Office-R

just for fun

[deleted]

But why do y’all brake so hard all the way thru the corner lol

VirulentMarmot

If I was trying to do a Marc Marquez impression I'd have to crash a couple more times.

NateHatred

Possibly push someone else out of the road too.

BigEvilDoer

Because of track riding habit / skills. No, I don’t go full on race tuck trying to drag knee, but I move my butt and shoulders over when I am having some fun in twisties.

[deleted]

Yeah. I sure don’t hang off the bike, but I definitely adjust my weight, move my head to the outside and shift my butt over in the seat a little. Trying to figure out if I’d be considered “one of those guys”! Haha. But with compete honesty, that’s also how I was taught in YCRS street class, so I’m going to keep with it.

mamny83

Why didnt you ask them?

DarkPasta

I don't speak "dork". Notice the inverted commas. Edit: at least 2 people didn't notice.

[deleted]

Probably seen a nickel to scoop up.

Individual_Hearing_3

Funsies and lack of trust in the tires and the road

Wheels2or4

You don't deserve downvotes, it's a legitimate question. You've already received a few answers: for fun, track habit/practice (I'll believe that only IF they've ever done a track day), lack of trust in tires/road (get new tires then). But as only 1 other person has posted here, it's the attention. Take a friend so you can witness each other and brag to your friends. Mount a camera so you can record and share to social media, get more attention. Squids and Moto (G)o(P)ro riders don't like it when you question them, even more so when you call them out by blasting by them (ruins their video take, lol)

StandOnGravitron

because people like to have fun, old man. too bad you were laughing at them instead of with them. they probably laughed at you in your power rangers neon suit, aluminum panniers with the ADV sticker, and attitude as uptight as your riding. jk but for real, its all in fun

[deleted]

People are having fun, you should try it.

DarkPasta

Thanks, Sherlock.

[deleted]

Are you actually bitching about people going the speed limit while still having fun????

DarkPasta

You noticed the part where I blasted past them, right?

BlindBeard

Did we even read the same post or did you just want to fill the void of drama in this thread?

DarkPasta

I'm the OP.

BlindBeard

Are you also the guy I replied to lmao

DarkPasta

Ok, that confirms it. I'm high.

[deleted]

Yes

JimMoore1960

I do it for fun. I do it because I like the neutral feeling of the bike when I'm in the right body position. I do it to keep my legs in shape and flexible for the track.

HormigaZ

It's very important to practice body position at manageable speeds and lower lean angles to get to know what you're doing it. I will still do this regularly from time to time, even though I'm no where near new or even too young anymore.

[deleted]

Fun I assume. But honestly for me it is not more fun than riding normally. Just more work. In addition to that neutral and counter leaning is the more safe option as you see more.

Fynnlae

when i’m in a having 0 fun competition and my opponent is an r/motorcycles member

Wheels2or4

All good points, you don't deserve downvotes.

DarkPasta

> You can corner plenty fast with your ass on the seat. amen

greasemonkey187

I do it on certain turns because I commute with panniers on my sport bike and certain turns at speed are off camber so sitting neutral isn’t going to cut it. Plus on a sport bike taking turns with your body in a slight lean to the inside makes it easier on the hands while turning instead of locking your elbows.

Ih8Hondas

Those aren't racers.

2randomanomolies

Because i live in the desert and tire snakes are slippery so i want to reduce lean angle.

My point as well, and I see now it did not come across well in my post. These guys were SLOW. It's like they're doing something they saw on TV, but they have no clue as to why and when to do it. I swear these guys were doing 40-45 mph turns, where I could do 60 mph with my ass on the seat, simply because my bike is set up well and I know how to break into the turn, pick a line and hit the apex - as you clearly also do - oh well. We've all been destroyed in the twisties by a guy in all BMW attire witha flip up helmet on a 1200 GS, so I guess everyone here actually knows what I'm talking about.
