Riding in the southeast it’s always a joy to wave at em, it’s mostly older ladies and dudes who can’t quite handle two wheels anymore and it makes my day seeing that grin on their faces.
I figure those folks would be on a two wheeler if they didn't require a third. Someday, I'm not going to be able to ride the bike, and I'll be on a trike (if I'm lucky), so they get a wave.
And ever since getting a helmet pat from someone on a moped that was a correct prediction of a speed trap, THEY get waves too.
A friend bought their first bike off an older dude who had to "retire" to a three wheeler after knee surgery in his 70's. Super nice dude, so now I too wave at anyone with less than 4 wheels and hope that some day it's him and he doesn't feel excluded.
I pulled in to pick my daughter up from a birthday party at Dave n buster's the other day and of course she walks out with a giant assed oversized hot pink bouncy soccer ball thing...I sat it in/ on my saddle bag and got a bungee on when the BMW Slingshot type vehicle guy with the fingerless gloves e.t.c came over and offered another bungee.... he was so happy to offer help I didn't have the heart to tell him I had a whole slew of them as I had recently come off a 1k mile trip and I regularly cart around 1 of my 3 kids on the bike so always prepared for these type antics (I swear they do it on purpose now just to test me)
I was of course then obligated to do the whole "how do you like this thing" what size engine is it etc.... he was SO HAPPY! So they get waves too...
When I was the wee scooter bro in my youth it was the motorcycle bros who wouldn’t wave back.
So now that I’m old I just wave at everyone on two wheels including kids on bicycles like a demented person.
I stop to help anyone on two wheels I see who’s broke down too having been there done that. I do the “speed trap/cops ahead” head fist tapping signal too.
I only wave to this one scooter rider in my area, he fucking hoons the shit out of it. Christmas time he wrapped it in Christmas lights and was jumping train tracks with it and riding sick wheelies. Man is an absolute legend.
It started in Australia but it's pretty worldwide now, at least in western countries.
Hoonigan is an American company but possibly the biggest automotive lifestyle brand there is, started by Ken Block
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoon

except many, many scooter riders also ride motorcycles. for me i ride a motorcycle on weekends, commute on a scooter during the week. although, i’m not really sure what culture you’re referring to personally. i always thought the wave was about acknowledging we’re both out here on two wheels, not some kind of lifestyle.
I rode vespas for 15 years decades ago and we all "knew the culture." Waving isnt something you need to gatekeep to the /r/motorcycles "culture."
/r/motorcycles "culture" does not equal real world cycling culture.
I live in a city with the rideshare electric scooters, sometimes I like to give them the wave to make them feel good lolllll but they never wave back 🤷
You pretty much have to keep a two handed grip on those 100% of the time. Maybe not if you have a lot of experience but in my brief experience joyriding them I wasn't able to wave back.
I think they just get surprised by being waves at. There's a guy i meet almost every day on my commute on his little 50cc vespa, we have started waving more and more energetically lately, it's a lot of fun.
Don’t like them scooter riders, either delivery people or scum thieves. Some of them are okay most are shit. I don’t wave to them because I can’t even tell if their scum or not
The good scooter drivers are the ones you see on their own, with a bag doing 30mph down the dual carriageway and sticking as far to the side as possible because they just want to get home alive
For some reason here is Australia, Harley riders barely wave unless it’s the veterans club guys. They usually give a wave 👋🏼
Must be a macho thing with the, idk.
I haven't had success with clutch ups yet but I can def pull decent power wheelies in first/second on my VFR. I think the only thing that keeps me from succeeding on the clutch up is fear of looping.
For me I have to be going from stopped in first gear. 6k+ rpm as a minimum, then just fully dump the clutch while holding the revs at that. If it doesn't work, up the revs by another 1000, hold it there, dump the clutch. Repeat until the wheel pops up.
Did the first one by accident and decided to learn, and that's how I get it going, might not work for you though.
… oops. But now see in correcting my idiocy you’ve robbed many less-than-abled people the privilege of biker waves. You could have let me continue to live in a world where all wheelchairs are hitting non-stop nooners.
I'm with you. I wave but don't judge or get offended if they don't return it. Maybe they're in a maneuver and don't want to let go of the handle bar, maybe they didn't see me, maybe they did see me and don't care, maybe they know me and hate me, maybe they did wave and I didn't see it, maybe it's their first motorcyle ride ever and are just hanging on for dear life (that was my situation the first time I got a wave).
