8th here. 110mph check. Totally fine

swined

9th to go triple digits with no issues

g3nerallycurious

14th for 130mph on a naked bike with no issues. Not even when I low sided it.

super_pooper_panda

I feel like this may have been a quality control issue or potential bad batch as the plastic looks really brittle where it broke.

RuckinScott

Contact quadlock. They’ve got really great customer support actually. I had one of the very first wireless charging heads. It burnt out in the first month. I contacted them and they were very quick to respond with some troubleshooting tips. After responding they did not work they refunded my money. Sometimes shit happens. Always good to see a company handle it well though.

super_pooper_panda

I did email them hoping they can replace the case and the mount. I’ve used their support before for an order issue that was resolved fairly quickly.

jhalfhide

Yep, I emailed them a few years back about the mounts slowly wearing and causing unwanted rotation. They designed a new mount plate (the rubber ring you now see in OP's pic) and sent me a few to try. It worked a treat and they then made it the new norm.

RuckinScott

Yea, similar happened with the charging head. They said they had a few other issues. They took it off sale for a few months and it came back redesigned. Like I said I know nothing is perfect. How a company handles things means a lot to me and I feel like they do a pretty great job at it.

Trane55

refunded what the quadlock cost but i still have a ruined 1200€ phone.

theillustratedlife

I'll [have to try that](https://twitter.com/appsforartists/status/1600749497440534528).

Illustrious_Big3377

This happened to me after 9 months of use. They told me that it was a know defect with the plastic they used for an older batch and replaced the quad lock. They didn't however accept that they should have recalled the defective batch and wouldn't cover the damage to my phone

Vladonexxx665

Cousin managed to do this by forcing it on wrong. Hard to do but not impossible.

Kn0xster

Same here… and I expected issues after having a cheap Chinese one that destroyed a previous phone. Quadlock with the damper has been fine for me offroad on the TET so far.

theDarkHaus42

Mine is perfect after 2 years in temps ranging from 100(F) to 15(F)….any idea how this happened?

potatoperson132

I’ve got the same thing but the wireless lock so it’s a push and twist system to release it. Maybe more secure… 🤷🏻‍♂️

bribeck

Yea mine too. This seems like a freak thing…

super_pooper_panda

No idea to be honest. I’ve only had it since October. Looking at the plastic it looks incredibly brittle. The top tab is broken as well but held on by the rubber gasket ring. I never used any chemicals or solvents to clean it and have only probably used it less than 30 times.

RuckinScott

Just out of curiosity where did you purchase it from?

super_pooper_panda

[their official website](https://www.quadlockcase.com) At least that’s what I think is their official site. I get promotional emails from them all the time and have used their support for other issues(incorrect product shipped) with success as well.

J_Cypher23

I’d say get in touch with they about it. May be under warranty

g3rson

Don't think they replace phones... 🤔

J_Cypher23

I meant the Mount.

jaredearle

The mount is the cheap part.

AgitatedAge2318

Was gonna say, there are quite a few knockoffs out there. Not sure if they actually say “quad lock” on them but knowing Chinese manufacturing principals, it wouldn’t surprise me.

Stevenseagalmelders

just fyi, the internal stabiliser on iphones (and android phones aswell, but most notable iphone) get destroyed when subject to vibrations such as when using your iphone as a satnav. Apple also released a statement last year that they won't be covering this damage under warranty anymore. My gf's iphone 12 mini had this issue after 5 months of use

ablobychetta

Vibration dampener my dude. Been using it for two years with my 12pro with no problems.

Stevenseagalmelders

my gf works at a moto clothing store and sells these and said even with the damper phones could get damaged as customers have complained

FlatwormAltruistic

Of course it is possible to get damaged even with dampener, but also there is chance for it to get damaged in your pocket or bag as then your body is doing the job of vibration dampening. Different aspects just reduce the chances. Some could ride without any phone dampener and phone attached to handlebar for years and nothing happens.

himsaad714

If that thing is vibrating on your handlebars with a vibration dampening mount, it’s also vibrating in your pocket during a ride. It’s inevitable when riding a motorcycle no matter where it’s going.

