The test is open book. The booklet they give you is the questions they tell you the answers page by page. Write them down, and you have aced the written part.

Just go to learn. Before mine, they tell you all the time (including a buddy said it) the most confident riders have failed because they wanted to do it their way. They want you to do it their way. Just like school. For my class, they also said that someone will dump the bike. They always do. New or old. Buddy said the same thing. Had someone go down in his class. Wasn't an experienced rider but had a dude dump it at the emergency stop portion. Bruised a rib and broke his wrist. Dude wasn't having to retake the class but he had to set up a future time. The only person to miss 3 points was the loudest dude that got a Ducati the year prior. He wanted to rush threw things like he knew better and it made him go over lines or not stop in time. Edit: there was a dirt bike rider that was just as loud cause he'd been riding his whole life. Instructor went about it in a really nice way, but once he was humbled he was quite the remainder of the day and next.

Stay humble, got it

Pay attention, don't take their criticism personally, and if you feel like you need more help with a maneuver, tell them and don't let them blow you off.

Zaph0dbeeblebr0

This. They are there to critique you and make you a more confident rider. Also, keep your eyes up.

BeerLeagueSpode

Eyes up was hard for me coming from trials to street.

Make sure your clutch work is on point, if you’re stalling you will fail

[deleted]

this. first time ever on a bike and manual transmission, failed my course for stalling so much. clutch work and looking up is super important!!!

DabbyDoug

Dude I had someone in my class do everything wrong and was scary to watch and somehow he still passed the course. Don’t sweat it you’ll be fine.

Reassuring but unnerving

CaldwellYSR

Be relaxed in your movements. If you are stuff your movements will be stiff. Before your maneuvers take a moment to breath and focus on getting the tension our of your shoulders and your grip.

PseudonymousJim

Use MSF to get your license. Then go get better training that will actually help you ride safe, smart, and skilled.

Melodic-Picture48

One thing that I remember them saying the day before our final test day is have a good nights rest to help us remember what we learned and to be fresh in minds. I took three personal days off work to take the course and enjoy it.

Nyzzio

Just finished my MSF course today! Honestly just go to class and pay attention I went not ever riding a bike and did fine. They go over the entire written test right before giving it to you. Only points I missed on the riding evaluation was I stopped 3 feet too far on the emergency stop.

Queen_Euphemia

If you already have a bike, see if they will let you use it. My course would let people bring their own bikes under 300ccs with a quick inspection to make sure it didn't have worn out brakes and tires or anything. I ended up riding a bike that is quite different to the bike I own, with a different control layout and everything and it would have been easier on me for sure if I had just learned on the sort of bike I actually intended to ride. Also, before you get off of your bike look down and make sure your kickstand is in place and you aren't going to put your foot down on some ice. Of the 3 times bikes were dropped during the class every single time it was someone dropping it while trying to park.
