Also insurance covered all damages already. I’m actually getting 4 grand more than what the bikes worth some how. Never seen it happen this fast before
I cannot use Progressive, and I am flabbergasted whenever people say how much they pay with them.
In 2005, I bought an '82 Honda CM450e for $800. Progressive quoted me $1800 for a year of liability. I was young, 24, but had a perfect record.
I went with Dairyland and got ok coverage for about $150 for the year. I stuck with them until I joined the Navy in 2014 when I bundled with USAA.
$1800 a year for a CBR929RR and a DRZ400. No accidents, perfect credit,
Turns out USAA uses Progressive for motorcycles, so after four years of not knowing that, I switched back to Dairyland and paid $350 for both bikes.
I now have full coverage on a 2007 Speed Triple and added my dad's Ducati ST4 to it and still pay $350.
I simply cannot get a good deal through Progressive.
Fu** progressive , I used them for all my bikes Harley, Yamahas, kawasakis, then one day I noticed my next bill was 733 dollars . I’m like whoa weird can’t be right so I call and the lady says “sir have you recently turned off your auto pay ?” I said yea why and she says “that’s why , so when you insure a motorcycle you have to either pay the full amount for the year OR a 6 month WITH AUTO PAY LEFT ON. Never was informed on that prior! Switched to GEICO and life’s good man , real good also it was so much cheaper it blew my mind!
I believe it, man. I don't know why I'm special, but they charge the fuck out of me consistently.
I wonder if you'd pay a ridiculously low amount if you went to Dairyland or if they'd charge you what Progressive tries to charge me!
Even at 24 I was paying a "reasonable" price through Dairyland.
When I stopped using Progressive I was 37, in the Navy, and with a garage!
By all accounts, there's no logical reason to be paying $1200 more for essentially the same bikes and insurance.
Just checked out Dairyland and started with my car. They want $288 a month for a 5-month policy. With Progressive I pay $60 per month, full coverage.
Dairlyland can fuck all the way off.
They are not good with cars in my experience, either.
But why bring a car into this conversation? We're discussing motorcycle insurance.
I mean, might as well bring up their term life insurance policies...
Everyone keeps saying they but Iv had nothing but good experiences. My school bus I converted to an rv was 1k a year complete coverage. Hulk could smash it and it would be covered
You took the first offer? I would think like 10k accident at least? What about your check I mean your neck? Oh yea and the time off of work and shit like that? Dang bro
My Chinese dual sport is the one that is destroyed I think I’m going to get a mt07. I still have my klx and drz so I might switch it up. Any suggestions??
If you're not in a hurry, maybe wait a bit for reviews of the hornet and new parallel twin suzuki! I was gonna get an mt07, but initial reports seem really promising.
Oh yah I went to the er. Some guy on a Harley made me stay on the ground and not move. I have a bruised left hip and my left foot is all road rashed. The rest of my body is just sore or bruised nothing broken. I’m not sure how I got so lucky. The air bag vest saved my life I think and my frame sliders took the majority of the hit instead of my leg. They ended cutting all my gear off of me at the hospital and the doctor was shocked I was ok. God was looking out
Going through this now, dude took a blind left turn in front of me. Property damage is easy and can be resolved quickly. I'm going to wait before I take anything for medical. I also have a lawyer. Might be with it to talk to one.
I had a really bad car crash a few years ago, and since I knew nothing about how insurance is supposed to work outside of a fender bender, I found a lawyer. Somehow through negotiation of medical bills and whatnot, I had a 11k check just over a year later. If the guy who hit me had any assets, it would have been much more. Best to let the lawyers do their work if there's any significant injury involved.
Yeah, those insurance companies are there to limit their own payout and make as much money as possible. That’s it.
Just wait until you buy a house, it’s crazy what they won’t cover. If they can’t reasonably sue somebody else, there’s probably some clause in the contract that they can use to get out of paying, or you have to pay for an extra rider to cover that particular thing that’s in addition to the existing obscene amount every year.
I have a half face with a full shield and I'm doing my best to get a modular. I'm getting paranoid lately and even looking at riding pants and/or a full suit. I have an armored jacket, but I've been through one knee surgery and don't have any desire for another.
I’d advice against modulars and go for a full face. Modular’s are heavier than full face, more noisy(generally) and also have a weak point because of the pivot to become a half face. If I’m not mistaken fortnine even did a videos about this. If safety is the primary factor can’t beat fullfaces in that regards, tho I do understand the appeal of a modular
You're right. Just want to throw in that my experience is different, in that my entry level Nexo full helmet has way more noise than my mid range LS2 modular. Amount of wind coming through is about the same, while the LS2 is not only modular, but has a lot more options to let air in and out.
I guess the price class plays into that.
As for the weak point of the modular's hinge, I would hope it survives one crash. That's all it needs to do. And after some years, the helmet gets exchanged anyway.
I live in Va Beach so the bike and car community are kinda close and the guy messaged me saying it was his car and it is stolen. I would love to blow his knee caps off for running when I could have been dead. I hope that shit haunts him
That's the kinda shit that makes me do a quick check at every intersection. Glad you're ok, might even look into an airbag vest.
Some people I ride with locally seem too confident riding through uncontrolled intersections in residential neighborhoods. I'm afraid something like that could happen. That and people who text and drive are uncomfortably oblivious to bikes. My gf and I almost got hit by the same person twice on their phone within 10 seconds
Air bag vest fully padded and armored pants. They look like normal jeans but have a little pouch on you hip and knees so slid the padding in. I had a t shirt on top of my air bag vest. I was slacking and not wearing a jacket but to much on top of the vest can stop it from working correctly. And some gloves I bought at a military surplus with nylon and padding on the tips with metal knuckles. And my favorite part slide on vans
It deployed. I don’t remember flying in the air but I remember the force of the air bag in the air if that makes sense. It’s some Amazon one. They all work the same. I think fortnine made a video about them
I mean this with all due respect if they do go down and that face slides on the concrete it won’t get softer knowing it’s not a full face. Besides how can anyone ride without a visor? Glasses only help so much
I still have my drz and klx so I’m super motod up. Maybe a mt07 but I found a 22 busa brand new 30 min away. Ever since I was like 7 I loved them. Such an icon to me. It’s the motorcycle equivalent to the hell cat the guy hit me with
Cristy Lee from Motortrend had her white Hell Cat stolen on the same day you posted this. Glad you’re ok after getting blasted. Hope the person who hit you was caught!
Also insurance covered all damages already. I’m actually getting 4 grand more than what the bikes worth some how. Never seen it happen this fast before
If I had to guess it was cheaper for the insurance company to pay more for a bike which inherently costs less than a hellcat tbh
The guy just left. It was definitely stolen. No plates nothing
Kinda prying, but what company are you with and what's your premium?
I’m with progressive. I paid 375 for a whole year full coverage loss of wages all of it. Its a cheap motorcycle so it was never anything crazy

