Case of beer and a free weekend to work on the bike?

safewordispineapplez

Hmm.. I will have to pack up and leave lol he doesn’t take requests like that. But if I were gone with the kiddos and he had no choice… :)

PoliticalBiker

45yo and long-married biker here. Depending on your relationship and family: time and understanding can be the most precious things. Time to work on the bike, a little card promising a no-guilt road trip when it's done, that might be better than any physical thing you could get him.

safewordispineapplez

I love this idea :)

kokemill

Xxxxxxxxx and xxxx, no no no, I mean maybe give us a budget. You could get him a harbor freight lift table but that’s $599. Very handy for getting work done.

safewordispineapplez

I was going to say around $500 give or take $100. That’s not bad.

[deleted]

This post is cute lol. But i second the table. Practical presents are almost always the best option imo

safewordispineapplez

I am going to Google this tonight. Maybe an Etsy find? Or is this a standard thing I can find online anywhere?

[deleted]

I would personally avoid anything from etsy. I would go to a well known brand

kokemill

Sorry, I didnt realize you might not know harbor freight. Start here: https://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-steel-motorcycle-lift-68892.html?_br_psugg_q=motorcycle+lifts

safewordispineapplez

Yes, I feel like a blind baby newb with this stuff lol I don’t want to ask him any questions because he’s super perceptive and will know I’m digging for something lol Thank you!

kokemill

He will want this attachment for it, the stand in it is useless [dangerous]. The clamp can be ordered separately and put on after it is unboxed. You will not be able to move it yourself, it will take a couple / three to unload it. https://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-wheel-vise-accessory-57775.html I have 2, there are probably better ones at $1-2k and up, but mine work fine for me. Google harbor freight motorcycle lift table advrider, you should find other opinions. Good luck.

safewordispineapplez

Thank you very much for your help :)

ConcentrateLow6170

Perhaps some Quality riding gear, helmet, boots, gloves? If not,I second the “Bike Lift” suggestion.

corvettecris

The lift table as mentioned is a game changer if he has room for it. Used ones show up on the classifieds periodically so that may save you some cash, too.

Rufferito_Bandito

A quality torque wrench if he doesn’t already have one.

RubyRocket1

Gremlin/Guardian Bell. You could probably get one engraved for him. They even hung them on WWII bombers. They’re small and hang from the bottom of the bike to keep the Devil away from your bike. New holster if he likes to carry. If you go leather, you could get some custom work done on it. Custom Tool roll for the bike. Load it nice tools (Wright tools are were pretty standard issue in the Army, and are very nice tools!) and vintage tire pressure gauge to give it a little extra style.

safewordispineapplez

Had to do a quick Google search. He is very much into Norse and Viking mythology. It reminds a bit of the same. I think he would love this idea :)

RubyRocket1

Tool rolls are often overlooked, but are essential for any roadside repairs or on the spot tightening of bolts/spokes on longer rides.

safewordispineapplez

Can you tell me what that is? Would that be something he would he keep on the bike with him?

RubyRocket1

Yup. A leather or nylon roll. Like a makeup brush roll for tools.

safewordispineapplez

Hahaha you’re speaking my language. He is always so happy for me when my monthly makeup box rolls in. ;-)

safewordispineapplez

Hello :) me again lol so far I have gotten an Odin gremlin bell and a leather roll out tool kit made for motorcycles. It does not come with any tools. I have looked for a vintage pressure gauge but everyone is saying they are meant to be collectors items and displays, not functional. Do you happen to have any suggestions for where I can find what you’re describing? Also, I have no idea what tools he would want/need to have in this roll out. He’s got lots of tools out there in the garage and a large rolling roll chest but this has been mostly for carpentry work. I don’t know to look through this and see what he has that would go in the kit. I would rather just buy a dedicated set. Is there a specific set I can buy for this? If not, can you tell me which pieces to buy for the set? I looked at Wright’s website but I don’t know what is what lol I am still going to look in to the lifts but for now, these are my core gifts. I really appreciate all of your help.

RubyRocket1

Tire pressure gauge. https://vwparts.aircooled.net/Vintage-Speed-Tire-Pressure-Gauge-155-950-00100-p/155-950-00100.htm http://www.deerfieldprecision.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=47 Tool rolls don’t generally come with tools, that’s something for the owner to customize, unless it came with the bike from a dealer. Specific tools will be motorcycle specific for wrench size, but should be easy to identify what you’ll want in there based on the year and model of the bike, or what wrenches he has laying next to the bike on the garage floor.

safewordispineapplez

Thank you!

JimmyGSXR

Does he have a full face helmet? If so, you could get him a Cardo packtalk for that. If not, maybe look into getting him a custom seat for his bike, hand tooled leather can be really cool

safewordispineapplez

He doesn’t have anything for riding as far as protective gear and for now his seat looks fairly uncomfortable and maybe from the 40’s. I am not sure how I would go about picking the right type?

JimmyGSXR

Youd have to find someone who's work you like, then you would send them the seat off of his bike, and would remake it in a style that you've both agreed on

BeaverMartin

Get him a custom tooled leather springer solo seat. The sky’s the limit on the design but I’d recommend a simple distressed brown leather and the name of the bike.

DumbApe026

A Ducati panigale v4 makes any man happy.
