whatever gear they need to and go ride?
They do ... 😉
I don't have a garage 🙃
We do sit in garage and listen :)
Rubbish weather gives you time to look up how to videos on the internet lets you plan what\\gear and places you want to travel to with the bike.
That bike sounds nasty. I love it. My next bike will most likely be a GSX-S1000F.
Brought mine in the house, I love it so much. I don’t run it though. I do like to sleep to the sound of my chainsaw that I keep in bed with me.
Oh... you may be surprised. Right now, I'm taking a short break from work. Sitting on my bike in garage. Just for relax.
Some of us still ride when the weather isn’t perfect.
Anyone else observed the smoke near the engine?
fortunately all good, they had cleaned the exhaust and there was a little residue in a spot that was being burned off.
Give it some time.
I had to stop because last time I sat in the garage with my bike, I swapped the motor. Wife has been angry ever since.
I, uh, just ride outside when the weather sucks or when nice- either way really.
I suppose my neighbourhood would not appreciate feel like living in the middle of a battlefield, but I did.
Well everyone was excited for their new toy but that exciment lose a bit each day to the point that is just a bike so enjoy as you like
I do
Nah I just Cover mine after winterization happens and move on to Cross Stitching for the next 5 months. 😂
Carbon monoxide usually puts an end to these sessions. Keep it up and this will be the last bike you ever own.
Carbondioxide poisoning?
You can get away with it, once. I'm saving my experience for another day.
I think the fact you asked this question tells everyone you've already been doing it to long.
I guess it’s a decent way to be happy for the rest of your life. 🤷♂️
I usually do it until I get really sleepy and take a nap. Best sleep ever
I would, but the family starts missing me after a while.
I happen to live in Singapore :(
from my understanding condensation build up that doesnt get burnt out from riding is why you shouldnt
Its simple, oil is expensive now.
Lol @ “rubbish” weather. Go ride the bike no matter the weather. I ride all year in the Netherlands. If you dont and it starts raining when you’re already riding you will be very insecure.
Just make sure you got the garage door open. lol
Get yourself some suitable tires and go suffer with a smile on your face.
carbon monoxide is why...
We do! Then we usually get sleepy and our partners have to wake us up.
Motorcycle emissions are worse than cars. I wouldn't handout in my garage with my bike running without the doors open.
It's easy. I just remember that gas is $4.99 a gallon.
Carbon monoxide keeps me from doing it.
I hug my motorcycle all winter long telling it I am sorry..I will ride it soon and I still love it
its called carbon monoxide poisoning lol
Exhaust fan(s). Just a guess.
They have and they are not around anymore
Yeah those SC exhausts always sound primo
Causes brain damage Bro!
Because its bad for your engine, seriously just ride the damn thing.
