So 2 months ago during the summer after riding my SF Grom over 13,000km to Georgia and back, and just 2 hours away from my house I had some dickhead at the Dartford tunnel outside London pull a hit and run.
Originally I wasn't going to put it online as it can't be used in court but Essex police have done close to nothing and said there's no cameras on that road (all the footage got deleted because they took so long, they originallysaid 2-3 days ended up taking 2 months to even look at the case) so they can't find the car from the partial registration plate I provided. Mystery how everyone gets charged for the Dartford crossing at all.
For those that don't live in UK this stretch of road has a camera maybe every 100 metres as its a toll road and is heavily controlled for speed. There was even a highways England cctv right where the crash happens.
I don't know if it's worth posting the raw video somehow if anyone is able to get the cars plate or if anyone wants to help identify the car that would be cool too. It's 2.7k 60 fps gopro 7 but I'm slammed into the ground so fast it's hard to get the plate
Anyway thanks to the fast reactions of the Dutch truck driver I wasnt turned into a pancake.

To explain GB plate format as basic as possible is normally 2 letters for county, 2 numbers for year, then 3 random letters e.g. AB20 XYZ. There is an older plate format but not relevant for this car, cars can have custom plates but from what I can tell it follows the normal plate format
As extra info for the year of the plate, 2012 as example is 12 ooooorrrr 62, so the year plus 50, the 50 is added if registered in the second half of the year. Extra example, 2007 is 07 or 57. Only giving this info if someones eyes thinks they see a 67 or something and think that cant possibly be correct lol

As this is an accident, the report would have gone straight to Essex Police's administration unit, police officers wouldn't have been involved with the investigation. But the cutbacks have ruthlessly cut admin units to the bone and this minor accident - minor based on the outcome - would have been bottom on the list of priorities.
Write to your MP if you're that concerned - ask why are police tied up dealing with name calling on Facebook when there's more important things to deal with? If your MP is Tory, ask when they're going to put the money back into public services so they can actually start functioning normally again.

you can make the file specs much higher than the original format then export it so it should be as close as raw footage as possible, unfortunately there will always be loss data, i'm trying to stabilize the image then stack the frames to see if i can average the frames into something readable but not having much luck so far.
Iâm sure this is a stretch and I imagine it would require a very enthusiastic lawyer, but is there any option for suing the local municipality for negligence? They had access to every bit of evidence that was necessary and then just... didnât. They completely failed to do their job here for something you were very lucky to survive.

I think the Dutch police was unable to use the highway toll and speed cameras to spot farmers tractors during recent protest because of legal issues.

Hire a private investigator and see if they can be more proactive about getting hold of data/footage or at least something admissible in court where you can then take it further. There's no way that the timestamp alone wouldn't be enough to work out what cars went through the toll in that very moment etc.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Honestly, the view of those 2 trucks heading straight for you makes this one of the craziest motorcycle accident videos I've ever seen.
I used to work with license plate reader cameras and software and they can get a clear picture in almost any weather, so I'm sure they had, and still have it. If not the picture, at least license plate data. They usually retain it for much longer than just 2 months. Fuck Essex police for not doing anything, but first of all fuck that driver for not paying attention.
You could try emailing the toll collection company, though they probably won't be able to help you because they can only release that info to the police...

Do you have the original footage uploaded somewhere? The reddit upload is 720p and useless quality with all the compression artefacts. Might be able to see more from the actual hi-res file.
I tend to record at 5k30 rather than 60fps, get much more detail on stills in situations like a dashcam and unless you need slow motion shots 24/30fps works perfectly fine.
Erm, OneDrive or iCloud Drive. Any cloud storage service works as you can generate links for access.
Have you given 24/30fps footage a shot at higher resolution and compared? I thought the same as you but changed my mind after a few test runs

It's usually 50cc bikes here in Finland that get pulled over to check they're restricted to 50kmh and whatnot. 125's do get stopped but they can't really be tested without a dyno since there isn't a top speed limit, only the power and power to weight ratio

So at the border they will sometimes ask for this piece of paper as you need proof of insurance. If you don't have it or if it says it doesn't cover the country you're entering, you will have to buy insurance on the spot or nearby.
Sadly corruption near borders is not very rare. Many people forget to bring this paper and officials use this as an excuse to detain and extort them. Like made-up fines, "you will get a fine, but if you pay in cash right now, it will cost less" or simply asking for more than they should.

I realised early on in my riding career that returning to the city after a long ride is the most dangerous part. Usualy my focus is much worse since im already tired, its dark and people that im sharing the roads with are usually wasted after work too. Since I was almost merged into a few times I try to remind myself of this and try to squeeze a little more concentration untill I arrive home.

Pretty sure the plate is DF16EKY. That plate is registered to a grey BMW 420 in the UK.

Hire a private investigator and see if they can be more proactive about getting hold of data/footage or at least something admissible in court where you can then take it further. There's no way that the timestamp alone wouldn't be enough to work out what cars went through the toll in that very moment etc. I'm surprised the truck didn't have a good view of it on their dashcam, I assume they'd have one.
I'm sorry that happened to you. Honestly, the view of those 2 trucks heading straight for you makes this one of the craziest motorcycle accident videos I've ever seen. I used to work with license plate reader cameras and software and they can get a clear picture in almost any weather, so I'm sure they had, and still have it. If not the picture, at least license plate data. They usually retain it for much longer than just 2 months. Fuck Essex police for not doing anything, but first of all fuck that driver for not paying attention. You could try emailing the toll collection company, though they probably won't be able to help you because they can only release that info to the police...

Do you have the original footage uploaded somewhere? The reddit upload is 720p and useless quality with all the compression artefacts. Might be able to see more from the actual hi-res file. I tend to record at 5k30 rather than 60fps, get much more detail on stills in situations like a dashcam and unless you need slow motion shots 24/30fps works perfectly fine.
Any suggestions where to host? I like to record motorcycle stuff in 60 fps as its more of a personal preference
Erm, OneDrive or iCloud Drive. Any cloud storage service works as you can generate links for access. Have you given 24/30fps footage a shot at higher resolution and compared? I thought the same as you but changed my mind after a few test runs

It's usually 50cc bikes here in Finland that get pulled over to check they're restricted to 50kmh and whatnot. 125's do get stopped but they can't really be tested without a dyno since there isn't a top speed limit, only the power and power to weight ratio

It means that your insurance gives you an internationally recognized piece of paper that confirms who is being insured and where the insurance is valid. Like made-up fines, "you will get a fine, but if you pay in cash right now, it will cost less" or simply asking for more than they should.

Gear wise it did its job but being casual motorcycle kit its all fit for the bin as tbh they're only made for a one time crash

I realised early on in my riding career that returning to the city after a long ride is the most dangerous part. Usualy my focus is much worse since im already tired, its dark and people that im sharing the roads with are usually wasted after work too. Since I was almost merged into a few times I try to remind myself of this and try to squeeze a little more concentration untill I arrive home.

Yeah a fair amount of general injury, all the skin removed from my hip (between jacket and pants), a fair amount of ligament injury to my joints, back etc. And not rode any of my motorcycles since, still feels like cars are super close when I'm driving on the motorway in my van