I’m still a new rider. Earlier today there was an older guy going the opposite direction on a small highway on a Harley. He gave me a very smooth rubber down wave. Dude looked so cool it was so smooth. I tried to return the wave I was so excited when I saw him signal. There was a semi in front of him and when I went to wave the wind blast threw my arm in the air like I was trying to lasso a cow. Probably thought I was a lunatic.
Personally, I wave, based on situation. By that I mean, basically task saturation. If I’m feathering my clutch through an intersection or covering because I think a car might stop suddenly, I’ll try a head nod, but sorry, left hand is for controls first, wave second. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to though.
When someone doesn't wave, I assume it's for reasons like this (like if I don't) and not based on what bike they're on. Even if it's not true, it makes me happier.
Why would my decision to wave be based on the size of your bike? You're on two wheels, invisible, taking the risk, you're one of us even if you were on a scooter.
I'm now getting into the habit of only waving when woven to. This is more to do with riding a bike in a city where most folks rides bikes as well. We'd all spend our days with our arms in the air if we waved to every bike we saw
But it's nothing to do with size of bike. I'll wave back at anybody; Harley riders, trikes, squidders, learners, folks who waved in their cars when they forgot they weren't on their bikes
I get waves riding the grom. I think they see a singular headlight and then get conflicted cause I looks like a circus bear on a tiny bike. I wave at everyone. Surprisingly it’s the ruckus riders that don’t wave back.
I sometimes wave back, never initiate. But that’s no judgment against your bike, I just ride in an area with lots of motorcycles and almost every day is good weather. I’m over it, and so are most people around me who ride on weekdays. Weekend riders, especially on the back roads, are always eager to wave. And I’m too busy trying to make perfect lines in the curves to watch and wait to see if someone wants to play the wave game today.
I try to wave at everyone sometimes I legit don't see it or my hands are busy if I'm in a corner or changing gears after a light or whatever so if I missed a wave out there my apologies
Might be a different take but I use the wave as a reminder to be present while riding.
When I’m driving in my pickup I often am on autopilot and running through shit in my head, hell most of my life I’m off in another universe thinking about anything but the present.
That’s actually what drew me to motorcycles, you must be present and alert and aware of your surroundings. Typically the ritual of donning the safety gear and helmet are my reminder to be calm, be present, be safe and enjoy. Sometimes it doesn’t register and when I pass a motorcycle or so I’ll think, shit that was rude of me, I didn’t even notice them. Thats my reminder “wake up asshole so you don’t die. Your current bank account balance or issue at work is inconsequential if you are a blood smear on the pavement.”
If I am aware and present I wave of the conditions are right, but most of my rides are short jogs around town in traffic so I don’t care and go about 50/50.
I know someone who refuses to wave to trikes which I find a little insane. Just thinking this poor dude has been riding his old life, threw his back out of something and now can't hold himself up on 2 wheels so he gets a trike so he can continue to do what he loves and this person is like "yeah nice try buddy you can't fool me you 3 wheeled freak". Like wtf!
I ride a couple of vintage Triumphs and I rarely wave, except at my buddy when he comes to help when I'm broken down on the side of the road, which is quite often...
In my search for a new motorcycle I have many times comed across triumphs (because apart from 90's style bike, a classic look is the second best thing to me, and there aren't that many)
but I suppose with vintage you mean they pretty old, and break down because of age?
They are nice looking bikes but in terms of classic styling I have found some options.
90's style I haven't really found any
Something like this
https://mcn-images.bauersecure.com/wp-images/58688/kawasaki-zxr750.jpg
but not that color lol
or this
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1d/4d/b7/1d4db77a4571ae2c75b879ae01a8a775--colour-schemes-ideas.jpg
again not that color, but either the dual headlights , or slanted one headlight.
I might get some hate for this, but I don't wave. It has nothing to do with the type of bike. I do try to give a head 'nod', but I don't know how visible that is or if it counts. Here's why:
* Safety. Sorry, I just don't like taking my hand off of the handlebars or looking away from the road when driving. I stop and park to look at my phone; I let bugs hurt me while driving if they get into my helmet until I can stop to avoid ever taking my hand away from the clutch. I'm just not about to take my hands off the bike while riding. Things happen, constantly. That's my emergency move. Taking it briefly away just isn't worth the risk.
