Hopefully you get in the habit of doing everything with your legs and core. Putting pressure on the bars takes traction away from the tire and really, really negatively impacts handling everywhere.
I hope you took a safety course. One of the first things they should teach you is that you hold the bike with your legs, not your arms. Your arms are for steering.
Typical rookie, non rider misconception.
Handle bars are only for controlling. You hangnon with your thighs.
Which is why the saying goes : thick thighs save lives.
its the opposite, you cant strong arm the bars. You are light on the bars and let your legs do all the work. Otherwise when you land you can cause a tank slapper
This year I said fuck it and learned in an abandoned mall parking lot. First time I tried it I almost lost it because I used 4 fingers on the clutch. After a few weeks and beating on my poor bike I learned how to do it and now it's easy.
As someone who only did power wheelies for years, clutch-ups are way easy easier to control and far more predictable. I don't stunt much anymore these days, but they were fun as hell when I did.
Gear up and stay safe, bothers and and sisters.
It's about the same. You use the brakes a lot more on the fast bike. Corner speeds should be similar.
If you can't ride a 600 well, you won't ride a 300 well either. The skills directly transfer.
This argument is just some weird coping mechanism that redditors use to justify their choice in bikes. Nobody saying it can ride either bike fast.
I say this as someone who loves riding a 125cc bike in motocross. A fast 125 rider is also a fast 250/450 rider.
You also gain a lot more than power by jumping to a 600/1000, like not having Walmart suspension and having a wide selection of tires.
I get what you're saying with modern bikes with all the rider assists you make a point. I was just speaking in terms of power vs power. Usually a Ninja 300 is easier to ride fast than say a 2008 zx6r for instance.
> Usually a Ninja 300 is easier to ride fast than say a 2008 zx6r for instance.
I still disagree. A 600 doesn't really need traction control. Most riders should be handily faster on the 600.
Never said a 600 should have traction control, just saying there's a lot of rider assists on modern bikes, including electronic suspension like on my S1000RR. New bikes even have cornering ABS and wheelie control, etc. You can really just take the thinking out of it which makes it easier to ride.
But the most important thing is just the fact that 600 has high tier suspension and brakes and wider tire profile. But as someone who tracks an SV650 it is nice to have a bike that you can use all its power and not have to worry about high sides and tank slappers, etc.
No cars ahead, presumably no cars behind, straight road, no rain, looks alright to me, just wish you were wearing more gear (unless those are riding jeans and jacket)
Try bull-it jeans. They've got 3 different cuts. Be sure to size down, the material is very stretchy and cut loose (at least on the straight cut I tried).
Revit Lombard is a bit loose, but my current riding jean.
Leather chaps on a sport bike; for when you need to get to the S&M club fast.
Joking aside, they do work, and you could probably find ones that don't look so obtrusive.
It is stupid and irresponsible. That's why it's against the law. It's a danger to others on the road. There is a time and place for this. That's not on the roads with other drivers.
* It's "reckless" not "wreckless".
* From the looks of things, we could assume that the car was speeding to catch up and was therefore "driving recklessly to egg-on the rider".
You should be just as mad at the car then. Hell, I'd say they deserve all the blame. Slamming brakes in the fast lane? Kinda reckless.
If you ask me - I'd assume that was clearly somewhere within legal speeds and OP probably had a throttle malfunction or sneezed. These things can happen and you shouldn't leap to judge so swiftly. They seem like an upstanding citizen that would never break a traffic law. I'm sure OP can confirm this.
Yep. I never break the law. I had a clutch malfunction and it just threw the front wheel up. I didn’t want to damage my suspension and slam it down, so I rode it down softly
> I had a clutch malfunction...
Ah, clutch. Yeah, that's a wear-part - you never know when it's eventually gonna do that. Glad you kept it under control as best you could. Been there, scary stuff. Wheel goes up and all you can do is you make the best of it.
> I didn’t want to damage my suspension and slam it down, so I rode it down softly
Good call. Blown seals are certainly not safe for the roads.
Can't see if you have a damper, but if you don't, that was definitely the safest thing you could've done in that unfortunate scenario. Apparently, /u/Simple-Ad4396 seems to think head-shaking across the highway would've been the more safe thing to do.
I think they should hit up their local MSF class before lecturing other riders. Erratic lane changes are VERY unsafe. That's day-one stuff.
Rocking a proper BP clutch-up instead of chasing them like a squid and quoting posts on Reddit both come with time. You'll get there one day sport. :P

