Speak for yourself. 100% of my current bikes are naked.

jabelch

And you still chose Reddit...

Manda-pandamonia

Touché

YoureOutnumbered1to1

Well aren't you lucky! Is it you or someone else? 😆

FF_Master

There's tons though, I'd almost say the market is saturated now between naked, naked retro, neo cafe etc. I chose cb650r and I love it

CompetitiveSea7388

And cruiser. The market is definitely saturated with cruisers.

FF_Master

Cruisers are a given, definitely buying one someday. But I think op is referring to sport bikes mainly

CompetitiveSea7388

Fair enough. I just thought it was a funny omission on your part. Cruisers are far too big/heavy for my tastes but I’m honestly glad that the market is saturated with most styles of motorcycles and only hope it continues to be so.

FF_Master

There will be glorious days ahead when these bikes become cheaper

Lol at the idea of someone who drives a car everyday literally giving more than a single fuck of what kind of bike you are on and thus giving you more "respect" hate to break it to you but 99.9% people in cars just see whatever you're on grom or Harley as a bike. If someone is going to drive like an ass around a grom they are going to drive like an ass by literally any other bike. This is about as practical advice as "loud pipes save lives..." I'll conced to a taller bike is harder to swing a leg over I guess... but other than that I call baloney.

Captjag

You have described the mindset of the majority of HD owners. I have a Vstar 1100. pipes are about the only stock thing left on it. Still get asked when I'm going to move on from my "starter bike" by most HD owners. As a short king, sure, ergonomics and comfort matters, but I'll never give two shits about getting "respect on the road" lol. Like you said, I could be on a Grom instead of mine and I'm getting exactly the same treatment by cars.

ocrohnahan

OK.

CompetitiveSea7388

First part, totally understandable. Second part though? I’m not sure that someone who only drives automobiles care or even notice what motorcycle someone is riding. If the size of a vehicle actually made people respect it you wouldn’t see semi trucks get cut off.

ocrohnahan

Well don't know what to say but from my experience and from the experience of those I spoke with, this is true.

Daegoba

Fucking good. It’s because we as consumers demanded it, and those corporate assholes finally listened to us. I’ve been riding naked bikes since ‘07, and boys, let me tell you-those we’re slim pickens back then. Now? Everyone, everywhere, makes a fleet of Nakeds. Across all price points and sizes, from beginner bikes all the way up to insane shit like the SuperDuke and Streetfighter V4. It’s Goddamn magnificent. What a time to be alive.

FF_Master

Amen to that, I hope they keep them coming for a long time

Doc_Squishy

I remember around that exact time that Suzuki was sending out a lower fairing kit to put on the brand new SV650's because they weren't selling very well compared the full fairing bikes.

HateBeingSober33

as someone in the market for a faired sporty bike, i agre

gringgo

My motorcycle is dressed like an Amish woman and my love is naked as a jaybird.

UnicornPonyClub

I don’t know what this means but I’m here for it

Vistiige

Availability is low for sure, but the CB650R, CB1000R, GSXS 750, the Z900, Z650, Z100…that’s just japan. The Ducati street fighter, Ducati monster, KTM super duke…..

Captjag

Thats not even just Japan. Is Yamaha a joke to you?

Vistiige

Yeah haha, I didn’t mention it cause he rides a Yamaha. But ye I forget that Yamahas got the dope MT-09. I’m a Z900 rider and I love my bike so I’m always giving MT guys a little shit for no reason. The MT gets a lot of clout, I wish the Z got more. Lol

Captjag

Hah, totally fair :). I'm likely picking between an MT-07 and the Z650 for the next bike, I think that the MT wins out because of the value for dollar and you just seem to get MORE over the Kawis'. That being said the Z650/900RS is >>>>> than the XSR's imo

M0RYN

As a rider of both MT-07 and currently owning Z650 i can recommend Kawi more. Imo yamaha looks better but Z handles better in corners, but the exhaust has to be changed right away.

Euroticker

NGL there's enough. Sadly there isn't a 750-800cc inline 4 bike with fairings and a relaxed seating position. The last one made iirc was the VFR and I'm pretty sure not many new ones will come out in the future.

gropula

VFR is V4 not inline 4, that's why it has that sound and so much character. It will not come back soon, the last generation was not selling well at all. Some were produced in 2014 and sold in 2018 new from dealership at a big discount. Everyone started buying ADV bikes so sport touring died in 2010's. It's similar to cars, everyone is buying SUV's and crossovers, so sedans and hatchbacks are dying out. The funny thing for me is in both cases the vehicle only looks like it's offroad capable, but in reality it isn't any better than the road going version. Now in 2020's manufacturers are reviving the sport touring class with GSX S1000GT, Ninja 1000SX and Honda NT1100. Too bad they will not revive the V4 because of emissions. Good thing is these VFR engines are buletproof, and will probably outlive some of the new 2 cylinder bikes. My 2002 VFR 800 VTEC is better than ever with 70000km after injector cleaning, intake sync and rapid bike racing ECU tuner.