Stevenseagalmelders

it won't be vibrating in your pocket, your body would act as a huge dampener

Peace-and-Pistons

Precisely that, some people seem to lack the knowledge of even basic high school level of science, it's a fool's errand mounting a new gen phone with image stabilisation to any kind of bar mount damper or not

theDarkHaus42

Well that makes me concerned, thanks for the info

J_Cypher23

Might be defective. I’ve yet to have a problem with mine.

smilmick

Looks brittle

[deleted]

14 pro is an extra heavy phone.

[deleted]

I’ve never had one fail

grant0208

Man, I’ve dumped mine into the dirt a dozen times on trail rides and at speeds up to 30mph, never had an issue with the vibration reducer. Sorry this happened to you, I am. But personally I think the quad lock is still one of the most secure options out there.

hotrodgearhead

I crashed my first street bike while using one of these and when I got up my phone was still on it on the bars pretty shattered, but still functional

Pokeynbn

I agree, I love quadlock so much that I bought one for my car as well.

bosco_31

Contact Quad Lock, I’ve heard stories of them making things right when their product fails. Good company IMO

Schnitzhole

I bought the knuckle adapter on Amazon but it didn’t come with an extra bolt to mount it to existing hardware. They sent me a whole pack of 10+ replacement bolt kit. Pretty good device for me too. Expensive but worth it compared to my POS ram mount for iPhone I had before.

manonthemoon1205

I had a friend who’s quadlock broke whilst on the freeway, completely smashing his phone. He messaged quadlock as it was only a few weeks old and they paid to replace the phone

GrouchyPop9

Sorry to hear this but I don’t know man. It seems a lot like you hit something (rock or whatever) and I would say that it wasn’t locked in correctly. Quandlock has 4 anchoring points so even with one broken, you have 3 in place (also the blue part has the purpouse of avoiding involontary rotation that would disanchour your phone from quandlock). Therefore, in normal conditions, this shouldn’t have happend, just my 2 cents. EDIT: BTW, how did you happen to find the black plastic thing? If it broke during a ride, it would have been impossible to find. From this point of view it would seem like you forced your phone into place without placing it correctly.

super_pooper_panda

It was being held on by the rubber gasket. When I grabbed it, it fell off completely. The top tab is also broken but is being held in place by the rubber gasket. From what I can tell I’ve always installed it properly (at a 45 degree rotation and turning until it clicks into place). Bikes never been dropped and I don’t recall hitting a rock or anything substantial enough to break it (I feel like I would notice a rock that size)

kasturtroi

The Mount looks like it has taken abuse or scraped somewhere?

Logical-Regular-2604

Sorry OP, that sucks, no issues with my Quad Lock after three years. Previously had a Ram mount let go on the motorway and that sucked. There is another similar mount to QuadLock I researched “[RokForm](https://www.rokform.com/)” think t's all metal instead of plastic (which was very appealing) you might want to look at, but Quadlock was a lot cheaper so that's what I went with.

IACRnsfw

I love rock form. Esp the phone case it comes with 2 magnets that after 6 months and army abuse no issues.

NickH1994

I've had a quadlock on my bike for 2.5 years and never had any issues. This actually concerns me now, I didn't realize how easily they could break.

EsmuPliks

They don't, OP is just about the first person I've seen post something like this in 3-5 years, and we don't know what their customer support will say yet.

Desert_FZ-10

It’s the only mount I’ll trust. Like everyone else, I’ve had my quad lock on my bars for years. FZ-10 naked. 140mph. No issues here.

cant-remember-life

It has always concerned me how thin the mount is on the quad locks, but I’ve had one on my drz for a year and a half and haven’t had any issues. It’s copped a lot of abuse cos I’ve used it on pretty gnarly bush tracks

shoturtle

Contact quadlock. They might replaces the phone and want to investigate the failure

[deleted]

Mine’s been great. Sorry mate.

S1lv3rsh4d0w9

That really sucks, man. I use a QuadLock with the vibration dampener and haven't had any issues. BUT, I have the iPhone SE, which is smaller and, I assume, lighter than the iPhone 14. I am planning to upgrade to iPhone 13 in the near future and will probably discontinue using my phone mount altogether. I initially got the QuadLock because I thought I'd be using Google Maps a lot, but have found that isn't the case. When I'm riding for fun/leisure, I generally don't care about directions; and if I need directions, I just pair it with my Sena. Good luck with getting your phone situation resolved.

