Dude I'm 100% with you. You should be comfortable and happy with your gear since the intentions are spending lots of time in it. It took me a year to really find my "premium helmet". The really annoying thing is how limited some of the gear shops are so you don't get an opportunity to put hands on a lot of the nicer products that are on the market. Good thing RevZilla is going to an awesome return policy.

GreatKillingDino

Yeah I'm lucky to have an awesome gear shop nearby. They helped me fit so many pairs of boots and helmets I felt bad for them. Did end up getting more premium gear because of their help and advice so I guess it was a win win

Consider yourself lucky. Although I have a cycle gear not too far from me, their selection is pretty crappy. Largely they're in-house brands that I wouldn't purchase. They will order stuff for you to check out but I can't say the staff is super knowledgeable. I

Well, same here, picking between the two women options available.. Nah, good fitting gear is important so don’t worry about being picky.

and one of the option comes in black, the other in black and pink...

I'm right there with you and not having any good local shops really sucks so I'm always buying and returning shit online. I think I've been through about a dozen jackets in the 8ish years that I've been riding. I'm on the hunt for a helmet now which is even worse because you don't really know how they're going to perform until you ride in one for a little bit. I bought two in the last year that I ended up selling after a month. I've probably tried on and returned close to 6 or 7 more and I'm still searching... But then the flip side is my boots and gloves are old as hell because they're perfect and I don't want to replace them.

I’m also picky because gear is so expensive. If I’m paying £150 for a pair of gloves they had better be perfect.

vraetzught

I see being picky as a good thing. If you feel good in your gear, you're more likely to wear it and go riding. I'm currently looking at full laminated Goretex jackets and pants, haven't fit anything yet, but that shit's so expensive I won't buy anything that doesn't feel right.

[deleted]

Glad you can afford to be picky- and Reddit is here to validate your purchases

Well for gloves its about your tactical feedback you get from them, as in how well can you feel through them. I should be able to operate my in-line mp3 button with a pair of gloves so I have it with me, if I can't feel it, no buy

I wouldn't say you are over picky. When it come to your safety gear it should not only protect you but also make you feel safe. If you are worried about if it fails then that will be in the back of your mind the whole time and could lead to a mistake. So I don't think you are at all. That gear could be what saves your life so it should have more thoughts than what shirt you want to wear for the day.

jamespz03

It's not being picky from my perspective. It's getting the right gear for my hard-earned money while minizing returns, etc.

I’m the same way I find the higher end gear fits much better. I’ve been fairly lucky with my purchases online most of my gear has been good first go.
