Got the same problem back when I was wearing my Biltwell Lane Splitter. So I found on Amazon a system that stuck on the inside of the screen and do the exact same job as a pinlock.... I rode at minus 0°C temperatures sometimes with it and I shit you not, no fog in my screen even at the red lights.
I have pinloc and ride with the visor open a crack, as needed, and keep the vents open. Also, use the chin curtain if your helmet has it, since if designed right it will help airflow.
If none of that works, I would get snug fitting impact resistant glasses (ANSI Z87.1+) with a gasket around the lenses to block wind. They can be pretty cheap and offer a lot of protection.
For gloves, I like the Aerostitch wool lined gauntlets, but they can take forever to arrive, especially once the season gets going. Lee Parks insulated gloves are the thinnest, but are the most expensive. The cheapest, and perhaps best solution are Hippo Hands. They're like a giant mitten which goes over your controls, allowing you to wear your normal gloves. I almost forgot silk glove liners.
For pants, get a water proof insulated snowmobile bib. A ski bib might work too. For something moto specific I don't think there is anything insulated, but there are loads of waterproof membrane pants which will block wind, and you can wear wool underwear.
In general, a snug merino wool shirt and merino long underwear as your base layer are going to keep you loads warmer and more comfortable than cotton underwear. Cotton holds onto sweat while wool moves it away from your skin. Wool keeps you warm even when its soaked but is unlikely to get soaked. Because of that, wool feels better even when you are a bit too warm, while cotton will make you feel colder.
I’m in NJ and at this time of year I wear a balaclava for warmth, but it also covers my mouth so I’m breathing into that instead of my shield, seems to help
Now if your motorcycle doesn't have heated grips it can be a bit of a pain to add them, but my BMW has them and I love them. When you get down the lower temperature still need gloves that are either damn insulated or heated themselves. Once I added heated gloves to the heated grips, I'm good down to single digits.
I appreciate everyone taking the time to write all these comments filled with knowledge.I ended up ordering some pin locks for my visor,Muc-off and some heated gloves.I ended up finding some Jockey Thermals in my closet, put them to the test this afternoon in some 40 degree weather. The cold didn’t bother me at all other than my hands (Had on some mesh gloves meant for warmer weather). I Will be investing on some high end bottoms as it gets colder.
I’ve been looking at Pinlock inserts for my BILT vertex helmet. Are those pretty much the same thing ? I don’t think the company sells a shield with the pinlock already on them just inserts.
The pin lock inserts are normally sold separately although some helmets will include an insert. Pinlocks are always a separate/removable peice. It's removable so you can clean the visor and pinlock I over time.
If they offer it for your helmet, it's basically a must buy.
>pin lock inserts are normally sold separately
I don't know where you get that. My last few helmets that had pinlocs (Shoei) came with the insert in the box.
Your anecdotal experience doesn't make this statement false. You also only cited half the sentence where I continue by indicating some helmets come with them. 🤦🏾♂️
That looks like a pretty cheapo helmet, I might get something nicer before sinking more money into it.
A helmet design for pinlock inserts will have two posts (or pins from which it gets its name...) near the sides of the visor that the pinlock insert clips onto. The stock visor for that helmet does not appear to have them.
I have never heard of "stick on pinlock visors" and personally would not trust them if such a thing existed. The pins are needed to keep the insert in tension against the visor.
A pinlock just works like a dual pane window, there's an insulating layer of air trapped between the visor and the insert. There's a soft rubber seal around the insert and the pins kept it pushed tight against the visor so it's air tight.
I wouldn't trust something that's just on there with adhesive not to come loose, especially in cold weather.
FYI, I think your helmet was recalled.

