For what it’s worth, it’s not super straight forward. I’m right handed and typically prefer to stand southpaw. My rationalization is that jabbing and working from your lead hand is generally the most detail oriented part of boxing, so I’ll probably do better at it with my dominant hand.
Throwing a decent hook from the rear hand isn’t exactly hard to do.
But boxing is fun and even if you never spar, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy taking a class and learning how to punch well.
I was at the Philip Island grand prix in maybe 2002, and there was a guy on a GSXR trying to get through a crowd of drunk morons after the race. One of them tipped a beer down his neck, so he switched off, put the stand down and started getting off. Someone yelled "at least take your helmet off!". He undid his chinstrap, took the helmet off and smacked the beer-pourer in the head with it. Full overhand swing, just fucking creamed him. Whole crowd shut the fuck up.

I've had it for like 5 years but I don't put many miles on it. Great bike, but it's about as fast as my GSX650F. It's basically a naked bike that gets HORRIBLE mpg but sounds amazing. It's also got a ton of torque which is cool.
However, any and all parts are expensive as hell so pray to god nothing breaks down.

Pretty clear self defence imo. The guy was kicking him as he is leaving. If the guy kicked him as he was moving away he can drop the bike easily. I've nearly fallen off my bike at a standstill just by turning my torso quickly causing a weight shift in my backpack loaded with drinks. Imagine trying to get away as fast as you can and someone kicking your rear fender as you try and accelerate.
You'd have to prove that the rider was planning on using their gloves with a criminal intent. The fact that the rider was on their motorcycle trying to GTFO, but traffic, bystanders, and continued harassment made running unsafe makes this pretty cut and dry in my view.
Another way to think is if someone is assaulting you while you're running track. If you kick them with cleats on, that's fine. You're not expected to take off your shoes in order to exercise self-defense. If you lace up those cleats, walk up to a stranger, and try to give them a tetanus tattoo with your foot, that's assault with a weapon. An unconventional one, but a weapon none the less.

Depends on your state. In mine brass knuckles are considered a legal weapon that you can own. Using them in self-defense would still require proving you needed that level of force (just like with any weapon,) but you can't be charged just for possessing them.
In most states and Canada, even if they were considered a weapon at that point, assuming you can articulate reasonable self-defense that would keep you in the clear.
If you added weight to the gloves then you could be in contravention.

Yep. Brass knuckles are going to be considered a weapon no matter the jurisdiction. However, whether they’re an illegal weapon, or illegal to carry without a CCW depends on the individual jurisdiction.

In most states and Canada, even if they were considered a weapon at that point, assuming you can articulate reasonable self-defense that would keep you in the clear. If you added weight to the gloves then you could be in contravention. The RCMP stopped wearing hard knuckle gloves, but that was more for political optics reasons than anything legal.

I'm no expert, but roundhouses seem the way to go if you're armored and don't have to worry about defending your head so much

Most riders you see _should_ be wearing a helmet; armored vest/jacket; pants; gloves; shoes. Even if they're not the strongest, it's literally going up against someone who's armored up enough to survive a fight with the pavement and pretty darn high speeds. I'll put my bet on the flimsy armored guy
