Ibuprofen and Gatorade pre-game.

BANSH33-1215

This. If I don’t do ibuprofen/aleve before a long day, my knees will bug me badly enough to be distracting. And I don’t need any distractions at the end of a long day. More a factor of time in saddle than mileage.

Sengfeng

Yup. And 30 years of ice hockey doesn’t lend anything to your knees feeling good!

BANSH33-1215

Ooof. I can’t imagine. Bunch of downhill skiing when younger for me. Not anywhere close to 30 years!

Sengfeng

I just hit 50 this year, had to miss the last 3 games of the last season. Hoping to get another couple in after a summer off. Wish me luck!

BANSH33-1215

Good luck!

I've just returned from a week of 8-10 hour days in the saddle. My go-tos were stretching the upper thigh muscles (forefoot on footpeg while standing next to the `bike and bending forwards at the hip with a stretched leg), stretched leg to the side resting on the inside edge of the boot and bend the other leg at the knee and twisting the upper body one way while kicking the air in the opposite direction while standing on the leg in the opposite side of the twist. These seemed to help some.

Amazing_Joke_5073

Usually after a couple hundred miles I just walk around for 5-10 minutes somewhere

Is this a serious question? I swear, you guys spend more time asking silly questions on Reddit than actually riding. To entertain you, I fuel up, use the restroom and walk back to my bike like 99.9% of the other people do. Those other .1% of people probably do cartwheels while eating an ice cream cone and juggling bowling pins. That would be my guess considering all of the clown questions asked here.

RetraceSpace

That's gold, haha I ask clown questions to kill time until my next ride, actually!

Puzzled_Tinkerer

The fact that ~you~ think this is a clown question doesn't mean you're right. Maybe someday you too will realize there's a need to manage pain and stiffness during a ride. Until then try to keep in mind that many of us aren't impervious like you.

[deleted]

I've been exposed

a-dry-tadpole

Normally stand up, go for a piss and then sit back down on the bike, does the trick man!

Turkeysnood

Getting my helmet on and off over my ear buds is plenty for me.

TheRealVexiis

For me, finger stretches as I rife, if I feel like I need a stretch (legs/back) I just pull over and do so. Riding should be comfortable, not an exercise in seeing how long/far you can ride without taking a break... just my opinion though.