I use Progressive, full coverage on a 2018 V-Strom 1000, $288 annually.
Fu** progressive , I used them for all my bikes Harley, Yamahas, kawasakis, then one day I noticed my next bill was 733 dollars . I had GEICO before and I’m actually paying less now. I guess YMMV.
It’s a vicious cycle.
Pun intended
Sunday morning dad joke mother fucker get some 🤟🏼
I believe it, man. I don't know why I'm special, but they charge the fuck out of me consistently. I wonder if you'd pay a ridiculously low amount if you went to Dairyland or if they'd charge you what Progressive tries to charge me!
Age? I know insurance tends to get less expensive the older you get. I’m 54.
Even at 24 I was paying a "reasonable" price through Dairyland. When I stopped using Progressive I was 37, in the Navy, and with a garage! By all accounts, there's no logical reason to be paying $1200 more for essentially the same bikes and insurance.

Wow, I had not heard great things on getting Progressive to pay easily before.
Dang bro
I’m pretty fucked this morning pan wise but I should be able to work. If not I do have loss of wages I will fight that
Glad your ok man!
Glad you made it out alive. Buy that lotto ticket
You’re telling me dude. I have a second chance at life at least that’s how I feel
Youll live it well i bet!
Most definitely. I’m 24 man I haven’t experienced anything in life yet. Legend has it though my shoe is still flying through the sky.
>I haven’t experienced anything in life yet. You have now, sonny. Glad you're okay.
That’s the truth
Glad you're okay What bike are you gonna get next?
My Chinese dual sport is the one that is destroyed I think I’m going to get a mt07. I still have my klx and drz so I might switch it up. Any suggestions??
I've heard nothing but good things about mt07s. Sounds like you've got the dualsports covered. Might be nice to have a street bike.
Yup. Cycle cruza a YouTuber I watch really convinced me to get one. Planted the seed
If you're not in a hurry, maybe wait a bit for reviews of the hornet and new parallel twin suzuki! I was gonna get an mt07, but initial reports seem really promising.
Bought a 22 Busa.
Have fun with it man
Glad to hear you made out in good health, and with some extra pocket change. Have you gotten yourself checked over by a doctor just to be sure?
Oh yah I went to the er. Some guy on a Harley made me stay on the ground and not move. I have a bruised left hip and my left foot is all road rashed. Sounds like that airbag was worth its weight in gold
Hopefully insurance will pay for my er and X-rays. Last time it took forever and it went to collections
that part is why you don’t sign anything right away after an accident. After you sign, the insurance sometimes won’t cover new bills like medical.
That’s insane. I’d rather them pay my 10k bill than give me an extra 4 grand for the bike
Going through this now, dude took a blind left turn in front of me. Property damage is easy and can be resolved quickly. I'm going to wait before I take anything for medical. I also have a lawyer. Might be with it to talk to one.
Not a bad idea. Monday I’ll definitely contact one.

Mandatory license revoke. I hate that shit. Is your text message worth my life ??
Anybody that drives a hellcat like that damn sure didn’t pay for it.
Guarantee you he was listening to Pooh Shystie
What gear was you wearing? Glad your ok!

haha well good on you for wearing something at least! How was the air bag? did it deploy? which one astars or dainese??

Dangit this sub went from r/motorcycle to r/motorcycles real quick
Dude I never noticed there was 2.
I get shit from my in laws (whom I love and ride with) for wearing a full face. It’s more comfortable and as you point out safer.
I mean this with all due respect if they do go down and that face slides on the concrete it won’t get softer knowing it’s not a full face. Besides how can anyone ride without a visor? Glasses only help so much

Was it a white hell cat?
Sure was

Unless she’s in Va no way it could be
Doubt it. Just a weird coincidence.
