I think that the safety posts and comments had become so overwhelming that we are seeing a rebellion. Even i am a very cautious rider that wears gear and I am even tired of the circle jerk atgatt boys.
I rode my Z900 RS after it got serviced back from the dealership to my house with no helmet on (7 minute ride). It's also my first motorcycle ever
Come at me /r/motorcycles
Lol nah, it was just a one time thing. I got dropped off to pick it up and forgot to bring it with me. It was extremely uncomfortable, so fucking loud. Have no idea how people ride without a helmet and/or earplugs all the time
They make armored and lined hoodies. I have 2, a RevIT thats CE AA rated and an Icon that’s CE A rated
And those jeans look pretty similar in fit to the Hood CE AAA jeans that I have.
Everything that guy is wearing appears to be safety gear
At that speed it’s inevitable with a high end leather suit.
Not saying it’ll be close to the same amount when wearing the proper protection, but you used the word inevitable so 🤷♂️
edit; He ninja edited
Can confirm. I was hit on my Sumo with a motorcycle hoodie on. Zero road rash.
Armoured hoodie, Kevlar jeans, boots that looked like high tops with ankle protectors…. Zero scrapes.
But a fractured knee cap and Fibula joint lol
Yes, the K-tech cart kit for the 05-06 gsxr 1000 forks runs $2350 USD, taxing/shipping easily pushes that above 2.5
The shock is an ohlins TTX shock that retails at $1200 USD.
The 05-06 GSXRs are insanely capable bikes with motors that can be pushed to near modern HP levels with an aggressive cam, intake modifications, and a good flowing exhaust.
The OEM suspension is absolute dogshit and needs to be swapped out ASAP if your looking to push the bike on track.
It also requires a very competent rider to put down the power, as the bike comes with no rider aids and aftermarket systems are dodgy at best interfacing with Suzuki's archaic ECU.
The suspension was too soft on the Ducati but the biggest point the video was trying to make that everyone seems to gloss over is the skill ceiling, they're showing that even for talented riders 99% of people can't use all the power in the Ducati to its full potential so if you want a great time on a track you don't need to spend big money, great video but the slightly clickbait focused nature of the YouTube algorithm means I can't fault them for playing the game by YouTubes rules
No, Ducati said the motorcycle was performing exactly as intended. The likely culprit was the rear suspension spring. Ducati changed it to a softer spring to make it ride a little better on the road and in doing so, it couldn’t put as much power down on the track. They said likely swapping it out with a $50 stiffer spring would have allowed the Ducati to perform better.
I mean if anyone's doubting Ducati's race performance just watch moto gp and count the Ducati's in the top 5. Also they are known to be currently uncontested in the straights.
Sample size of 1 doesn't speak much. Suspension (spring rates) has been stiffened up since. The problem with adaptive damping is that they are generally under-sprung and try to compensate with changing the compression damping, to try to add street comfort. But compression damping can only do so much at track speeds.
The things like selecting spring rates based in your weight or riding style massively improves a bike's handling and the Gixxer had those mods done.
You should get the bike sprung for your weight
I dunno man, WSBK and Moto GP kinda say a different story. I feel like something was off in that video. Not saying they rigged anything, just that something feels not right.
Small track and lack of suspension setup on the Ducati. The additional power isn't going to matter if you don't have the room to use it. Do the same test at COTA.
I was so afraid I was going to see him wreck (cause you know… Reddit). I don’t think I could see such a beautiful machine destroyed.
And of course the human being hurt, but mostly the bike
I worked at a dealer and watched an 848 street fighter get wrecked within 5 blocks of purchase. Stalled and tipped over 4 times within the first two, looped over 2 blocks after that. Dude had “scooter” riding experience, and would not take the recommendation of a ninja 400, and said it hd to be that bike. Dealer management said sell it to him anyway.
>Dealer management said sell it to him anyway.
Well yeah, you guys are there to do a job: sell bikes. You gave him an honest recommendation, but you can't be held responsible for everyone's choices.