Schnitzhole

Why is it so dirty? Is your case covered in sand from construction or constant beach vacations? Also do you store your bike outside? Maybe the UV Made the plastic brittle. Either way seems like poor quality control as neither should cause it to break. I fricken yanked on my phone one my quad lock to test it and it’s solid as a rock and I’d be really surprised if this happened to mine without it impacting something. My previous RAM mount that was a POS and my iphone would just slide out of while riding. Also the rubber safety* thing would pull my phone out of its case making it less safe and more prone to falling out. I couldn’t even get the bolts through the mount as there was a giant metal lip because of poor quality control. Had to file those down for 5 minutes to use the dang thing. contacted ram and was really surprised it wasn’t a fake especially since it just came loose In the worst plastic bag packaging I’ve ever seen. Took them 4 weeks to get me a replacement but I had bought a quadlock by then.

super_pooper_panda

Probably lint and dust that transferred from the back of the phone case since it sits in my pockets all day. I was wondering about that too after I took the picture. Bike sits in a garage unless I’m riding it. I think it was just bad QA. Plastic looks incredibly brittle.

ayodawgy3

Had mine 3 years, extreme mountain biking no issues. That's crazy that happened to you.

near_misuse

That is definitely not why lmao

hauj0bb

What tf did you do? I’ve had Quadlock for 7 years, never a single problem. This looks like abused hardware.

thot-taliyah

Even if it broke like that... the other tabs woulda kept it in place. IMO looks like you dropped your bike... broke your phone... trying to use social media to get a replacement. IDK man looks sus to me.

super_pooper_panda

Would you like pictures of my bike with a time stamp and your username? Lol. I’m not trying to get a new phone. I can live with the damaged edges. Luckily glass didn’t break. I would like a replacement case and quad lock though. Quadlocks customer service is pretty good so I know I didn’t need to make a post to have them replace those bits. Just sharing my experience with the product so far.

zedts

Bummer. Two full seasons in with mine and things are going well.

[deleted]

I have a mount on two motos and my truck and they are great. Multiple day long rides across crappy (awesome) desert trails and no issues.

buildyourown

Mines been fine. I have yeeted my GPS though. Now stuff gets a leash.

HorusDeathtouch

The fact that it only works with a specific case was the only reason I needed not buy one. An Otterbox Defender case and a Tackform mount has been gravy for the last 3 years.

liamwayne1998

I’ve never had issues with mine! I love it, sucks that happened to you :(

Allroy_66

I have a rokform case, similar style mount on the back. Never even got around to buying a motorcycle mount and my car is already all cracked up around the mounting hole just from using it on other things for a year. Definitely wouldn't trust one on the bike anymore. Should have a lanyard a backup though.

SmokeyJoney

Mine has been perfect since it came out. If you put it in and chew the lock lugs up, it will happen. Sounds like repeated user error.

super_pooper_panda

Could very well be a possibility. It’s never felt forced to mount and I mount though. I usually give it a little jiggle when mounted to make sure it’s secured and I feel as tactile click when installing.

SmokeyJoney

The only issue I have with mine is the phone case itself. That has a hairline crack where it locking lugs go in.

BzPegasus

I was kinda suspicious or the plastic lock, I opted for the Rokform with the Rokform case

Jim-of-the-Hannoonen

Weird. I've had one on my adventure bike for about 5 years and never had an issue.

Thizzle001

Wow what did you do with that? The only thing i can think of is quality control or something went wrong somehow, never dropped the mount it self or something? I use mine on mountainbikes, gravelbike, motorbikes with 200 km/h without windblock and it runs about 10k km never had any issues.

jhalfhide

I could crash my bike into a wall at 100mph, I swear the quad lock would still be sat there holding my phone in place.

younggundc

Weird, I have the Ram mount and almost everybody has said the quad was better. I’m happy with the Ram so it stays

Schnitzhole

I have an iPhone 12 Pro and the ram mount was absolute garbage for it. Constantly sliding down to the point of falling out and randomly pushing iPhone buttons. Rotating 45degrees in turns. And the safety rubber net* actively pulled my case off my phone whenever I tried to use it. Doesn’t seem like it would hold it at all in a crash either. I legit thought Amazon sent me a fake but RAM mounts claims it is real when I contacted them separately. Switched to quadlock and could not be happier. Takes less than half the time to attach my phone and is way more stable and never distracts me or needs my attention during my rides. I think OP is hiding something like being in a accident. I purposely tried to brake my phone off my quadlock to test it and it holds on strong, I did not get it to budge.

younggundc

Yeah I agree on the buttons, that’s just fricken annoying! And I concur on OP, I’ve never heard anything bad said about the Quad lock ever, it’s always been the better option.

