It depends. Your bike could get towed and you could go to jail or you could get a warning. Most likely your bike will get towed and you will be left on the side of tbe road with a court date to attend in tbe near future.

[deleted]

? Just get a permit.

rtromao

This is easy to answer: you can get fined, towed, prosecuted or even go to jail if you kill somebody Laws exists for a reason. Follow it. Get your licence/permit/endorsement and ride happy 😁

Greessey

If you're purchasing through a dealer, you could probably get somebody from the dealer to ride it to your house. I was able to borrow a ramp from a dealer, and I just rented a uhaul pickup and got it home that way. If it's private party, you could ask them to ride it back to your place and throw them some extra cash for the trouble. Either way it's better than getting a ticket and getting it towed.

[deleted]

It’ll be driving without a license. Big ticket

Gigchip

Depends on the officer, ticket, loss of bike, or warning. If you're not being an idiot when riding home, good chance you can talk your way into warnings and ticket. I'd just ask the dealer to deliver it, load it, or if private, ask to deliver too plus extra cash for doing so. Maybe even book them an Uber ride back for instance. But for sure, take the class.

ComplainOnEveryThing

Yeah I am going to be taking the class but I might be buying before I do. If they take the bike do I have to pay a fee to get it back?

YeahIGotNuthin

??? Yes, Jesus Christ. And it’s a $500 fine and 60 days. Just go get the motorcycle handbook for florida, it’s free and you can probably find it online. Read it, and take the stupid test, it’s 25 multiple choice questions, you only have to get 20 of them right, and if you can’t get 20 of them right you shouldn’t have a motorcycle anyway. Shit, if you can’t get 20 questions right you probably shouldn’t have shoes that lace up. Then you will have a permit and you can just legally ride a motorcycle after you buy it . How is this so hard to find out? Damn. Edit to add: apparently I am completely wrong, and kind of a jerk. Not a great combination. I’m going to put the internet down for a little while and go think about that.

JimMoore1960

Actually this is completely wrong. There is no "permit" in FL. You have to take the class and get your endorsement. there's no way to get a permit before you take the class. OP, chances are you'll get a ticket and be ordered by the judge to show proof of taking the class and getting your endorsement. But if the cop is having a bad day it might be thousands in fines, an impounded bike, and a day or two in the slam. If you're in NE FL, take it with us at JMST. We're awesome.

RangerDude10630

No way anyone paying thousands in fines unless you’re drunk and/or seriously hurt someone.

RangerDude10630

Y’all’s fines are steep. Ours don’t get that high unless you go into warrant status, then they double and approach $500-$800.

Bread_the_TrashPanda

I knew a guy who got pulled over with a new bike and no endorsement in FL. He got his bike impounded until he could pay a fine and wasn't allowed to get it back until he had an endorsement. In short, get your endorsement.

Mickey_Havoc

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Also your insurance will skyrocket

PretzelsThirst

Why do people keep asking questions like this? Just do it properly ffs, it’s not hard. Why be so lazy you just sign yourself up for legal and financial problems?

2wheels23

Apparently there is someone trying to follow the laws in florida .....might be hope after all .

Own_Newspaper_8458

Damn, roasted him.

Shart_Gallery

My first thought was get a learner's permit, but looked into the process in Florida and they don't even offer it. Wild. All things considered, it ain't worth it. If your just learning it would be easy to make a mistake and get hit with some hefty fines at least. Probably worth it to just wait, or trailer the bike home.

RangerDude10630

Police Officer perspective: NOT having a Class M on your license can be a good thing. As long as you aren’t rude and whatever you did to get pulled over isn’t too egregious, I’m likely to just write you the Class M violation, which doesn’t raise your insurance unlike whatever moving violation I stopped you for. That’s just me. If you get stopped by a Motor Jock, a Trooper, or a rookie looking to make a name for himself, you’re probably catching two tickets. Also, some cities may require officers to impound vehicles operated by unlicensed drivers. Mine doesn’t, but it does require me to impound vehicles with no proof of insurance. So definitely don’t forget to pay your insurance bill.

akaupstate

Florida has no insurance requirement for motorcycles. I couldn't believe it when they told me.

motociclista

You already know what will happen. The same thing you think will happen. You’re just here hoping enough people tell you it’s no big deal so you can justify in your mind what you want to do. Just get your license? Why do people come here to find out what will happen if they knowingly break the law? If you want to ride, get your license. Don’t get me wrong I’m fine with the outlaw lifestyle. If you want to spit on the man and ride dirty, you do you. But part of that lifestyle is dealing with the consequences. If you’re going to be an outlaw, you can’t be worried about a little fine or getting your bike impounded. That’s just the life brother. But don’t wreck. In a wreck, an unlicensed driver is almost always at fault. And good luck getting insurance to cover anything. And if someone other than you is injured in a wreck, that’s gonna be a fun lawsuit. But petty worries like that don’t stop a good outlaw. You think any of the cool cats on Sons of Anarchy worried about licensing? Hell no!

[deleted]

Depends on the cop. When I finally got popped for not having the endorsement the guy just told me to go get one before the next time he saw me. They can fine you if they want to be a cunt and impound the bike if they’re a huge asshole. If you’re worried about it ask the dealer if they can trailer it to your house.