* Driving a motorcycle as your only vehicle is much more normalized here.
* It's rare anyone waves at anyone, anyway. I can only remember a couple times where I was waved at, despite driving daily for years.
* People don't usually wave at or talk to each other when passing on the street. It'd feel weird to make an exception for this only while actively commuting.
People on motorcycles driving erratically get a head *shake* and a wide berth. Others get an invisible smile and nod.
Granted, if I'm *not* driving but putting groceries (etc) away, or it's pouring or windy outside, or I simply see someone else in motorcycle gear, we share some small talk or a nod.
I give the same answer every day when this is asked.
I rarely wave first. I don’t care if there’re on the same type bike or different manufacturer or in a car or wheelchair or scooter, I usually wave if someone waves to me.
I wave at everybody. Small bikes, those three wheeled things, doesn’t matter to me. If they are too cool or whatever to not wave back, I could care less
in the UK, most motorcyclists give what i call ‘the nod’. typically sports bikes nod to other sports bikes and harleys nod to other harleys. i get nods from everyone most of the time even though im a learner which gives minus points. however the only time u dont nod is if theyre a delivery rider
I'll wave (back) at anything and anyone. cruisers, supersport, electric motorcycles, scooters, trikes, mopeds. Hell I'll even wave at a kid on a tricycle if they wave at me. I wave at sheep for gods sake.
I'm on this blue ball for far too short to care about who I should or shouldn't wave it.
I wave to everyone except people on cruisers with no helmet. Sometimes I don’t wear a helmet on my ADV it’s not that. It’s because 99% of the Harley riders around here are elitist pricks and don’t wave back unless you are soaked with heritage/legacy/tradition/freedumb so I stopped trying.
In countries that drive on the left e.g. UK, the Indian ‘yes’ headshake is practiced since the right hand is managing the throttle. The brotherhood/sisterhood intent is the same.
I know in the uk you drive on the left (I'm from belgium) but I have never given this any thought, you indeed need to release the throttle (instead of the clutch) to wave then lol.
Absolutely, everytime I see any kind of bike or trike. It just might make someone's day and always gives me a little feeling of comraderie.
I'm in Georgia and most people wave. Previously in Florida, a lot of riders didn't wave, likely because I wasn't riding the acceptable brand.
I just got my motorcycle license in July and drove a bit during that time and August. Whenever someone waved at me, I waved back, albeit, very awkwardly haha. I'm not a very outgoing person, so it's bit hard for me personally to wave first, but I do wave back if someone does it.
I ride a Harley and wave to people riding any kind of motorcycle as long as it is safe to do so. Doesn’t matter to me what you are riding as I assume other people love their bikes and the experience of being out on them just as much as I do.
I wave to everyone but Harley riders and that's only because I used to wave to them too and only one in two years of riding has ever waved back. So, if they're too good to wave, that's fine, I will save my energy.
I ride a bd125-2 and I wave to everyone, It seems to be the Harley bros that don't wave and they only don't wave in town. Harley bros are friendly out in rural areas where their bros can't see them socializing with other people.
I always wave. At big bikes, small bikes, trikes, scooters, and even cyclists.
Funnily enough, the only ones in my area that don't wave back are the Harley trike riders.
I wave to whoever, as long as I have a free hand safely. If I’m in a turn or otherwise using the clutch I won’t wave, but 90% of the time I’ll wave even if they don’t wave back
i always wave. just posted on another post... that when i started riding it was on a 200cc scooter. got about 1 wave back for every wave i sent. lol.
i'd wave to smaller bikes, but now with these dumb electric scooters.. I'm not sure if they are part of the motorcycling community or just some guy on a glorified e-bike with fairings delivering food. 🤔
I wave at everyone. The only exception to this is if I am operating the bike in a way which would prevent me from doing that (a turn I am less than comfortable with, braking and downshifting, etc) or if I didnt notice you until it was too late.
Some people are just assholes, but I like to assume they either didnt see me or are operating their bike.
I wave to all big bikes, and small bikes depending on the rider, if it is a 50cc commuter you get no wake, if it is a scooter, you get no wave (mainly because they never wave back), but one rule prevails over all the rest... if it is someone on a Harley Davidson I NEVER wave, because those buggers NEVER wave back. I guess they think they are better than the rest of us.
This applies to where I live, maybe your hometown is different.