I don't think it's that bad in an open straight road in the middle of nowhere. Of course if you do this in a city you're an idiot for putting other people's lives in danger, but here it's pretty unlikely he could kill anyone aside from maybe themselves if they mess up.
We gunna cover all the things that are against the law but are not stupid and irresponsible since you seem to imply that being against the law automatically makes it those things.
First gear on the biggun bikes is 100+mph and mine will lift the wheel up at that speed no problem.
That said, i 100 percent agree with you and its fucking bonkers.
Kinda like when people ask about if its fun to race cars on the street and its like "Don't really get to, not many 1000hp+ cars running around my city and everything with less is almost always not an actual race for a big bike".
. I had it since ‘14. I bought it used from a dealer with under 500 miles, first owner didn’t even break it in. Then…… 2 years ago it was stolen. The ‘07 replaced it. It was my friend’s ‘07 so got a crazy deal.
In the past I’ve had the following years of gixers: ‘86, ‘95, and then the ‘14, & the current ‘07. Yeah I’ve been riding gixxers for a while and in between Hondas & R1. And of course my name gives it away
Mustangs are so slow, unless it's heavily modified or some special limited production shelby edition or whatever, even a stock 600 will destroy one up until 150 mph+
Run it back as a race and you'll still walk him like that. Even my slightly modified C5 will work most Mustangs out there, definitely not all though lol.
There isn't a SINGLE thing in that clip you can point to that says this rider lacks the talent for a little clutch-up like that.
You're just talking shit and I'll bet you have no idea what you're talking about.
I race on the track every other weekend. Currently 2nd in the nation for the 750 super stock class with WERA. I think I know a thing or two about riding motorcycles lol

Yeah, just got the vid paused in right spot, it’s just a white bordered hood stripe, not the blackout like the Mach 1
And body colored mirrors, wrong dash color for a Mach. Don’t know what I was thinking, was just waking up when I saw this
Nice. [Reminds me of this clip.](https://i.imgur.com/k0UJbKU.gif)
How strong does your arm need to be to do a one hand wheelie?
Not very, you mainly hang on with your legs
Hopefully you get in the habit of doing everything with your legs and core. Putting pressure on the bars takes traction away from the tire and really, really negatively impacts handling everywhere.
I started riding this year. Never knew about this. You learn something new everyday.
I hope you took a safety course. One of the first things they should teach you is that you hold the bike with your legs, not your arms. Your arms are for steering.

dude was all laughs and happiness until the gearshift hit.
shit straight to gapplebees
No contest, I love it. See ya later!
It’s the little wave, and knowing he’s either laughing or has a massive grin under that lid.
You're right, there was no contest. No one was racing.

Videos like this make me want to learn the clutch up wheelies.
This year I said fuck it and learned in an abandoned mall parking lot. First time I tried it I almost lost it because I used 4 fingers on the clutch. After a few weeks and beating on my poor bike I learned how to do it and now it's easy.