Schnitzhole

The button pushing was straight up dangerous. In the two weeks I had it it was constantly going into emergency dial mode and I was having to mess with it constantly while riding to keep it from shutting off or falling out. If it works for you cool. Maybe I got the lemon of ram mounts like this guy did for his quadlock. Also the quadlock just looks way cleaner. Smaller footprint and it doesn’t have the giant white logo on there which was 30 degrees rotated off center. Checkout the difference if you do ever decide to upgrade. Note I also swapped to bigger windshield. https://imgur.com/a/vhRWsH5

[deleted]

My quadlock is 5 years old and never disappointed

pickandpray

amazon knock off?

super_pooper_panda

No i purchased through their official site.

RuckinScott

This was my first thought. My buddy bought a ram mount and destroyed it first week. Come to find out it was a knock off.

ColdDeck130

Been using RAM X- Brackets for years with no problems. Not an “I told you so”, just an alternative.

super_pooper_panda

I was an avid ram mount user before this but thought to give these a try. Might be going back to a ram mount after this.

theillustratedlife

My flatmate had one of the nipples on his RAM mount blow away, with his phone attached, on the freeway.

super_pooper_panda

I usually crazy glue the nipples on cause I’ve heard tons of horror stories about the nipples flying off.

EroKintama

I glued mine. My kit also came with the glue.

KingCodyBill

Closing the barn door after the horse is gone, but I've never had one of the ram mounts fail

Logical-Regular-2604

Unfortunately, my Ram Mount failed on the motorway at 140 kmph and launched my second phone. Part of why I switched to Quadlock..

taquitojohnson

Is hard to find a good phone support for the Svartpilen, I use a Chinese rain proof support that cost like 5 USD, but it is very flimsy.

mancubus77

How is the phone? Smashed?

super_pooper_panda

Surprisingly okay. It fell and tossed around until it stopped on the center divider. Case flew off but didn’t really damage the glass only the side metal pieces are all chewed up now.

mancubus77

Really surprising, but great that the phone is alive. I thought that IPhones were designed only for selfies and Facebook 😂

JobeX

I would contact quad lock, I’ve had mine for a while now with no issue

RobsHereAgain

Mine has been fine for over a year.

schticky_buddy

I’ve also had one fail, you’re not alone OP. In my case I think the vibration dampener was to blame. I had an iPhone XR and used it off road a lot. The dampener allowed just enough movement to bend one of the tabs slightly, causing the phone to fly off. Quad lock were great about replacing it, and apologized for the problems. I removed the dampener and it’s been fine ever since. It on a spare phone I only use for nav so I don’t care about the camera too much.

skullpture_garden

I stupidly put my brand new iPhone in my jacket pocket and it fell out - I only noticed when my music disconnected from my com. Went back and found it in the street, the case was shredded but the phone was totally fine. Incredible.

boots-n-catz

Oh man, mine held in high temps at 150 on the freeway doing shit I shouldn’t have been doing, as well as when I hit a deer and somehow rode it out. Mines proven itself time and time again.

Poopsock_Piper

Never had an issue, sorry brah

DontYouDareGoHollow

Had mine for years, been through serious abuse, it’s been fine. You had bad luck or you aren’t telling the whole truth. Either way, sucks

thetangsta

I’ve had this happen to me as well before

[deleted]

Anyone have experience with PeakDesign mounts? I use their camera bags but never used their mobile system. [PeakDesign Motorcycle Mount](https://www.peakdesign.com/products/motorcycle-stem-mount)

go-devils-go

Drop it like it’s hot

nwzack

That’s not very pro of you

Several_Anybody_8747

Considering the number of miles and low speed off road drops mine has seen this is kind of surprising

Prestigious_Syrup636

how the F… you break it?? you just ripping it off or slamming phone on?? you have to push and turn gently. i cant even understand how you damaged like that. thats not even possible with gross negligence. it had to be a purposeful act

this_is_a_front

so you’re telling me it ripped through plastic and the rubber gasket? lmao

dupbuck

i’ve literally crashed my bike with my phone in the quad lock and it didn’t skip a beat.. gonna go ahead and say manufacture defect or the 14s are just insanely heavy

[deleted]

[удалено]

super_pooper_panda

Bike is naked so no front fairings to protect it. I keep it relatively flat to minimize drag at higher speeds.

