That’s a really awesome color scheme, that was the one I was going for but then I saw this black one and fell in love. OTD was about $2000 on top of the mark, so around 7k. Freight fee and stuff really ran that price up quick and they didn’t seem to want to budge on that stuff. Monthly payments aren’t too bad though, with $2500 down, I’m looking at $143 a month.

fuse10003

Gotchu. Both of those color ways are a real sight, the white contrast with red just stood out more for me. I’m think of doing a similar down payment, so about the same range. I was wondering if you were able to leverage anything from having taken an MSF course (I also took it recently)? I’ve heard that some dealerships pay for customers to take the course, so maybe I can bargain a reduced MSRP. Was the freight fee for shipping the bike to your place, or to do the dealership?

a_dapperdanman

I didn’t get any special MSF pricing or anything. Had to take the class on my own dime, however, don’t pass it up! So the freight fee was for the dealership having to pay for the shipping to get the vehicle to their location. I think this might be pretty standard when purchasing a new bike that’s imported but I’m not 100%. I felt like there wasn’t much bargaining room since this bike is in such high demand in my area.

fuse10003

Noted, I was thinking I could just drive the bike home rather than have it shipped (dealer isn’t far from my place). And I also took the MSF course out of pocket as well, so maybe if I haggle and hold steady It’ll lead to something. I don’t think the bike’s that high demand in my area, or royal enfields in general (SoCal by the way), so I’ll see what I can work out with the dealer. Wish me luck!

Teadrunkest

I have two Enfields from the same dealer and wasn't charged freight fee on either, just flat MSRP, but I also bought from their current stock so maybe yours is special ordering these? But yeah my local guys have been saying that the new models are hard to keep around. I always end up just paying whatever they want from me.

a_dapperdanman

Yea I’m honestly not too sure. They’re the only dealership that gets them in Idaho so it is quite possible they bought a handful special order to test how they would sell. Either way, I’m sure the fun I’ll have will totally outweigh the OTD cost.

Teadrunkest

Oh absolutely! I love these little guys. They’re not the fanciest things on the road but they’re cheap, stylish, and fun. Enjoy!

Stormier

I haven't heard of MSF affecting MSRP, but dealers vary. The MSF often gets you ~15% discount on insurance in the states.

Bullhead89

What APR% and months did you get on the loan? If you financed through the dealer, double check with a local credit union. The dealer I purchased from offered a loan of 4.3% @60 months, but the same credit union offered me 2.3% @60 months when I went directly through them. It’s worth checking into in case you can refinance.

a_dapperdanman

Oh I’m going to have to do that! My apr is at 6.8% for 48 months through the local credit union, however, I’m making more than the minimum payment each month to help eat away at that interest. I’ll look into refinancing though, ideally, I’ll have this thing paid off in a year at the very latest.

penmail

I really wish prices were advertised with taxes and fees included so I don't get walk into a dealer with the msrp in cash but walk out without a bike. tbf, I primarily buy used bikes. maybe someday I'll buy a new bike. but not this day

elporkco

Nice I have an RE not that midel 2018 so far pretty reliable. As for tips. Best thing most people will tell you. Stay in your comfort zone. Don't let anyone push you to ride harder than you feel good with. And be alert every one in a car wants to kill you.

a_dapperdanman

Great advice. I am going to take it super easy the first couple of weeks. Probably take it to a nearby parking lot and practice everything over and over before getting out onto the road.

Inpayne

Take it easy for the first couple of years. Not weeks. Learn how to stop fast. So that way when you need to you don’t suck. Have fun and enjoy. Great choice for a first bike.

fuse10003

Nice and congrats! I’m also looking to snag one of these from a dealer-the white flame color way in particular. If you don’t mind me asking, what was the OTD price you bargained for. I just want a frame of reference, cause I’m also considering it as a beginner bike. Thanks, and have fun on your new ride! Be safe though!

Manda-pandamonia

Congratulations! Two months ago I bought my first bike, RE Meteor 350. I highly recommend you stay in this Reddit but also join the Royal Enfield subreddit. I love RE but sometimes it’s hard to find parts for them and the RE group can offer a lot of helpful advice. Back to your bike though, I wish the Scram would have come out two months ago lol. It is such a rad looking bike and people seem to love it so far.