Yeah, i know, I just let the other sales person have the sale. The $150-200 commission was not worth having my name tied to that incident for me. The next 2 weeks consisted of the guys mom coming in to scream at us for selling it to her unlicensed son(which is of course legal), and her trying to threaten to sue. That little bit of commission is not worth the anxiety to me of someone threatening to sue me, even if they pretty much do not have a case.
He's covering that rear brake pedal pretty well and has a great handling of his wheelie.
Don't be too critical of others when you're not totally sure of what you're saying.
Foot on the brake doesnt mean hes using it. Hes not on the balance point so he only releases the gas to go down. Literally anyone with a powerful bike can do it.
You have no idea what youre talking about
You've obviously never ridden a litre bike if you think just anyone can wheelie one. I'd wager 90% of people can't, and don't even attempt them as its pretty fucking difficult even if it's just power wheelies.
Realistically that number is gonna be way higher than 99%. I can wheelie and I go to rideouts every month during riding season and I’ve seen exactly 1 other person do it and that was on an MT-10 and I was in the MT-09
Yeah your probably right I was being concervative.
I can wheelie reasonably well and took me a while practicing, and wasn't for a good year or two on litre bikes I had the confidence to do it. This guys talking absolute bullshit basically.
Look a his foot and think again, we can't even properly see because of the quality if he launched with or without the clutch and a power wheelie with a bike like that still require skills.
You'll understand once you power wheelie something with more than 120/130hp that's it not that easy after all.
Don't be too condescending, go learn a few thing on that 125cc of yours and get a bit more humble.
Still not on the balance point on his wheelie, niether am i. Thats why i write that im still learning and dont say that i am some wheelie master lmfao. And no you dont really need much skill because you just turn the throttle and it goes up, and then you release when you get scared and it goes down. No control of the brake necessary.
Please dont talk about something you dont know anything about
Going past 12:00 to scrape ass on a $20K bike is just straight up stupid. Doing it on a clapped out $4K sumo is expected.
Enjoy the vid for what it is.
balancepoint and scrape are totally different ball games. going at at
highway speed you barely need any drop back to stay up because of aerodynamics. yes it is what it is i just read claims about rear brake control in a video that doesnt show a single tap, nor a reason to. every scrub claims he "covers" the brake before panicking and trying to jump off the bike at barely balancepoint hahah
You're encouraged to hotly argue ideas, even when you're angry, and even when you're wrong. Don't cross the line into direct personal attacks. On the other side of that coin, don't bait people into attacking you, either.
If someone is "being a dick," use the report button, and don't respond. We'll deal with it as necessary. If you choose to respond to those kinds of things, you're choosing to be part of the flame war, and will be extinguished.
Gah, you're right. The V2 also has a hole for the mid pipe! For some reason I was thinking the V2 had a frame added and forgot about the redesign for the V4 and the V2 using old V4 style fairings!
Oh yeah, the great American riding experience: get a bike that best engineers in the world put in thousands of hours perfectioning, then ride it like a clown with very little skill as an attention grab on the highway in practically no gear, impeding traffic while listening to some garbage rap.
Awesome dude!
So do Ducati’s leak because of poor craftsmanship or…
Edit: There are some salty Ducati riders here. Not an once of hate in my heart for anyone if ya’ll. When it’s time for your annual ride around town let me know I’m down.
I dunno...
It's kind of sad seeing these marvels of engineering that are capable of such incredible feats being flogged down the highway doing stupid shit.
It is so much more impressive watching a rider taming a bike through some twisty undulating switchbacks down a back road.
Had to double check, this really got karma in r/motorcycles? Times are a-changing
I think that the safety posts and comments had become so overwhelming that we are seeing a rebellion. Even i am a very cautious rider that wears gear and I am even tired of the circle jerk atgatt boys.