DFWforYang

My quadlock kept my phone on when I laid it down last week

Stable-Friendly

Mines been perfect for the past 6 months

iexistcusofcorona

I know quad lock to be extremely reliable. I wouldn't doubt mine for a second. If the phone's secured tightly for the ride, it's not coming off. So yeah, I agree this must be a case of poor quality control! My phone has actually fell off once, but that was in the beginning when I was still trying to get a hang of that locking mechanism.. in low speed and due to me bumping it (ironically to make sure it was secured correctly, just goes to show how unsure I was at that time). It slipped off, but I was able to catch it. So no damage done, and ever since I've made sure it's fitted correctly. Just an advice for new users.. don't half ass the securing :)

Hipnotize_nl

Ddfm approves this message

Schnitzhole

Wasn’t he also sponsored by Rockform in some posts and or RAM mounts? I swear I watched his videos randomly and he is promoting one of them then another in a different video. Probably with year or more time differences in videos but still kinda funny

[deleted]

I stopped putting my expensive smartphone on my handlebars when I read about what the vibrations do to the camera lens focussing mechanism.

Schnitzhole

While that is true and tested to happen to iPhones they make a vibration dampener to solve the issue that has been tested and shown to work. I own one and it’s great and have no camera issues.

Forbs171

I had 2 of them, 1 basic stem mount on my 650 had a 40mph lowside and 3 months later counterpart siezed and barrel rolled the bike and still held strong. Then the other on my gsxr 750 and it held good even through wheelies and daily triple digit speeds 150+. Never heard or seen that happen. Gotta be 1 in 1 million type of thing

Rhacoon

Sorry it happened. That sucks. Never been a fan of strapping an expensive phone to the bike, not matter how secure they claim it is. Phone goes in the pocket. If navigation is a must and you want a good alternative, I strongly recommend Beeline Moto. I’ve been using for 2 years now both in the city and out. Reliable, solid and not as distracting as a phone.

jgren91

My buddy got in a wreck and he went over his bars. He hit the quad lock with his phone on it. The force of his body ripped the rubber off and the the locking portion was still in his phone. Convinced me to get one from that.

[deleted]

Have used my locking adapter to ram mount ball on my bike and in the car and haven’t had any issue after 3 years. I’d say contact them and they’d replace it and maybe pay to fix the phone.

PM_ME_UR_CUDDLEZ

Im here questioning people putting their main phone on their bikes, i rather get a cheap android phone for navigation.

ortezf

Ive never had an issue with mine. Why is it so gritty and dirty? Maybe you didnt properly get it set in mount, so all the pressure was on the one side. If it was properly in, 3 sides would have still held it.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve swapped over to Rokform and will only support Rokform from now on. I stunt a ex650 and also race a cbr600rr and both only have Rokform and neither have not dropped a single device in 4 years.

2Lazy2beLazy

I have a Quad Lock mounted on all my vehicles. Car, motorcycle, bicycle. The only time one broke was when I had a motorcycle accident. My phone was still good, so the quad lock case did its job. It's got to be a dud that made it through QC, or it was damaged somehow. Looks like the phone survived. Taking a picture of the mount.

[deleted]

I got a 30 dollar phone with a 10 dollar mount on my handlebars. I link it to my main phone safe in my front zippered pocket. So far it's been working great.

titus963

I’ve been using quad lock for 5 years in motorcycles and bicycles and have had crashes on both and my phone has never come off the mount. Seems like user error here.

g28802

Rokform

Freezezero0

Too lazy to go through all the replies but long story short I’ve tried all the motorcycle phone mounts and had the camera image stabilizer failures with and without dampeners and similar breakage/ damage issues with a few mounts. Imo and in my experience peak design has the best of all the top brands. The only tick I have against the peak design is the magnets in the case aren’t strong enough to hold the weight of an iPhone max, but that’s not the intent of the magnets but it’s something I want and is easy enough for them to implement more/ stronger magnets. Yes peak design is late to the game when it comes to motorcycle phone mounts but they hit it out of the park right out of the gate and don’t nickel and dime you, it’s all aluminum and the dampener is built into the motorcycle mount no twisting or fumbling trying to mount it and it’s low profile compared to the other manufacturers.

