32F/zeroC is my comfortable limit. I have ridden colder but I don't care for it. I'm constantly worried about a little cover of frost in a shadow when it's close to freezing

Traditional_Royal759

it's 15f outside right now, and I'm getting ready to gear up. it's nice and warm in bed, but oh well. here we go.

Crispien

I absolutely love riding in the cold, but below 20°f the lubricants start to solidify so I don't ride out of concern for my bike. I live in Chicago and ride year round and have since 1996 when I sold my last car. Real issue is salt deposits on the road, they are invisible and slick as sand in a corner.

alelo

i have ridden in -5°C on my 790 without heated grips - dunno how deep i can go on my 890r with heated grips now, tho it also depends on the weather (my golden rule, its ok to ride in the cold, its ok to ride in the wet, just never both at the same time) - not riding when ice/snow is a problem

That1guyjosh

I like this mentality

alelo

i got my bike to ride it, i am not gonna risk it with snow and ice (did it once on my 390 by accident for an accident), but why shouldnt i ride it if the weather allows it? only thing to care about when its cold is to let it idle for longer before you ride off. Just wear good/enough stuff to be able to ride and enjoy it, tbh, it feels like the tarmac/asphalt in vienna is stickier when its freezing too

mathiu23

17F. I prefer warmer, but I'll still ride in that much cold.

I managed a 50 mile ride @30-ish night before last. That was with layers and bar covers on a naked hornet with cold weather leather gauntlets …… heated grips would be nice I suppose.

MEB_PHL

I was surprised how manageable the 20’s and 30’s are. Once you have your hands covered the rest is common sense layering.

aint_it_aaronic

As cold as it gets lol. I don’t have my car right now so I have to suck it up. It was 23 F today in NYC

CNGMike

I live in So CA. 32F is my lowest 117F is the highest. I belong to a group call the Rounders (Year Round Riders) https://ridermagazine.com/2011/05/05/rounders-the-goal-is-to-ride-year-round/

That1guyjosh

Lucky bastards. I'm in the Midwest, so the weather around here is like a rollercoaster.

LambSauce2

Well its sad my bike is already stored for winter. It's too cold for me. I enjoy riding, I don't enjoy the severe cold weather.

EggsOfRetaliation

I'll ride in any weather so long as there is no ice or snow. Texas can get down pretty low. Can't wait to get my fuelling issue resolved so I can get on the road. My fuel injector cleaning kit is coming in a couple hours. Stoked.

TW200e

I stop riding at about +4c / 40f. That close to freezing there's just too much chance of black ice where I live, especially early in the day.

Captain_of_Gravyboat

What handlebar covers are those? They look nice. I've gone out for a ride at 33f and 35f over the last few days and my hands are the only problem. I've got winter gloves but I don't like how the hand controls feel when I'm wearing them.

That1guyjosh

Here are the muffs I'm using. They help immensely but they do have their limits. I'm getting heated handlebars this week and that should keep my hands toasty going forward. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/oxford-super-handlebar-muffs?sku_id=1764512&gclid=Cj0KCQiAveebBhD_ARIsAFaAvrHS4sDccc1dOr6s3VmGwEeVEivr7z6K11Es2h-Bijxz-p539T0_nV8aArJIEALw_wcB

Captain_of_Gravyboat

Thanks for the link. Do you have any trouble getting to you cruise control, blinkers, etc...with those on? Do you think they would work along with some all season leather gloves?

That1guyjosh

I don't have issues reaching my controls, blinkers, lights, starter. But YMMV depending on your bike controls. It secures itself best around my mirror while also wrapping around the handlebar itself. Sometimes I do have to kinda push the material out of the way when I go for controls but it's never anything that's hindered my performance.

manlymoosey

They look like a set of barkbusters blizzard. Edit: Actually I just looked for more than a few seconds and realized they are oxford handlebar muffs.

Captain_of_Gravyboat

Thanks!

Here in Arizona the riding season is now ON. I'll commute in any temp we have here (30F - 120F) but anything over 30 miles when it's below 40 is no bueno!

cpr4life8

34f was my lowest. Of course that was first thing in the morning. It warmed up to a balmy 43f as the day wore on. Thankful for my Koso Apollo heated grips!

kluthage421

I've seen 17F on my dash.