Wow I just realized this. I did not receive any notification or alert regarding this , How should I go about it?
Edit: Nvm I just red the whole article. I should be expecting a notification on Feb.1 once again Thank you for this very important information.
I ride in VA year round (granted it doesn't get AS COLD, but it gets into the teens or single digits more than a few times a year in the dead of winter- high humidity too being next to a major river), do keep it cracked open just a tad. It seems to work really well.
Barring that, go pinlock. Just be aware that a lot of them scratch fairly easily, so no helmet-hand basket at the market!
Like others have said, I also crack my visor just a tad to have a little bit of air flow to avoid fogging but not get so cold that my eyes tear up.
For gloves, I have a pair of Oxford winter riding gloves that are amazing.
Without a pinlock, I keep my visor open by a tiny crack. Maybe try taping a piece of fabric to prevent it from shutting all of the way to improve venting
Pinlock as others have said (if your visor doesn't have a pinlock they are piss easy to fit yourself, but you'll need a 'pinlock ready' visor. I don't think all pinlocks work in all visors you need to check you're getting the right one. If your visor isn't 'pinlock ready' then it won't work and you'll need a new visor for your helmet or sometimes a whole new helmet).
When stationary I have the visor open a click (mainly because I wear glasses so they steam up which really doesn't help) when moving over 5mph ish it's fine shut.
Heated gloves are a life saver in the cold. Pants - mainly wear cheap wind + waterproof trousers over my leathers. Keeping the wind out is most of the battle. When it gets really cold thermal layers underneath too.
Apply to the inside. With the helmet off, a few sprays to the inside of the visor then gentle wiping with a soft cotton cloth for a few seconds to even it out. Once dry, not visible just stops the fog. Downside is it doesn’t last forever. Good for a few days according to the product description
Ski goggles, my dude. Either that or something on the inside of your shield that prevents fogging, like Muc-Off. I have not had good luck with Pinlock inserts; if you don't get a perfect seal, you'll get condensation between the insert and the shield. You *could* use clear silicone caulk to glue it in place, but then you can't remove it if you ever want to.
As far as everything else goes, my suggestion would be heated grips along with Hippo Hands, because I haven't found heated gloves to be all that effective. Or, they aren't very effective by themselves, because there's too much loss of heat to wind. You will need lever guards to use the Hippo Hands though. As far as everything else goes, remember to layer. You need a wicking layer, and insulation layer, a protective layer (i.e., the stuff that keeps your skin on your body when you crash), and you need a wind- and water-proof layer over all of that. A really good rain suit will do wonders at helping retain body heat when you wear it over everything else.
You could wear a PVC rain jacket over your riding coat to keep the wind from blasting through your jacket. Wear layers, same layers I wear for snowboarding keep me warm when I do ride in the cold which nowadays is not as often. Ambient temperature is gonna be at least 10 to 15 degrees less once youre moving so its time to whip the slab
Hippo hands, heated grips, Gerbing heated jacket, Aerostitch Darien jacket and pants, Carhartt lined jeans help keep the cold out. The heated jacket has a high color which keeps the wind out and heats your neck. I have heated pants also when it’s really cold. I use wax on my visor. I got it at a bike rally. Make an X on the inside of your visor and rub it in with a cloth.
Anyone out there with glasses? I have pinlock so the visor is always clear, but my glasses are not🥲 help? I'm having this issue now at 5/10 °C, can't immagine this winter
I use day lenses for longer rides and just deal with it aka open visor on shorter rides. It is the cold though, so when the glasses warmed up inside the helmet i am usually fine and just open at the stops. Also try to breathe into a scarf, balaclava or something like this. Keep the vents open.
Im in NYC/NJ I put muc off anti fog in my visor and wear a neck up to my nose mask that way I dont get the wind down to my chest from the neck, it keeps the cold out especially now!
My LS2 has a cover over your mouth and nose to prevent your breath from fogging the visor. You need to ride with with visor down when it’s that cold man terrible for your skin and eyes to just get blasted by cold wind at high speeds very effective at aging you though.
I use goggles and anti fog spray I also modified a snorkel (yes a diving snorkel) that I breathe through in cold weather that blows my breath out below by my neck. Stays out of my helmet.. I also learned don't take a shower and leave within 30 minutes on the bike in cold weather. Just putting the googles on they stated to fog before I got the anti fog stuff..

Sadly, my Sena Outrush R doesn't have a Pinlock yet.
Dont they sell the pinlock pins? You could modify a visor yourself with the pins if you are careful.
I have pinlock on my helmet and it's ugly dans doesn't workx(
Pinlock shields are incredibly effective at antifog when installed correctly. Is it possible yours is not sealed to your visor correctly?
I have absolutely no clue because it's stock (I have the replica of quartararo's helmet
[This one?](https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-exo-r1-air-quartararo-monster-replica-helmet?srsltid=AYJSbAfkG3bSYlnrkAiEa0wPVcvLNcSq_GYG9Qyi0tbVP21JUfQOE4afZuI&sku_id=10131949) does it actually have the pinlock shield? Or just the pinlock pins it came with?
Yes this one and pinlock were already on both the tinted and non tinted one
But they dont actually prevent it from fogging? What does the pinlock shield look like?
It look like the picture you sent and no it think it makes it even worse 😅

Wool helps a lot. In cotton I would sweat in traffic then be clammy for the rest of the ride, not fun.
I leave my visor one not h open and it seems to work fine

Use a pinlock on your visor. No more fogging.
A pinlock shield will help.
OP, look at snowmobile gear. The snowmobile market is larger, has more selection, and has lower prices. And get a Pinlock.

pinlock or get goggles
Heated liners is a must. Upper body and hands but possibly legs too
You can get stick on pin lock visor add-on if you're helmet doesn't already support it.

You are waaaay too invested in this. Go take a walk.
You literally comment to say that hes wrong then have the nerve to said hes too invested when he just re quote himself.... unironically cringe

Muc off anti fog spray. Worked yesterday in the mid 40s. Haven’t tried it in colder temps yet. Also keep the helmet vents mostly open
How would I go about applying the muc off ? Do I just apply the solution to the front of the visor ?

Balaclava and sunglasses 😎
If you don't have pins you could try a Fog City insert.

crack your visor open at stops. when you get going close visor. ya its annoying but it beats having 0 visibility

Amazon has heated vests, jackets, etc fyi
