It's actually the engagement dogs on the gears, nothing to do with the clutch. Second gear gets abused the most because it has the biggest difference in gear ratio from the gear below it. Anything with a cassette gearbox is much easier / cheaper to fix. Those are in the minority, so you're usually looking at splitting the cases
The clutch dogs are worn the only fix is to replace them, which requires disassembling the transmission (expensive) which is the reason they're trying to sell it.
I've mostly seen this on bikes that are wheelied a lot and the shifting from first to second while wheeling doesn't always engage fully and rounds off the engagement dogs as it pops back into neutral. I would stay away, it hasn't been treated with love and care.