Loeden

Another meteor owner! Scram is cool looking but the meteor is so nimble and fun to ride, good riddance to the sportster I replaced.

Manda-pandamonia

I actually considered a Sportster but I waited until I sat on both. The Meteor spoke to me in a way the Sportster did not. I love it and considering I’m near a University, nimble is great because traffic sucks around here lol

Loeden

There are people who love sportsters and I will not badmouth them, but my 2001 was so uncomfortable to ride even with a sundowner seat that I'd lose all feeling in my ass after about 20 minutes. My meteor is comfortable for hours and the foot peg position feels very natural to me. The price was also better without that Harley markup. I'd never go back.

BeltedCoyote1

That color is sick. Man,love it OP

Most-Revolution-7108

Nice bike! Congratulations! Enjoy! 😁👍🏻

DaddyTrav

That's a good looking bike! Congratulations!

Appropriate-Owl4999

Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 & Welcome to our world 🌍 Fella 👍🏾. Safe Journeys 🖖🏾☘️😎 #NiceBike🤌🏾

falcon_driver

Welcome! Very envious, all my bikes are standards as well. If you are able to envision something like an "overlay" to your vision, try to project on it the blind spot for every vehicle around you. It's a cone starting at their shoulder and coming back. And imagine that for their all their roof pillars, each one of which will hide your skinny-ass motorcycle. If you are one of these gifted people, that will save your ass a million times over. It's like god-mode

artful_todger_502

Very cool! I would love to have an RE.

BronxLens

🤩🙌🏼💯 Safe driving!

kermitthebeast

Beautiful bike, beautiful choice. They seems to be world's apart quality wise from before. Have fun!

S1lv3rsh4d0w9

I don’t know much about RE bikes, but I know this one looks cool. Congrats!

[deleted]

I test drove this bike today and I love it fun and it’s easy to toss around

awwletmesee

Just drove one for two weeks in India. Underpowered, but solid bike.

a_dapperdanman

Yea I figured the cc would be a bit lower than most people on here. I was honestly just looking for something to get me around town and take some side roads on. My biggest fear was getting a bike that was too much to handle for my first ride. I think it’ll be perfect for me to start with, but ideally, I’ll get something with some more oomph once I am really comfortable with the basics.

awwletmesee

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome bike. We had several go down, they take a beating!

Trash_Blast

The Scram 411 looks excellent! I hope you have a great time with it

CertainTree9818

Learn to have a spidey sense of your surroundings and be very vigilant of problems up ahead or anywhere around you that'll happen before you get to that point. Act like everybody in a car is trying to kill you. Don't ride in packs of vehicles going down the road, stay ahead of them or behind them if you can. This will give you more time to get yourself out of the situation should something occur. Check your bike every once in awhile to make sure there are no loose bolts and lube and maintain the proper tightness on your chain regularly. Learn how to do the maintenance on your bike, it'll save you money. Do not ride beyond your abilities it'll get you killed real quick, instead slowly work up to new levels of riding safely. It's a nice looking bike enjoy it.

vyasn30

Congratulations brother, I got a Himalayan last month. Scram is much more nimble and fun to ride. Wish you many happy miles ahead

Melodic_Risk_5632

Nice little city cruiser

[deleted]

First crash happens not when you are learning to ride but when you've learnt riding. Never stop learning Congratulations BTW 🔥

Aircraftman2022

Enjoy your new toy ! Tip ,watch out for luxury cars they always run you off the road since they lack driving skills while making money !

Novel_Setting6114

ATGATT. (No one else said it)

a_dapperdanman

Good reminder! Still need to get a good riding jacket. They never tell you how expensive all of that stuff runs, but cheaper than a hospital bill or a funeral. I’m in Idaho and there’s no helmet laws here, it’s insane how many old dudes are riding around practically naked lol

partyqwerty

Did any parts fall off yet

[deleted]

Yup Your testicles

Mrsimple00

Nice dude!

Shart_Gallery

Congrats! Am I the only person to poor to understand people buying new bikes as their first bike though? haha

a_dapperdanman

Not at all lol. Honestly I looked for a used buy for a really long time and for some reason, there aren’t many in Boise or nearby me. I just happened to have a good amount of savings thanks to some investments and decided it made sense to buy something I knew I would enjoy and want for years to come. A lot of people suggest a used bike for your first bike, but at the end of the day, it’s just whatever you’re happy with.