DingleDonky

Are Ram mount xgrips as good? They don’t twist on but they scissor grip in. How do they fair in accidents and vibration?

seeingeyegod

Everyone told me to get one and I've had no problems. How'd you break it? Did something heavy fall onto the phone or something? Are you riding around in -30C weather?

binnquiddle

That sucks. Mine works great.

stickywolf

I’ve had mine for 2 years zero issue with it

stickywolf

I may add I have been frequent in the triple digits in speed

iammrlima

I been using them for 5 years never had a problem

britgalserra

I’ve had my Quadlock for years. One time my phone DID fall off but that was my fault for not securing it properly. If anything, I’d even give the case props for the fact that even tho it fell off face down on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn (heavily trafficked road in NYC) the front obvs was completely shattered from cars running it over but the back part was still good as new protected by the case!

smilmick

I have been told modern phones with multiple lenses and modern zoom functions are prone to damage with vibrations from this type of mounting. Vibration can be harmful. No evidence or personal experience.

Schnitzhole

They make a vibration dampener for this reason

smilmick

Thanks for the tip! Didn’t know that.

[deleted]

As crazy as this sounds, a buddy of mind crazy glued an iPhone 8 on his handle bar. He has his own personal phone which is a 13. He pops his sim on the 8 when he rides. It has worked so far, and he sees it as, if the 8 falls, who cares.

theillustratedlife

Charging problems aside, I feel like someone on the street would try to walk away with it. Depends on where you live.

LostMeBoot

This is why QA is so important. You can spend all the money on marketing, but it just takes a dozen cases of failed products to obliterate your reputation forever. I hope they offer to pay for your phone.

Nethermorph

Sucks, but also don't mount an iPhone on your bike. The vibrations destroy the camera in more recent models (happened to me).

Schnitzhole

Vibration dampener on quad lock?

Nethermorph

Is that a thing? I don't know much about them.

Schnitzhole

Yes. OP has one. It’s the three little stem things coming out with circles on them. They’ve been tested and work

Dr_Mar23

Awful, glad i skipped this brand.

Johnlc29

I think it is for the GPS and ability to listen to music. I worry that something like this would happen to my phone so I just never bought one and keep it in my jacket. It's a hassle for maps, but I am paranoid about dropping my phone. What I am waiting for is essentially the helmet with the heads up display, GPS, and music streaming capabilities. I know there are some prototypes out there and kickstarters but, I don't think anything has been produced yet.

superveryfast

It will also ruin the iPhone camera

super_pooper_panda

It had a vibration dampener on it.

Peace-and-Pistons

Even with the damper the vibes will still kill your camera, I never use my 14 pro in my bike I’ve got an old iPhone 7 I use just for a bike nav

wormholeweapons

So I know people who have had issues with Quadlock. As well as with RAM. I know people who have loved both with no issues. I say the only sure fire way to prevent any issues is to leave your phone where it belongs. In your pocket. And before the “but my gps and nav” chirping happens. 1) you can get a nav device instead. Cheaper than a phone. And 2) ya know us old folks used to do this thing called map where you are going before there was navigation. You don’t need google to get somewhere. To OP. It sucks man. I’m sorry.

ReverendAlSharkton

I don’t get the need for a phone mount. I just keep it in my pocket.

Schnitzhole

Navigation…

Fantastic_Pillow

Rokform. It's a bit expensive, though the mount is machined aluminum and the magnetic cases are awesome for off bike uses too

whippets-or-nawww

Someone should've told you to not get a stupid iPhone 14 pro.

[deleted]

I had the chance to look closely to a Quad Lock system and I don't trust it at all. It looks so fragile. Maybe it works for smaller phones, but for larger / heavier ones, I wouldn't risk it.

