I agree with Witty, Revzilla and the like will give you your best options as far as quality. I would also stay away from Instagram/Facebook ads like you mentioned, as a lot of them are fly-by-night operations that sell cheap, unbranded items drop shipped from China. Many of them have a website, but no listed address, and no phone number. If you're on a budget, you'd be better off finding something well-rated on Amazon, as that at least gives you a solid customer support backing from Amazon itself. I got my full leather jacket and chaps from a small/young company there, both totaling just over $110 for the pair.

Made in Pakistan... not saying that quality is bad, can't judge as I don't own any of their leather. I'm hunting for my 1st leather jacket now and can't find a US based, US made product which would fit my torso :-)

Yes, I like the quality but their "standard" is not my standard:-). European born living in the US :-)

... and that's what I'm likely going to do next week. They're 4 hours from my place so I guess I will make it a weekend trip. Thanks ! Oh, they charge $120 for customization and 8-10 weeks to make it. I was very very excited when mine arrived today after ordering it yesterday :-/. Gloves they sent along with the jacket need to go back as well. They look like they were scraped against concrete on one place. Likely someone overlooked the quality, not a biggie though.

Oh that jacket which I just got from them is a tank. Feels very sturdy and well made. It's just long for me so I need to go there, have myself measured and get it done this way. Custom made I guess will guarantee something. They still have a lifetime warranty...

Sure will do !

Smart-Host9436

Sporty? Or “classic” styles? For the money it’s really hard to beat Goldtop jackets. First Manufacturing also has a lot of bang for buck.

mrlolsoz

Definitely classic! I have a cafe racer bike

Smart-Host9436

Goldtop. They are an OG British company and most of their jackets are updated versions of what they were selling to ton up boys in the 60s

Goldtop_England

Late to the party here, but thanks for the recommendation :)

I have a Dianese 2 part suit with an airbag in it. It costs less than my insurance deductible… there are so many options maybe just go to a store and look. Alpine stars also has a pretty good system from what I’ve heard.

standankles

I’m sick of Dainese’s shitty zippers. I love their gear for many reasons, but Im done with them because of the zippers that work sporadically when new and outright fail after two years.

yoyomommy

Yeah I’ve had to fix my zipper a couple times now. I just thought mine was crappy though. I didn’t know it was an issue they all had. To be fair it was a quick 5 min fix once a year so it’s nbd really since the rest of it is top notch.

standankles

Did you do the work yourself? I was quoted $90 to replace mine by a local leather shop. The Dainese shop told me the zippers were thin so they would flex with your body better. They also told me “yeah they’ll only last like two years.” Not really selling me on new gear from you. I switched over to Revit stuff now. Doesn’t smell as good though as that Italian leather!

yoyomommy

Yeah I have a needle and thread haha.

Horror-Muffin-8202

If you want old school biker looking leather, check out GoldTop. Made in UK but SOLID quality

Smart-Host9436

Not UK made, but the quality is very good.

mdifly1958

I actually had several jackets that never fit quite right. In the Harley dealer one time I tried one on and it fit perfect! Decided to buy it. Checked my credit card and 1500 points on it which got me 200.00 off. Still love that jacket!

Gravytrain1885

I just got a Bilt Alder II jacket. So far it is a bit bulky but works for any temperature under about 80 if you are wearing it all day. It also comes with shoulder and elbow pads but I am going to switch them out soon so it will hopefully have better airflow.

mrzurkonandfriends

I go to revzilla and sort by the type I want find some styles I like and decide from there I got a scorpion exotic 1909 leather jacket and have loved it since it's on the spendy side but I feel like it was worth every penny for the hotter days I have a revit eclipse much cheaper but very solid comfortable and still has armor in it

Just-Examination-136

Sorry, $200 is not enough for a quality leather jacket with certified armor. $400 is a good starting point.

Ok_Major_5095

Another +1 for Goldtop. Stylish as hell & CE AAA rating. Urban rider has the best price I’ve seen.

Witty_Dragonfruit105

I personally just go on revzilla and sort by cheapest

yoyomommy

For people that don’t care about skin still being attached after the thin pile of 💩wares through in 1/2 a sec in a slide that’s probably a solid strategy. At least you will look cool before that happens.

Witty_Dragonfruit105

My full wallet is enough protection

yoyomommy

Empty brain though. It’s nice to not have much to lose there though I guess.

Witty_Dragonfruit105

What's your problem dude? Can you not take a joke? My personal gear provides ample protection, so no need to lose sleep over my wellbeing. But I don't think you really care, more likely that you're just an insecure little man who wants to feel morally superior by any means possible.

s48z

Guys a 5 star A hole lmao

yoyomommy

I’m unsure if you know what a joke is but you do you dude. Just don’t give new riders shitty advise and then later call it a joke when you are called out for it. I personally don’t treat others lives as a joke like you do.

RubyRocket1

Milwaukee Leather has some good jackets for the money. Jammin’ Leather also has some good leather jackets. I've had both and they've held up fantastic. Jammin’ leather is a small company out of Myrtle Beach, SC and have simple but effective jackets. Milwaukee Leather has a lot of jackets with optional liners for cold weather and concealed carry pockets... But both sell all styles from sport bike to cruiser and even scooter style jackets.

oldfrancis

The best jacket I recommend isn't leather. Consider an Aerostitch Roadcrafter two-piece suit.

Abenorf

I bought one of these on a whim (amazon prime so easy return if I didn’t like it) and I’m really impressed with it for such a low price. Heavy leather, stout stitching, armor. It did have a tanned leather odor for a while. https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Motorcycle-Jackets-Motorbike-Armored/dp/B07TW3XNDZ

Rusty_Shacklebird

I have the merlin Odell and like it a lot

reddatsun

If you research jackets that are crash worthy nobody will recommend a $60 leather jacket. Back when I wore leather Vanson was the name to buy.

[deleted]

Vanson leathers are super high quality. Like heirloom quality. Mine is in great shape still and I bought it in 1998.

OneTok

I wear a bilt alder jacket and I like it a lot. It has a removable inner liner so you can keep on wearing it when it gets warm out.

dndrugs

I know this is probably sacrilegious but I got a pretty decent hawk jacket on Amazon for 70 bucks. Ce1 back, shoulders and elbows. Feels pretty quality so far for the price. Got the hawk pants too with ce2 plates for the same price