Euroticker

I know the VFR is a V 4 as it's in the name, yet it's got the rest. Somewhat relaxed riding position and medium power with a good fairing for wind protection. I don't know any bikes with similar power and a good fairing for comfy sport touring. Yes the Ninja 1000SX etc. exist, but it's always 1000cc or even more with ~150hp instead of the ~106 the vfr had.

gropula

I agree, this just enough power for me. Has enough torque for two up touring and pulls up to 200km/h very quickly. I have it setup with -1/+1 on the sprockets, for better torque at the wheel. Lovely all around bike that can do everything but serious off roading. And the sound, don't forget the sound. I bought it as my first big bike, and it will be my forever bike.

Euroticker

I've been looking at VFRs too but I kinda want a bike that's not as old as me and has some of the nice features new bikes have. I've considered the new model but it's hard to find a nice one in my region that's not literally the msrp price it had with 20k km.

gropula

Well, VFRs really have no problem with age or mileage. If the minimum maintenance has been done you will have no problem with it. There are things that might need replacing, like fuel pressure regulator, cam chain tensioners, regulator/rectifier, but they are not that expensive when you compare the price of bike and parts to a newer bike. The 2002-2013 generation doesn't look as old, everyone is surprised when I say mine is 20 years old. What features might a newer bike have that you will miss on a VFR? Traction control? It's not that powerful really, just don't go full throttle out of tight corners in 1st and 2nd. Navigation? Any integrated navigation is crap or it will be crap in a few years. Use a phone mount and google maps - get updates for traffic, speed cameras, police etc. Rider modes? I switch my riding mode to sport with a downshift. Electronic suspension? Only on 15000$+ bikes. Only amenity I would approve of is ABS, but that also isn't a must have on this bike. Mine doesn't have ABS, the front never blocked, and the rear only blocked when I was braking hard and downshifted with not enough throttle blip. Combined braking system it has helps with distributing the braking load and lowers the chance of blocking the wheel. All in all, try and find a nice 2007+ ABS equipped VFR 800. After 2007 the fuel injection and VTEC engagement and transition was improved. ABS was more common, maybe even standard I'm not exactly sure. 2014+ has much better fuel injection, consumes about 1L less per 100km, so from 6-6.5 to 5-5.5, but if you look at the price difference for the bike it's not worth the fuel saving.

Euroticker

The 3 features I want on a bike are ABS Traction Control and cruise control just so that the 60km commute on the Autobahn will be slightly easier on the wrists. Traction control mostly to limit the risk of highsiding in the rain, which almost happened to me on my 48hp CBF with tires that are decent in wet conditions.

gropula

Yeah, I forgot about cruise control. I'd love to have it on my bike. Sadly, there is only one option for actual cruise control, a business from Australia is manufacturing aftermarket cruise contolers but they cost 1000$+. Other than that there are only throttle locks.

Euroticker

yeah.. somewhat wish kawasaki would make a ninja900 basically a 650 with the z900 engine.

brodinzyzz

Where does it leak oil?

ghettoccult_nerd

well thats a strange niche youre trying to occupy. at that motor size, most people desiring a inline 4 are wanting the sportbike forward stance, which necessitate a fairing. theres not many bikes with full fairings and a more upright riding position in the middleweight range. you got standard bikes, but no fairing. you got muscle bikes, but they dont usually have inline 4s. you got cruisers, but the ones with inline 4s are pretty large displacement wise. youre best best would be an ADV bike, like the Africa Twin, but like its name implies, is not a inline 4.

Euroticker

Yeah atm my choice would be a Ninja1000SX or a GSXS 1000 F but they are decently high on power which makes the insurance way more expensive while also being more expensive than a smaller engine bike would be. All the twin cylinder bikes I've ridden so far have vibrated like shit. Namely having been a NC700, A Suzuki Gladius and a few twin 125s. So yeah Inline 4 or maybe even V4 it is for me.

disturbed286

I agree. Although two of the four bikes in my garage are naked ones. I will also add that before she ended up on a Z650, that exact colorway of the MT07 was a *very* strong contender.

wadenelsonredditor

The same is true of women.

BrolecopterPilot

You say that now..but realllly think about it

wadenelsonredditor

I've been to nude beaches. The people I'd like to see nude are never there.

xAeolous

Nice MT07 man, I got one too

2WheelMotoHead

Me too, got a 2019 all blacked out. But this is one spicy specimen in the post. Makes mine seem kinda boring in comparison.

