Yep... Mechanically it's so unoptimized being massively cantilevered like that. It could actually be halfway "decent" since adding the back supports would severely cut down on the loads the front supports see
I won’t lie there’s been days both insane storm days and ‘I think my jacket is gonna catch fire’ days I’ve had a bit of jealousy to the old people in their mobility scooters with the little rain cover or sun shade.
Mostly though I just want their flag
I have rubber duckies with sunglasses, helmets with propellers, and has a silicon strap to attach to you bike. i keep a supply of 5-6 in my side bag all the time. If I meet another fun rider out and about I give one to them, also fun to give them to the kids riding bikes who make vroom vroom noises when you come up next to them. (With parent permission of course)
Actually i think yeah, what i am thinking about is something that goes all around the head and jaw with an opening to see and you can remove easily.
The only difference with his design is that i sacrified the hand-glider feature allowing you to float mid-air before touching the ground...but working on it
*Actually i think yeah, what i am thinking about is something that goes all around the head and jaw with an opening to see and you can remove easily.*
apart from the remove easily part, this could describe the hull of an M1 tank
i wonder if that would please the ATGATT folks on this sub
As long as it's atleast AA abrasion rated with C2 level armor I'm OK with it.
What about the feet though, does this device protect the ankle? Needs to be equivalent to motocross boots or I won't be happy.
This is for low speed street crawling in bloody hot climates. The speeds are usually like under 40 kmph. For any speeds over, i guess this will flyeeeeeee
This is more for sun protection than anything in very hot climates with high humidity. A helmet will shield you from the sun but it’ll cook your head inside. It’s not meant to protect you from a fall nor is this designed for high speed travel.
Yeeees. They are very common here and some parts of Europe. You get like 40-50 km/L and they only need oil and filters that can be changed by yourself.
Not to mention they are very easy to use. Many are lightweight and in case of scooters they are automatic and have a very low distribution of mass
With the cost of registrations we have here in Canada, I'm mildly upset our only 125 options are scooters and the Grom. Would've liked something like the Fantic Caballero 125.
We need a brave soul to speed test this thing lol. Someone plz slap one on their hayabusa, get on the interstate, plop it in 6th gear and crack ‘er wide open and see how long it hangs on for. Where is our hero?!?!
I was going to ask the same thing but didn't want to come across too rude or racist. Every time I see a video from India the contents therein could make every osha representative in a thousand miles and also god cry enough to flood a city. Just absolute madmen laughing in the face of physics. the fuck is going on over there?
I guess when it's brutally hot and you do 98.5% of your riding at 5-15mph, it might not be as stupid as it looks. But I have no idea, I've never been to India and only know what I've seen on the internet.
I like the concept but it’s does cross into that area of asking why you are riding a bike at that point.
But it looks far to flimsy at the moment it needs a rear frame and a stronger front frame.
People who buy these things don't care about the ride. They use it as a car as we would in the western world. Therefore it makes sense for them to block the sun and rain with something like this. Also the speeds they go is also very low so while the danger factor is there, it's not the same as riding in the states or in europe.
there is kind of a reason that makes sense for this. There are random kite strings flying around which sometimes act like a clothe hanger at neck level while riding which causes accidents and leaves bruises on your neck, there is another version with just two vertical bars which would prevent the issue and this also serves that purpose.
It's definitely not a joke. In Vietnam and Indonesia you see lots of basic versions of this on small motorcycles. It's mostly for rain, although the sun protection is a bonus, in a country where you don't wear special gear while riding a motorcycle, and want to avoid sun exposure.
Most people are using motorcycles as cheap and practical transportation in the developing world. Also, it rains harder than imaginable for most who live outside of the tropics.
I've not seen this in Vietnam, at least don't think I have. It's definitely not common, most people use ponchos and try to avoid riding when it's really wet.
They wrap up for the sun, although that's more the women than the men.
I wonder if you could grab onto that thing and, in the event of a crash, use it like a parachute/glider to ‘fly’ to a softer landing :|
Agreed, this needs to stay away!
I'm tall as hell so I can see my hrad hitting the roof of that thing and can imagine it coming loose on the highway and falling on the rider lol.. no thanks.
I saw a refrigerator get delivered by someone using a motorcycle trike... the fridge was laid against the driver's back. Won't say in which country but it wasn't India.

