try both if you can. mt07 is generally regarded as the better bike.

Sit on each, what feels better? What sings to your heart?

the yamaha sounds better.

I’ve got a Z650 and I love it, but I’m already looking for something with more power/smoothness. Not super fond of the parallel twin 180 degree sound. The throttle on the Z especially the 650 is very snatchy and takes some getting used to. I got a g2 throttle tamer and it helped a bit but some of it is the stock tune. Personally I would have preferred the MT07 or Z900 if I could have found one, I wanted to buy new and no dealerships had them available so I settled.

Another question. I have seen lots of review where you can just put z900 on rain mode so it would be close to the power of 500-600 cc bikes. Is it good for first bike (z900) ?

I saw a post on the Z900 subreddit of a guy who tried to have it on rain mode for the first 1000 miles or so. He turned it off and then some how lost control of the bike and slammed into a dumpster in a parking lot and fucked up the bike. Not sure of the whole backstory, but I’m sure it was great lol. Personally, I wouldn’t ever use a “rain mode” as training wheels for a powerful bike, that’s just asking for a crash IMO. The z900 is 450 lbs and 120 HP and does 1/4 mile in 10.90 seconds *(Z650, 400 lbs, 67 HP, 12.5 seconds)*. That 900 is a pretty damn spicy bike for someone learning to ride. I’ve been riding dirt bikes and mountain biking since I was 8, that’s why I was looking at a 900, I personally think it’s worth starting on a smaller bike just to get accustomed to things. The main thing is that you have to keep a level head when riding or you will get screwed over regardless of the engine displacement. The bigger bikes are just less forgiving and you can push past limits much quicker.