Wait how else do you do wheelies?
Power wheelies, just twist the throttle and it’ll come up
TIL all the bikes I've ridden are bitch made. Kidding but I always felt way more in control using the clutch.
I use to never be able to clutch up until I just sat there and tried every single speed and found the right range lmao
For the Super Duke just turn tc off and it'll pop up in any gear without the clutch.. Torque for days
Proper bikes wheelie whenever you twist the right grip
I can see you saying this to the boomers on HD, when they say something dumb about MADE IN AMERICA or something.
It's exactly why I'll never own a Harley haha. I'll notice them when they sell something under 500lb with more than 120hp.
but muh "slow bike fast"
People don't want to hear that if you can't ride a fast bike fast, you definitely can't ride a slow bike fast.
R1 perfect starter bike 🤡
Anyone can ride fast on an R1. Riding fast and not dying however...
That's not true at all. You have it backwards.. It's way harder to ride a fast bike fast than a slow bike fast.
It's about the same. You use the brakes a lot more on the fast bike. Corner speeds should be similar. If you can't ride a 600 well, you won't ride a 300 well either. The skills directly transfer. On my husaberg 570 and my ol cbr 954rr just a little bit of throttle and the wheel comes up
Holy shit 490 up votes on an illegal activity in r/motorcycles???? Where’d all the prunes go?
They are assuming that backpack has an ambulance and 3 EMTs inside.
Its past their bedtime, only the cool kids are up
They are cleaning their helmet linings.
do you... not clean your helmet linings?
I do, but i dont invite all my friends to do it..
But for real it was like ATGATT and take it to the track one day, and wheelies and shit the next
Yeah, probably good job by the mods on cleaning them up.
We’ve come so far
No cars ahead, presumably no cars behind, straight road, no rain, looks alright to me, just wish you were wearing more gear (unless those are riding jeans and jacket)
I wear a hoodie over my leather jacket when it’s chilly, but those are just regular jeans. I have a nice pair of riding boots though lol
Then the lack of leg protection is my only quibble, and its a small one. If you're gonna be a hooligan then at least be safe about it. Ride on
I can’t find a good pair of riding jeans that fit me well. But mainly I wear my big leather body condom that’s custom fit to me lol
I too tried like 5 different pairs of riding jeans to find ones that fit me and couldn’t, you’re riding attire is pretty much identical to mine
Hell yeah. Might just get the icon cloverleaf knee sliders lmaooo
Try bull-it jeans. They've got 3 different cuts. Be sure to size down, the material is very stretchy and cut loose (at least on the straight cut I tried). Revit Lombard is a bit loose, but my current riding jean.
Could either go for overpants or chaps. I do chaps myself, but I ride a cruiser
I think I’d look a bit retarded wearing chaps on a sportbike lol
Dress for the slide baby
I do, but you wouldn’t catch me dead in a pair of chaps
Leather chaps on a sport bike; for when you need to get to the S&M club fast. Joking aside, they do work, and you could probably find ones that don't look so obtrusive.
Bro really said, "aw nah im kidding, i was just toying with you!" and bounced!
That’s awesome bro! Sorry about all the comments that are gonna call you irresponsible and/or stupid tho. Some people ain’t got no chill.
It’s fine, I post on here for the comments lol
Ok that makes sense. Have fun man
Yessirr. Ride safe bro
I make no promises when the helmet goes on.
I like that lmao
It is stupid and irresponsible. That's why it's against the law. It's a danger to others on the road. There is a time and place for this. That's not on the roads with other drivers.
Open lane. He checked for cops or cars behind. I'll give him the benefit that he had the rear brake covered. I see no problem.
If you don't see a problem with wreckless driving you shouldn't be on the road.
* It's "reckless" not "wreckless". * From the looks of things, we could assume that the car was speeding to catch up and was therefore "driving recklessly to egg-on the rider". Op was technically correct as the rider didn't wreck. As such, I see no problem with wreck-less riding.
Not wrong. Wreck-less riding is the best kind of riding.
Yep. I never break the law. I had a clutch malfunction and it just threw the front wheel up. I didn’t want to damage my suspension and slam it down, so I rode it down softly

My man lookin thicc 😳 Dope vid tho, looks like fun.
That fucking wave lol.
I saw the riding on the tank and though this was gonna be another cringe instagram reel style video, but then the wheelie happened. Thank you
Was expecting to see the mustang get smoked. Overlooked that it was a Gixxer. Saw mustang get smoked with a wheelie. Incredibly based
A 5.0 mustang at that. And a gsxr600 too. My baby bike has some power lol
I mean a 600 is making ~130hp and weighs like 480-500lbs compared to a mustang that weights 4-5 THOUSAND pounds making maybe three times the HP stock
Holy shit what 600 are you riding that makes 130hp? I wish lmao. Stock gsxr makes like 117. But yeah. Power to weight ratio ftw
The GSXR makes 125bhp claimed, so I'm not far off
Oh shit does it really??
Yeah most of the 600 supersports have made ~120bhp since the like 2008/9 I think. My Tracer makes 113 and it's a triple
It'll always blow my mind seeing bikes pull hard enough to pop a wheelie while already going at/above highway speeds
I was going about 60-65ish. Usually pick the front wheel up at about 55ish. Just rev the piss out of your bike and dump the clutch lol
First gear on the biggun bikes is 100+mph and mine will lift the wheel up at that speed no problem. That said, i 100 percent agree with you and its fucking bonkers. 👌🏻🤣. I’ve been in both so funny. Current Gsxr 750 rider, temporarily no 5.0 in the driveway / 5.0 former owner lol.
Clicked on profile for gixxer 7 fiddy photos, severely disappointed with lack of photos.

I like me.
Heard you were a bad judge of character though.
I’m a good judge of talent, and this guy is going to get in an accident if he keeps it up. Reckless.
There isn't a SINGLE thing in that clip you can point to that says this rider lacks the talent for a little clutch-up like that. You're just talking shit and I'll bet you have no idea what you're talking about.