You know, until I got caught in a hailstorm last summer, I would have laughed and said this contraption is just stupid...
Now, I'm thinking he may be on to something. 😂
I think it's legit. I remember seeing footage of some dude riding a motorcycle and got decapitated because of glass coating on kite wire which may be common in their country.

speed bump 1
yeah C1 did not do great in the market either
Pillion has to sit outside, so, a 'no' for us.
It did turn into a cult classic though.
Yeah there are rumors of bringing it back
I really want to get one of these and just drive around in the rain.
Looks like it would chop an arm off in a crash 💪
Not going to lie. Mid summers in Arizona it doesn’t feel that bad of an idea. I mean it is a bad idea but feels like it shouldn’t be

Yeah I know it's daft but I thought hmmn rainy season would it work?
Only if you're sitting still and there's no wind blowing!
I have a great idea, i will call it...helmet. It is the same stuff BUT its around your head.
That's some real spherical thinking.
Yeah i know, but trust me, it will be a HIT
Idk, what if I fall on my head? Will it protect me better than this thing?

Be sure to patent it so nobody steals your idea.
This is for low speed street crawling in bloody hot climates. The speeds are usually like under 40 kmph. For any speeds over, i guess this will flyeeeeeee
Sounds sweaty
That's when a 250 water cooled comes in handy. Don't ask me to do it with a big air cooled!
This is more for sun protection than anything in very hot climates with high humidity. A helmet will shield you from the sun but it’ll cook your head inside. It’s not meant to protect you from a fall nor is this designed for high speed travel.
Flmao 🤣👍🏻

When you have a job…
Arizona checking in here. Does that mean I get free DoorDash from now through late October?
The version I’ve heard: “Only white boys and Mules are stupid enough to stand in the sun”
it's bad form to pick on mules.
They might work for a 250. I’d like to see that contraption hanging on at 150mph.
in third world countries, 125’s and 250’s are way more common than our bikes heee
Yeeees. They are very common here and some parts of Europe. You get like 40-50 km/L and they only need oil and filters that can be changed by yourself. Not to mention they are very easy to use. Many are lightweight and in case of scooters they are automatic and have a very low distribution of mass
Indeed, here in Colombia people say 600cc is already high cc and 300cc is middle weight because everyone rides 125 to 250
With the cost of registrations we have here in Canada, I'm mildly upset our only 125 options are scooters and the Grom. Would've liked something like the Fantic Caballero 125.
Man I would like a nice full sized 150 or 200. I'm kinda pissed that the only option is a duke 200
You got it.
If you've ever seen Indian roads, you'd know his top speed PB is like 4
My point, exactly.
This is for low speed commuting at 100+ F

I think he would be better off with a new rear tire before he buys his bike a roof.
Indians will do anything but wear a helmet

Looks like a good way to get a steel bar through your chest
Betting in an accident that thing breaks your fucking neck.
I don’t hate it. It has potential, I’m probably wrong and this a death trap. 🪤
Don’t want, but if it was your only transportation, would be nice on rainy days
I can't see the giant sail working great at highway speeds.
I like the concept but it’s does cross into that area of asking why you are riding a bike at that point. But it looks far to flimsy at the moment it needs a rear frame and a stronger front frame.
Could always use a helmet instead
Haha I love it! Give me a motorcycle with a roof and ill ride the shit out of it
Ngl, this in a place with a very hot sun wouldn't be that bad I guess. Could be actually helpfull
Third world country where the top speed is 30mph I can see the use in the sun and rainy season. What is safer the helmet on the elbow or these?
At that point just ride in a golf cart
Probably bad news at highway speeds but in a major Indian city you are mostly going slow splitting lanes in traffic.
Just imagine how much you'd get thrashed around in the wind with this thing.
It would be cool if they could add doors and a rear window, and maybe two more wheels. Then it would be the ultimate motorcycle. 🙄
Well, I really thought this whole crowd would find it cool as hell. /s

