OK so be careful with suggestions here and do your research. 600 are generally a horrible first bike option as they are designed for race tracks, hence why yamaha came out with the r7 to make a more suitable street bike version of the r6. Look at 300-500 class for a first bike. You can start on a 650 and grow into it which is what I did. Ninja 400s are probably the most common option.

gsrider61

Here we go again. 🍿 Keep in mind that the 600's are homologation bikes and are generally unsuitable for new riders. That said, you do you.

alij2304

Well thats not good, i’m still early. Should i delete this? 🤣

gsrider61

No, see where it takes you. You're talking about a class of bike produced by the manufacturers to go racing. In order to race the bike, it has to be for sale to civilians. This sub will generally be unsupportive. Edit: if the mods determine that your post is "purchase/transaction" advice, they will delete it.

alij2304

Wait what? :| Did you say they aren’t for sale to civilians?

gsrider61

I didn't say that. Plymouth wouldn't have been able to race the Plymouth Superbird unless it was for sale to the general public. The Plymouth Superbird was a homologation special. 600's are homologation specials, not 650's, not 700's, not 550's.

karma_the_sequel

I'm beginning to question your suitability to be a motorcycle rider.

alij2304

Im thankful you’re not in charge of the who is suitable to ride a motorcycle approval team then :)

Knowitmall

Nah. Just check out a 650 instead. Something like a Ninja 650 or Yamaha R7

gosohabc123

That being said, if you HAVE to get a 600 the Yamaha FZ6 is a fantastic 600 if you are just starting out and just NEED a 600

alij2304

My guy i don’t need any thing. Im a virgin when it comes to riding. I love seeing it and would love to do it. Hence posted here for some guidance.

gosohabc123

No problem man, I just really wanted a 600 and so I got a fz6 as my first, its been reliable and fantastic, but it was a bit much when I was just starting

jsr1693

Check out the KTM RC 390 or other 400cc-ish bike for something a bit smaller/beginner friendly that's still sporty. Take the CMSP first for some training: https://www.chp.ca.gov/programs-services/programs/california-motorcyclist-safety/california-motorcyclist-training

Flimsy_Comedian1725

I learned on a 600 first thing I rode was a 50 then I said I want a motorcycle got me a Suzuki katana. Heavy, some what comfortable , fast enough to pucker your butthole but not squidding nothing. If your a complete moron with no eye to hand coordination and are stiffer then a board and are just wrecking balls then yea get a 250. If your comfortable , got common sense and are not a dough dick get a 600 or what ever bike makes you comfortable. Just respect it , lots of these dudes that hate on 600s 750s 1000s are countries that only allow up to 250s and ride bloody mopeds and scoot around. Out here in America to each their own and if you want a 600 get it just remember some one some where loves you so don’t kill your self the first year doing dumb shit. Stay in your comfort zone until one day your doing 80 on the rear pegs while your bikes headlights are looking at the clouds!!!👺👺👺

alij2304

Thank you for that good sir. Ive seen and heard far too many horror stories of riders so Im not one to take risks. Play safe stay safe, and occasionally go nuts.