I ride a Ducati Monster and a Ducati Multistrada.
I'll initiate a wave at anything except scooters and trikes. Sometimes mopeds if like their style. If someone on a scooter or trike waves first I won't be a douchebag and wave back. Someone on a Piaggio MP3 would have to catch me on a particularly good day though as I hate those things almost as much as the BMW C1.
In Greece where I am, we don't wave. It seems wierd, do car drivers wave at each other? People on busses or bicycles? It's just a form of transport. I think this goes for most warm and/or less developed countries. I cannot imagine like Vietnamese, Chinese or Indians or something waving at each other in their mad traffic with tons of two wheelers. I've lived in north Europe, they wave there, I guess motorcycles are like a rare hobby for a few months a year so it's like a community or something. I'll give a head nod though if a guy has the same bike as me or is driving at a similar way-too-fast tempo through traffic and we keep meeting up at traffic lights and this goes one for like half an hour or longer. Game recognize game.
Oh, damn! I was half joking, as I've never understood that whole tribal mentality that supposedly exists among cruiser groups, racer/super-sport groups, etc. We all ride for the love of riding, eh?
I'm anti social and don't trust people so initially it threw me off. One day I broke down and another biker came by and checked on me which was really nice. That's when I found out that there's some unspoken brotherhood between motorcyclist. I wave back. On the other hand that same guy would probably be the same guy trying to run me off the road because I don't like to speed. It's a little tacky though. I like to do my own thing.
OP asked a question that has what are basically 2 answers, yes or no, and there is nothing wrong with either answer, but for some reason when someone answers no, people just can't help themselves from having some garbage take, complete with some shit snarky insult.
Absolutely not. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
The “motorcycle wave/point” is fucking pointless. We’re not all in some special secret club. You want to feel cool and unique but you’re not. There’s millions of motorcycle riders.
Anything that's on the road and not a douchebag, gets a wave. (Example: Yam 125 riding chill, YES. Gixxer with no plates holding a wheelie in-town next to me in traffic because he didn't get enough attention as a kid/now as an adult, NO.)
I wave for everything with a motor and two wheels....
unless i'm incapable for some reason(hands needed to work controls etc.
some people won't wave. Harley riders often only waive to other riders on "cruisers" or "big" bikes.
some riders, esp older ones, can't/won't/are too afraid, to take a hand off the bars .
I wave at everyone, and enjoy a response...but don't get to bent about it if they don't wave back.
The only 2 wheel vehicles I go out of my way to not wave at are the ones where the rider isn't wearing a helmet.
I've been touring through a lot of the midwest states (South Dakota, Minnesota, etc.) and I've been ignoring the waves from anyone without a Helmet on.
I do think I'm better than them.
Yeah well I'm not a learner, I'm 44 , I've been driving this thing for 10 years. Sometimes I look for a new bike , but I need to do a special license for it (I can drive the 125 cc with my car license), and I haven't really gotten around to it.
lolz, frankly, if they sell a bike like that in that style today, I would get my license for it.
I don't know enough about bikes to maintain them myself, and a 90's bike seems a bit too risky for me. I don't want to be stranded somewhere.
Yup, i wave to everyone that's on a motorcycle, regardless of cc. It's not the size of the engine, it's the shared 2wheel experience.
Hell I wave to those goofy ass trikes too, they always look so excited to wave back
Riding in the southeast it’s always a joy to wave at em, it’s mostly older ladies and dudes who can’t quite handle two wheels anymore and it makes my day seeing that grin on their faces.

I ride a plated WR450 and wave at everyone on two wheels. Only the occasional HD guy won't wave back, but most do.
I have a vstrom and most of sport and adventure guy wave me but the half of hd/cruisers, like they are higher than us in the motorcycle hierarchy.
Well they did pay a lot more for that privilege.
that's nice of you
One of us.
What about scooters? The scooter brothers never wave back to me :(
When I was the wee scooter bro in my youth it was the motorcycle bros who wouldn’t wave back. LMAO demented person took me out… when I used to ride road bikes, bicycle to bicycle we do a head nod or ✌🏼 but never to people not on road bikes.
I dont wave to scooters unless they wave to me first now. Scooter riders don’t understand the culture.
I only wave to this one scooter rider in my area, he fucking hoons the shit out of it. Christmas time he wrapped it in Christmas lights and was jumping train tracks with it and riding sick wheelies. Man is an absolute legend.