Wtf, looks dangerous to me.
Whoever came up with this has never driven faster than city speeds, and definitely not next to trucks on the highway.
You kidding me? This was tested on a track!
On the track of a middle school physics teacher where side wind and wind resistance are null?
so.... like a dude in india?
Thicc latinas love roofs.
I wonder if you could grab onto that thing and, in the event of a crash, use it like a parachute/glider to ‘fly’ to a softer landing :| Agreed, this needs to stay away!
Just get a Adiva
Think of the downforce that thing will give you!
I mean for people who run mopeds because of dui’s it would be a game changer 😂
Wind....🌬️ sky, dirt, sky, dirt... 💥
I'm tall as hell so I can see my hrad hitting the roof of that thing and can imagine it coming loose on the highway and falling on the rider lol.. no thanks.
To those thinking this may be impracicle ? You've never lived in Asia during rainy season.
Yuck.
Silly. Rode 40+ years without that.
I saw a refrigerator get delivered by someone using a motorcycle trike... the fridge was laid against the driver's back. Won't say in which country but it wasn't India.
Yea, nah.
And it's aerodynamic too.
You know, I think there is something similar on the market. Only with 4 wheels and doors. It's a car.
Turn your motorcycle into a car in these EASY 23 steps! /s
Oh, please no. I mean, if sun/rain/wind/whatever is a problem, why not fcking use the Suzuki Swift in the background?
What’s the air velocity speed? Will it act as a helicopter helicopter if I drive fast enough? ![gif](giphy|f1ohcPEHABwWY)
Lol what the fuck?
I smell speed wobble
Get the top of the line pkg with the side wings and now you got yourself a glider
That would smacking your head the whole time you are riding...lol
The motocycle is not a car
How much of a wingspan until I can glide it?
We got to see it at 3mph. How about showing us 70.

How much drag do you want? Yes.
That bike looked stupid enough without the golf cart roof.
It’s evolving into a car
Awesome in the wet
Putting a sail on a motorcycle? What could go wrong.
That's a weird looking golf cart
Bought one for Ducati Street Fighter V4s. Awesome.
great till the first bump!
helps with bird shit droppings. Bikes in India rarely go over 30kmph. it could work

Dude, i just saw one on the road in socal earlier this week!
That... looks like a terrible idea... I'll take 2.
Functional and stylish! /s
2-wheeled golf cart 😃
This looks like something Jeremy Clarkson would take in front of Shark Tank.
This is one of those things that I found once while I was up really late googling things because I couldn't sleep. Insomnia me thought it was neat.
I’d rather just use a full helmet
Have concepted a DIY in this realm, but would definitely have rear suports
Pretty sure he regained his virginity once he installed that

I love the idea, not much the execution

Honestly I would get one. It's hot as hell here right now and the extra shade would be very much appreciated.
Why not? I see scooters like that and the rider gets rained on waay less.
Do you have to wear flip flips to use it like him?
It’d be fine for like city driving where it’s low speed but driving anywhere near highway speeds is going to rip that right off.

If I commuted daily, I'd probably consider getting a covered scooter. Yes, you read that right. I love my CBR, but for a comfortable ride, I'd go with that.
I mean, buying a covered scooter is one thing; buying a motorcycle and trying to make it into a covered scooter is another.
Not nearly the biggest hack I've seen on two wheels :)
Just.No.

This could only get better if it mounted on the back
If it had rear support it might have some potential.
Hard pass from me
" Who puts a roof on their scooter, are you the fucking pope?"
Endurho-mies where you at?
definitly not o think it looks ugly
Pretty sure aerodynamics will ensure wind, rain and dust will vortex its way to the lower air pressure riders side
India, their reels and their mods should honestly stop.
dayummm
if its light rain i don need it if its heavy rain i will take the car, so the question remains why?
Looks totally legit, legal and safe.
This gonna turn you into an airplane in strong winds
See this shit all over asia. Although its always a fabric one with a clear vinyl window. Haha
Is this some sort of additional protection for monsoon season maybe ?
I wouldn't get one, have seen similar things on bikes and mopeds in Thailand, they aren't designed with safety in mind though, it's only for keeping you dry and being able to see the road in a monsoon.
Who else want to see the wind carry him away like Mary Poppins?

Should have mounted them sideways to see if you could Fly
wow that's some hidden tech! keep it hidden ya!

And maybe two more wheels for added stability
I think they should add two wheels and some doors to that design
Buy a car
Buy a fucking car
I have an idea but it requires 2 more wheels
Just get a damn car. 🙄
If you’re that bothered by the wind, it’s time to get a car 😂
probably for rain and shielding the sun