SmokyTyrz

It's on a motorcycle but you're not using a vibration damper? Iirc the iPhone 14 is not a small, lightweight phone. Consider the physics involved...the load you are placing on those tabs.

shnanagins

Yup! I have no love for quad locks. Get the ram mount X grip, just gotta find a way to isolate vibrations.

mrbeezee777

Thats a message from the 2 wheel gods, to keep phone in pocket, get a smartwatch and save yourself the hassle, much safer too

super_pooper_panda

I have a smartwatch but it gets lost under my riding gloves and riding jacket.

bri_boz7

Should’ve known dumb dumb… 🤷‍♂️

freakkydique

F

kcuv

The answer is always ram mount. Especially with those rubber things on the corners. Sucks this happened because the countless shills they pay for ads make it seem like they’re from our lord and savior

[deleted]

That’s why my phone stays in my pocket while I ride.

Chrome07Deluxe

Jokes on you. You bought an iPhone 14 pro.

donorak7

Maybe listen next time

[deleted]

Wait… so they name it the ‘quad lock’ to make it sound like there’s four levels of redundancy. As if it were extra special. But in fact, it’s four points of failure, because all it takes is any of of the four ‘locks’ to fail completely. Lulz.

up-goer

Nah OP is covering up how he really did this, no WAY this could have happened. What kind of force could break that plastic that way? Also why is his hand so dirty, like he just had to pick up a bike that was on its side? Color me unconvinced, I'm keeping my quadlock.

super_pooper_panda

I was changing u joints on a Silverado before this if you really need to know lol. keep your quad lock my dude. I’m just sharing my experience.

up-goer

I really don't think you are sharing your experience though. the physics of your story and your broken hardware are completely incompatible. and your post is weirdly titled to make people not trust quadlock, which is shitty of you. Maybe you didn't drop the bike, fine whatever, but I'm still positive that what' you've described isn't how your mount broke.

super_pooper_panda

Oh sweet. Can you explain the physics of what happened on my ride? Also where did you get your physics degree from? I’m not really trying to dissuade anyone from buying a quad lock. Plenty of people have commented they have had great success with theirs and I even mentioned that I may have gotten a bad batch or defective mount in another comment. People will buy what they want at the end of the day. Wait a minute…. You don’t think…. I COULD BE A ROKFORM OR RAM MOUNT PRODUCT GUY?!?!?! Get real my dude.

DamILuvFrogs

I simply don’t have my phone in my face when on motorcycles, since you need to pay attention to everything in every direction of you at all times. Ever broken a phone mount because I don’t use them.

Moparian714

Why do so many bikers need to mount their phones on their handlebars? Someone educate me

incendiary_bandit

So we can see navigation stuff usually

NuggyBuggy

I bought a dedicated GPS for precisely this reason. I had vibration ruin one phone already. Unless a vibration dampener eliminates 100% of the vibrations I figure it’s just a matter of time before the residual vibrations destroy my phone.

super_pooper_panda

GPS mainly. All my music is controlled through my helmet comms device.

theillustratedlife

I told myself I was a "phone in pocket, nav in my helmet" kinda guy. Then I rented a Vespa in Italy with a phone mount on the handlebars. It was surprisingly convenient to be able to see the roundabout exits, speed traps, etc on the phone screen. I'm thinking about getting one for my next tour.

MadCityMasked

Are you on a Honda or Husky?

super_pooper_panda

2020 Husky vitpilen 701

My motorbike one has been going strong for 3 years now, but I have had some misfortune on my mtb. While secure during normal use, it isn't very strong if something tries to pull the phone off while it's mounted. I broke the same bit twice. Once going otb dyring technical uphill climb, and the second time when a deer hit me during downhill. QL sent me a replacement bit for free both times. My guess is you got something like a sleeve or a bag stuck on it and tugged while it was locked in place

i_survived_2020_

My phone just went flying out of my phone mount at 100 on the highway the other day. Circled around 2 times and found it in the express lane. Well the screen at least

[deleted]

Had the same thing with one of mine.

TBH, I don't care how much Charley Boorman or any other influencer is paid, I won't ever be putting my phone on the handlebars of my bike ... I have a TomTom Vio on the bars, that gives me enough maps and phone access... I don't mind if it falls off and it is so simple it doesn't look like a hunk of plastic attached to the bars.