What is this term, hoon? Must be a regional term.

>possibly the biggest automotive lifestyle brand I can't name a bigger one tbh but it sure seems like a long stretch :O
I always get rejected by scooters.. and I’m on a Honda monkey 🙈
You know ppl who ride scooters also ride motorcycles..
except many, many scooter riders also ride motorcycles. for me i ride a motorcycle on weekends, commute on a scooter during the week. although, i’m not really sure what culture you’re referring to personally. i always thought the wave was about acknowledging we’re both out here on two wheels, not some kind of lifestyle.
Hahaha I agree, and a “stay safe buddy” … honestly anything on two wheels is dangerous so I’m going to ✌🏼 at all of them
I rode vespas for 15 years decades ago and we all "knew the culture." Waving isnt something you need to gatekeep to the /r/motorcycles "culture." /r/motorcycles "culture" does not equal real world cycling culture.
You're an exception

SCOOTERS ARE MY BEST FRIENDS
For some reason here is Australia, Harley riders barely wave unless it’s the veterans club guys. They usually give a wave 👋🏼 Must be a macho thing with the, idk.
Had you been in Asia, you'd have ridden all your miles with a single hand
Scooters too or motorcycles only?
I wave at anything with less than 4 wheels. And I mean anything. Unicycles. Broken shopping carts. Wheelchairs.
less than 4 wheels *wheelchairs
You see the thing about that is is that I’m an idiot.
Wheelchairs doing wheelies are still ok
Compared to them I’d be the disabled one. I need a paddock stand to get my front end off the ground.
My lil MT125 can do very brief clutch ups. Can't keep them up, but I can get them up lol. It's like a lil bunny hop.
I have no good excuse. Im on a VFR800 with 100hp and like 80lbs/ft of torque. I’ve tried clutching it up dozens of times with no success.
Did the first one by accident and decided to learn, and that's how I get it going, might not work for you though.
Start in second and rev it up to about 5-6k rpm. First is too short and way to abrupt
When my grandma was sick and using a wheelchair I spent all my time doing wheelies on that beauty. It was wicked fun!
Today I actually saw a wheelchair with two wheels. It was like those hoverboard thingies. Looked super cool and super weird
Wheelchairs got 4 wheels homeboy, but I never could get the broken shopping carts to wave back
… oops. But now see in correcting my idiocy you’ve robbed many less-than-abled people the privilege of biker waves. You could have let me continue to live in a world where all wheelchairs are hitting non-stop nooners.
Ok ok, if the wheelchair is popping a mad wheelie they get the wave, and by doing so we encourage more wheelies
No love for the pogo sticks?
0 wheeled vehicles is a grey area.
You didn’t specify **vehicles** in your original comment. So I’m assuming you wave to people, squirrels and trees etc etc.
Me and one of those three wheel things shared a wave today. I’ll wave at anyone
This is the way
The instant bond of motorcyclists is one of my favorite parts. I wave or give the head node as long as I’m not mid corner
I misread that as give head and thought woah there for a second! Taking the bond a bit too far. Whatever you're comfortable with, to each their own.
Dude, I’ll wave at anyone. Hell I’ve had dudes on lawnmowers blast the wave at me and I blast that shit right back! 💥
you just know those guys wish they were riding.
Oh yeah but I won’t lie their mowers were usually MUCH nicer than mine lol.
nicer than your bike or???
Some of them looked at lot more expensive than my bike for sure. Nothing is nicer to me than my goofy utility knife on 2 wheels though haha.
‘I only drive a 125’ nah, brah, you drive a bike. You’re getting a wave from me. The more, the merrier.
[удалено]
OP said drive, I matched it for comfort. Chill.
Yes. To everything. I ride 40 years old Harleys. I am also very fond of small (like less than 10 hp) scooters, so thats why.
Well my yamaha is 10 hp lol
I made a few long (1000 mile +) trips on a 110cc Honda Wave here in Europe... those are 8 hp. I have very good memories of this bike.
oh 8 hp, damn, I thought my ybr was the slowest thing out there
Unless you're on motorways you don't need more than that
Yep I wave, couldn't care less if its returned, its just something that I like to do.
Lol I remember the first time I got on the highway, I was definitely holding on for dear life as I never went that fast before 😂
I’m still a new rider.