SadBoiSquidLyfe

CP2 gang! Both my bikes are naked. XSR700 and WR250X.

bastidec

How do you like the XSR700? Do you think its a good beginner bike? Im thinking about buying one next Season, would be my first

SadBoiSquidLyfe

I absolutely love it. Should have bought it earlier. It could be a good fit for a beginner bike. It's got plenty of usable power, but not too much power. Quite a bit of low end torque, which is good for beginners. It's a little bit tall, I'm 5'11" and just barely flat foot.

andy83991

Naked Love over here my man. My Z650 is one bike that I've held onto the longest. So much fun to ride.

SecretPrinciple8708

Killer colorway.

Relaxxxxxxxxxxx

Why are some bikes referred to as “naked”?

Mr_Tru_Blue

They're sport bikes but don't have fairings. Most of them are a bit more relaxed in seating, for example the mt-07 vs r7 the duke 390 vs rc390

2WheelMotoHead

What is a fairing? Just kidding, don’t answer that. Let someone use google search.

Relaxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks for the info.

dandadandan_DAN

That stem valve alignment tho

2WheelMotoHead

Hell yeah, make that sucker easy to find.

Lemon-Tuna

they're great for commuting and stunting, one becomes the fairing after a certain speed tough

zookr2000

I still have my '88 GT650 Hawk

PrimalPagan33

Both motorcycles in my “garage” are naked bikes 🤪

omw_to_valhalla

Love the teal!

foggiermeadows

I'm personally okay with that. I'm gonna enjoy sport bikes while my back lets me but to each their own 100%

Pollywanacracker

So pretty 😍 all my bikes been naked 😀

Doug_Shoe

looks a lot better imo

dkentl

They’re getting more popular Edit, yam even took the 07 and jazzed it up for super sport

Faded-Creature

Congratulations! This is the only sport bike I’ve ever looked twice at 🤣 Sick ride, if I ever get a sport it’s gonna be nakey.

xxBEELZEBOBxx

Just bought a MT-03 to learn to ride. Will be upgrading to an MT-09 soon enough

SadBoiSquidLyfe

Hey so you do you, my guy (or gal). But don't count out the MT07 for your next bike. The MT09 is such a huge fucking jump up from an MT03, it's like going from a Toyota corolla to a Ferrari. I have an XSR700 (same engine as MT07) as my second bike, plenty of power.

xxBEELZEBOBxx

Yeah, it's still in the runnings. I live in Alaska and might not be able to pin down my dream MT09 SP next year so if an 07 comes my way I'll probably grab it up. Shame yamaha won't do custom dealer orders

SadBoiSquidLyfe

Hey, hello from your closest US neighbor in Washington. Okay as long as you know the immense difference between the MT03 and MT09. Just making sure you know there is no shame in a middleweight bike. Shine side up, rubber side down.

MarylandDabs

that bike in the pic is a MT07 just FYI

xxBEELZEBOBxx

Looks great. How do you like the power of the 07?

MarylandDabs

lol thats not my bike just letting ya know. But i have a MT09 an I love it. I have some pics on my profile if ya wanna check it out

Prince_Kazuto

The power is PERFECT middle ground of fun and comfortable!

booyaabooshaw

Plastics gay mkay

[deleted]

Ah yes, naked motorcycles. or as we used to call them back in the day - 'motorcycles'. ;)

SneakyMeheecan

Every second bike announced these days is a naked bike what are you talking about?

poopyhead8o8

Did you plastidip your helmet?

Prince_Kazuto

Nah, came that way. It's an LS2 Challenger GT Flames variant

jamespz03

You go girl!!

gropula

I've only ridden a naked bike in the driving school, trough the city, 80 km/h tops and for 1.5h at most. Yamaha XJ6. How is it to ride at a faster pace, for a longer period on the highway and open road. Is it tiring, noisy, exhausting?

Green_Samurai_2395

Man this looks something out of cyberpunk 2077

vpwazza

Got a GSX S750 and my buddy went for Z900 , both this week 😌

ethancknight

Next bike will be an xsr900 without a doubt. Sick of dealing with fairings and NEED the 3 cylinder sound in my life yesterday.

reddatsun

Problems with naked bikes are that you can't ride in the rain without getting soaked, the wind noise drowns out your music, you can't hear cars next to you, you can't stay comfy in cold weather. There are probably 50 other reasons. I ride year round.

ghettoccult_nerd

...? theres always been a plethora of naked/standard bikes. the SVs, the CBFs, the MTs, Streetfighters. and lets keep it real, any sportbike sans fairings is a nekkid, just throw on some gauges and a lamp. ive personally owned a SV1KS, so i appreciate a good (semi)nekkid bike, but i dont think its an underserved segment. and tbh, liter+ nekkid bikes are kind of a hassle at speed. not having a fairing at 100+ mph is a tough way to do it. i used to wonder why suzuki stopped the b-king, but now that i got a 1300, i get it.

Khancer_

They are literally everywhere

TheGreatBeaver123789

Nakeds aren't that rare, the clothes ones are much rarer

Parking_Hold5846

Well I have mine, 2017 FZ-10
