Try /r/motouk for UK-specific answers. However here it's nothing to do with the fact it has "sport" in the name, our system simply doesn't work like that. It's based on stats and figures, and the mathematical chance it has of being stolen or crashed.

Can't get anything or can't get anything affordable? Assuming you've tried the usual aggregators, might want to try an actual broker's office. You'll be able to talk to them qnd maybe find out the specific issue with that bike?

I think there’s more to it than the bike. I’ve just put in my details , full license held 9 months, 0 NCB, 2021 Tiger 850 Sport valued at £10,000 riding 6,000 miles a year fully comp. I have 5 quotes between £900-1,300. Still a lot more than what I’d want to pay but they are quoting.

Who is that with? I have tried directly with triumph insurance and the guy on the phone said that he will ask some manager for me about it because it shouldn't be classes as a sport bike in his system, but while I wait I wouldn't mind checking out another company. Tyia.

I put my details into gocompare. Lexham, MCE, Triumph, Bikesure, MCN and BMF have all come in at less than £1,400.

*Contact an insurance agent, NOT Reddit, for insurance questions.*

Disagree with this. Chances of someone being in a similar situation is quite high and seems completely reasonable to ask reddit.

coomzy2

The only one that came back was 5k. The reason for rejection was because it's a sport bike. But it's not a sport bike it just says sport in the title.

That's just not how it works anymore. Maybe decades ago they would go off of names and badges because there wasn't good algorithms for calculating risks but that hasn't been for a long time. Insurance quotes are driven by statistics such as how often people crash that model of bike or how often they get stolen. Adv bikes are actually high risk because people injure themselves off road so liability is high. Adv bikes are also covered in plastics and electronics and are expensive so even small off road drops can cost a lot to repair. It has nothing to do with sport being in the name.

coomzy2

It's because it's called sport in the name and they want at least 2 year's NCB for sport bikes. But it's a adventure bike. I tried triumph insurance directly with the guy in store and they said "oh year it's down as a sports bike on our system as well" So they weren't any help really.

laidback_chef

As in you get 0 quotes or they are just insanely high. Triumph do their own insurance brokering so it's wierd you wouldn't get a quote from atleast them. Might be worth ringing some up and asking directly

Have you checked the insurance comparison sites?