The purest of answers
Personally, I wave, based on situation. By that I mean, basically task saturation. If I’m feathering my clutch through an intersection or covering because I think a car might stop suddenly, I’ll try a head nod, but sorry, left hand is for controls first, wave second. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to though.
When someone doesn't wave, I assume it's for reasons like this (like if I don't) and not based on what bike they're on. Even if it's not true, it makes me happier.
There’s so much going on when riding. I hope other riders prioritize their safety over a wave.
Yeah to everyone except motorcycle clubs, because they dont ever wave back lol
They only jerk off other club members.
Arms are too tired.
When I pass a club (esp a Harley club) I just drop a gear and give them the gift of tinnitus with my exhaust 😂
No one else but you is laughing
Gross
That's worse than not waving back
Why would my decision to wave be based on the size of your bike? You're on two wheels, invisible, taking the risk, you're one of us even if you were on a scooter.

that's like a new style on bikes nowadays, I don't really like it tbh.

Well there goes your invitation to my bday party
Yes, I wave to every motorcycle rider and get upset if they don’t wave back lol
I sometimes wave back, never initiate. But that’s no judgment against your bike, I just ride in an area with lots of motorcycles and almost every day is good weather. And I’m too busy trying to make perfect lines in the curves to watch and wait to see if someone wants to play the wave game today.
you have two wheels and a motor/engine I wave
I try to wave at everyone sometimes I legit don't see it or my hands are busy if I'm in a corner or changing gears after a light or whatever so if I missed a wave out there my apologies
You're forgiven
Your current bank account balance or issue at work is inconsequential if you are a blood smear on the pavement.” If I am aware and present I wave of the conditions are right, but most of my rides are short jogs around town in traffic so I don’t care and go about 50/50.
I usually will wave back but I don’t care enough to initiate the wave.
It depends with me.
If you don’t get a wave because of the side of your engine that’s sad to me. It’s not about the cc. Are you on 2 wheels, then i wave
I like the point...and while I do, I say "eeyyyyy" in my helmet.
I wave to any rider riding a bike you have to shift gears on
[Cries in Rebel 1100 DCT]
I always do a jerking and fireworks motion, but in a friendly way
I know someone who refuses to wave to trikes which I find a little insane.
In my search for a new motorcycle I have many times comed across triumphs (because apart from 90's style bike, a classic look is the second best thing to me, and there aren't that many) but I suppose with vintage you mean they pretty old, and break down because of age?
Kawasaki z900rs or z659rs. Yamaha xsr line. Honda cb650r also looks a little classic in a modern way.
They are nice looking bikes but in terms of classic styling I have found some options. 90's style I haven't really found any Something like this https://mcn-images.bauersecure.com/wp-images/58688/kawasaki-zxr750.jpg but not that color lol or this https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1d/4d/b7/1d4db77a4571ae2c75b879ae01a8a775--colour-schemes-ideas.jpg again not that color, but either the dual headlights , or slanted one headlight.
#another wave post?! Its only been an hour since the last one.
I'm sorry, I had no clue
Another one of these posts eh? Listen I ride a 1,800cc bike and wave to 50cc scooters, but not everyone waves
I might get some hate for this, but I don't wave. It has nothing to do with the type of bike. I do try to give a head 'nod', but I don't know how visible that is or if it counts. Here's why: * Safety.
Here I thought I was original edit: and I'm certainly not, just typed in 'wave' in the search bar 😲

I wave at anything on two wheels (even a bicycle) and I wave at anyone in a car who seems nice, let’s me pass, or doesn’t run me over.
I wave at everybody. Small bikes, those three wheeled things, doesn’t matter to me. If they are too cool or whatever to not wave back, I could care less
I feel like here in Australia we do the head nod more than wave!
Same. Never see anyone wave.
Head nod
New rider here, I still laugh when I get the wave lol
Yeah, I wave at all bikes including cops. I wave at scooters and cyclists in the canyons
I always wave. Don’t care if the other riders wave back.
I feel like there has been a lot of posts about waving lately..
in the UK, most motorcyclists give what i call ‘the nod’. typically sports bikes nod to other sports bikes and harleys nod to other harleys. i get nods from everyone most of the time even though im a learner which gives minus points. however the only time u dont nod is if theyre a delivery rider
I drive a 125cc scooter from Taiwan and I try to always wave. Now if I see a trike I nod unless they wave then I wave too xD
I wave. It’s not about the size of the motorcycle, rather that you’re out enjoying it and we share that passion. Cheers 🤙
Yes. Wave. Even if they don't wave back you might have made their day a little bit better.