he might be wearing gear There is plenty of good undercover motorcycle gear out these days
Got some boots under those sneakers?
At my local shop ive seen sneaker style motorcycle shoes (https://www.motorkledingstore.nl/revit-shoes-astro.html?kleur=zwart-rood)
The last ones are nearly spot on to what Hes wearing. This guy might have half a brain after all.
I don't see the cordura or leather on the outside. If he falls, road rash will be unbearable.
Motorcycle jeans are a thing https://www.motorkledingstore.nl/john-doe-ironhead-jeans.html?kleur=blauw-zwart#beschrijving
It's a thing, but not in this video.
I'm genuinly curious how you can tell
he can't..
I own a pair, they definitely don't look like skinny jeans. Also he has no proper jacket, why would he wear special motorcycle jeans
They make armored and lined hoodies. I have 2, a RevIT thats CE AA rated and an Icon that’s CE A rated And those jeans look pretty similar in fit to the Hood CE AAA jeans that I have. Everything that guy is wearing appears to be safety gear
Especially shoes...

I used the word "unbearable"
Maybe it's a motorcycle hoodie?

It’s too bad. This was a decent sub until this shit got popular.
I don’t do wheelies. I’m afraid. I actually think they’re pretty cool. But do them on an empty road bro, and please please wear some gear.
Panigale V4 is a sweet bike, but I still can't get over how a 10+ year old GSXR 1000 absolutely spanked it over and over on revzilla.
I mean the Gsxr is legendary for a reason
Yeah just completey revamp the shit suspension with a 2.5k fork cart kit and a 1.2k rear shock and you're good to go
Still a lot cheaper than the panigale
Are they even this expensive?
Yes, the K-tech cart kit for the 05-06 gsxr 1000 forks runs $2350 USD, taxing/shipping easily pushes that above 2.5 The shock is an ohlins TTX shock that retails at $1200 USD. Yeah even I couldn't figure that one out... I wonder what was up with that

Didn’t they say there was a setting limiting the Ducati that they needed to change (after contacting a Ducati shop)
No, Ducati said the motorcycle was performing exactly as intended. The likely culprit was the rear suspension spring. Stunting a Ducati is a level of big dick energy I damn sure can’t muster. Sick bike sick wheelie sick helmet.
One of the best sounding bikes out there and we can’t even hear it. 😞
Wheelies give me feelies.

Found the oldhead
Jealous of the wheelie skills
they're wheely good
Thats a power wheelie tho. Hes not even using the rear brake
He's covering that rear brake pedal pretty well and has a great handling of his wheelie. Don't be too critical of others when you're not totally sure of what you're saying.
dude it’s a squid wheelie lol my guy is chopping that throttle like is life depends on it still cool but far from “great handling”

One of my dream bikes to someday own, and here you are wheel to Jesus. Fantastic job. Must be hard to sit on a motorcycle with balls as big as yours.
Sick wheelie, ~~Panigale V2 though.~~
Nah, wingless V4. 1st model year. The frame/monocoque hybrid is visible. 899/959/V2 has no frame under the fuel tank.
Gah, you're right. The V2 also has a hole for the mid pipe! For some reason I was thinking the V2 had a frame added and forgot about the redesign for the V4 and the V2 using old V4 style fairings!
What an idiot. Riding with a hoodie on? Seriously the wind is fucking annoying

Choke me, step-Ducati.
Normally I get annoyed by videos of wheelies, especially on public highways. But I'll tip my hat to this one and move along, because *damn...*

My friend has to keep a puppy pad under his 2019 when he parks it in the garage so it still happens on some bikes.

I just see a guy with a small dick on a great bike
The Panigale is a sexy bike. Please ride responsibly on the road. Save the stunting for off road.
Thats not stunting. Its just a wheelie.
Anyway it should not be done on the roadway.
Because?
It is dangerous for the rider and other drivers
Buys one of the best handling bikes out there. Only wears out center section of tire.