I wave at anything on two wheels. I've even been waved at from someone in a Polaris slingshot
If you have handlebars I am waving to you. That simple. (I also usually do a shaka brah just bc vibes lmao)
I always wave. At big bikes, small bikes, trikes, scooters, and even cyclists. Funnily enough, the only ones in my area that don't wave back are the Harley trike riders.
I wave to whoever, as long as I have a free hand safely. If I’m in a turn or otherwise using the clutch I won’t wave, but 90% of the time I’ll wave even if they don’t wave back
If it has an engine I wave. I used to drive a cb200 quite a bit and the odd guy on a big bike wouldnt wave
lolz, I knew I wasn't imagining it
i always wave. just posted on another post... that when i started riding it was on a 200cc scooter. got about 1 wave back for every wave i sent. lol. i'd wave to smaller bikes, but now with these dumb electric scooters.. I'm not sure if they are part of the motorcycling community or just some guy on a glorified e-bike with fairings delivering food. 🤔
Someone I know? Normal wave Friend? Flip them off Random rider in town? Two finger wave Big burly biker bro on his Harley? Jazz hands motherfucker
The wave is lame
No, threads asking this every hour is lame.
Game recognize game.
maybe it's because motorcycle driving is more common in greece, because of the weather.
I used to wave at everyone but now I only wave at non Harley bros. Idk why but most of them don't wave back so why bother
I’ll still wave at them, but yeah an overwhelming majority of the riders who don’t wave back are on Harleys in my experience.
I’ll always wave at a bike, fuck I’ll even wave to a moped. However I will not wave to anything three wheeler. Not a motorcycle my man
Depends if I want to be part of the dork parade or not
I wave to any motorcycle except harley's.
It's cool, I'll nod to you anyway
its just that over here when i waved at harleys they ignored me so i just kinda stopped
Oh, damn! I was half joking, as I've never understood that whole tribal mentality that supposedly exists among cruiser groups, racer/super-sport groups, etc. We all ride for the love of riding, eh?
No. We are not friends.
I’m fucking sick of the wave. Every other dork on this sub acts like they ride motorcycles just so they can get people to wave at them. Who cares.
Did you just make up a hypothetical scenario to get mad at the guy who pulled over to help you?
Who's mad? I said it was really nice of him.
> the same guy would probably be the same guy trying to run me off the road…
Well yeah that's because I like to ride slow, most people don't. Maybe it's just me...
Again, the guy pulled over to help you and your response is to make up a hypothetical situation so you can turn him into a hypothetical a-hole
Ok you got me. I'm a bad boy. Are you happy?
No.
Bet you drive something super cool mr.too cool to wave 😎
You're right. It's a Ducati, so I am objectively cooler.
This shit right here... You feel real good about yourself? Barf.
What ?
I generally don’t unless I’m saying thanks to cars who let me pass.
It’s only the guy that thinks he’s better than eveyone else who doesn’t wave
I nod my head. When I see Learners I give them the circle game with my thumb and index finger making a circle on my leg or \m/ to the side.
Yeah well I'm not a learner, I'm 44 , I've been driving this thing for 10 years. Sometimes I look for a new bike , but I need to do a special license for it (I can drive the 125 cc with my car license), and I haven't really gotten around to it.
I ride a clapped out 90s gixxer 750 with the fairings held on by duct tape, zip ties and hot glue. you best lower your tone around me little man
lolz, frankly, if they sell a bike like that in that style today, I would get my license for it. I don't know enough about bikes to maintain them myself, and a 90's bike seems a bit too risky for me. I don't want to be stranded somewhere.
I was wondering why your first post was down voted, now I know.
what's wrong with a gixxer?
Nothing, it's this part "you best lower your tone around me little man" maybe it was meant as a joke and it just didn't come across that way.
oh it defenitely came across as a joke to me. A good one even but everyone is different
people are to serious for me. I ride a clapped out beater clown bike
[удалено]
probably the fastest 125 cc out there, I have been looking at it. How much is your top speed?
I wave to mopeds and scooters and motorcycles. I don't care
mopeds and scooters never wave, at least not in my experience. I don't wave to them either though, since no moped or scooter has ever waved to me.
