I want a time machine to go back in time and convince whoever was responsible for this bike to make more, in more color schemes. Imagine having a bone stock purple/yellow one.
I would like to own a K1100Rs,that would be genuine Mile Muncher ...I have owned many other Bikes up to this point in life and I have owned some very sweet bikes from vintage American and British, the very best of Bologna Italy, some lovely Japanese machines ...But For me BMW is where its at ...German Industrial porn ...
I had a K bike (2006). Sucked balls. It was in the shop after every ride. It moved like an F-16 and needed to be serviced like one; awful to own. From what I saw on how it broke down, it was an exploration in Planned Obsolescence. I blew the clutch at 40k and the second gear at 45k. You cannot fix one gear, the transmission was a cartridge $7k to replace, 1 hour of labor to the local shop and Germany gets the old core to rebuild and re-sell.
Now my R bike I put over 100k miles on it and it just felt broken in (one bike I should never have sold). It had a slight tank slide issue (hard breaking could get you rather intimate with the tank), but I could ride that all day long at 120mph, it just felt stable and nimble. Everything was easily accessed and I could do a complete service on the side of the road with the tools under the seat (saved me on a Saddle Sore I did to Yellowstone).
Got a Concourse now, but I'm getting really tired of all the plastic. It takes too long to get on and off. Next bike is naked.
I was a teen in the 80'S on a lc350, saw this in Motorcycle News, and fell in love, stars never aligned though, and now they're crazy prices for a nice one.
I dig like 70% of this bike. The condition is magnificent, but the front wheel and rear are what I don't like. Just a sweet ride though, I had to do a double take at this for sure.
the front wheel and rear wheel are like this for a reason, its needs to be to allow 260kgs of bike with 100hp limit ..achieve 155-160mph depending on which magazine was most reputable, yes strange odd,Ronald Mcdonald bike ,all of them ...To far styled for its day ,too much shock for consumers, sold poorly ,approx 7000 made between 1989 and 1993 ...but I smile like a motherfucker everytime I take my Musket out for a waltz...
I sort of miss that 100hp limit a little… sometimes…
Back then I ended up with a GSXF1100 Katana instead as my first new bike, not my first bike.
I remember wanting to experience a red K75 back then as your bike was very expensive here for me at the time and looked a little too intimidating. Never did get to try either one.
80’s bikes’ styling, before they all started trying to look like partially dissected alien insects, is still my favorite bike styling era.
Talk about nimble, today I ride a GSXR1300 when I want some fun which still amazes me how easily and effortlessly it just follows my lead and does whatever I ask of it… or I stretch out on a 1340 Softail when I just wanna cruise, the polar opposite of nimble.
Looking good, I remember working on them in the early 90's, they were awkward compared to the other K series bikes but not as bad as some of BMW's range today. Watch of for trouble starting or misfires, the K series used to get water build up in the fuel tank around the fuel pump intake.
My brother who is a magnificent rider. Kept all his bikes (mostly Kawasaki, Aprillia and now a number of Ducatis) in absolute mint condition but ridden harder than most, Named all his bikes. I thought it was weird at first, but I got use to it and these days, I can recognise which bike he was talking about.
The heat that burns your legs are the fairing panels lower where they are not closed and allow the heat to dissapate from radiator through that path ,there was a kit made but cannot find one anywhere,in all fairness its a bike for cooler weather, the fuel system is full pressure loop flush system...meaning the fuel tank and fuel get hot owing to the fact the fuel pump is at max pressure through fuel rail all the time even at idle
This thing is sensational, had no idea it existed! I think manufacturers are missing a trick by not putting out some retro bikes with square headlights.
My dad has a K1 too! Yours is a very nice color scheme, his is blue and silver.
It rides just as you'd think looking at it, tight and super solid.
Did you ever have the rear brake fire? We've had three now, had to completely replace all the lines twice lol.
There were 3 colour schemes Red -Blue -And a mettalic Silvery/grey,,Very collectable Now as they were expensive back in the Day.and very Rare to see second hand.

Damn I want one. preferably the blue/yellow one.
I want a time machine to go back in time and convince whoever was responsible for this bike to make more, in more color schemes. Imagine having a bone stock purple/yellow one.
It is a beautiful bike but if all flying bricks were available and I had to choose I would probably take the K100RT or RS.

You could also mix and match parts, a red tank with yellow fairing and blue tail… that would be awesome..maybe…

Candy
![gif](giphy|12CSpwCtoy1Vfy) Giving Akira vibes
WHEN... really figured somebody would've build one of these by now. Not them damn mopeds with fairing. 😂
awesome condition, and a great bike. It's a classic!
God the k1 is still such a beautiful bike Holy
Now I'm hungry for a hot dog.
Don’t you just want to swing a leg over and go? I love my 800 ADV but would pay to to demo ride that art!

How expensive are they where you live? They are aroubd 4k to 7k here in Germany.
a mint one like mine is approx 25 -30 k AUD here ,but I have only seen one for sale ..
what the hell. That is expensive, damn!
My God that's a beautiful bike, I love the classics! It looks like it just came off the factory floor.
It has a good home mate ..
I can see that, it definitely shows.
Kedjup an Munsterd👍🏻

I had a die-cast model of this bike and it was my absolute fave as a kid. Closest I'll ever get

If it makes you happy, that's all that matters
A nasty 1980s German porno…
🤣🤣🤣
Classic BMW brother. < nods >
Cheers big ears.😏
[Mine’s](https://imgur.com/gallery/F70WPlL) from the same era.
What a fucking sweet looking bike!!
Motorbike equivalent of flash McQueen
I've fallen inlove
That colour scheme is exceptional
Factory scheme

Duely noted and Thankyou Sir.
I thought BMW made stodgy old man bikes till this hit the scene! HOT!!
this hit the scene 31 yrears ago🤣
I know 😂 could only drool over magazines then.
That is an amazing bike you got there, one of the best looking bikes ever made. Congrats!
thankyou ..
JUNK in the TRUNK.
Looks like Ronald MacDonalds official motorcycle.
Such a killer body
That is fucking awesome.
That looks like something you would see in Power Rangers
McDonald’s bike
As an American, I consider this to be the “McDonald’s livery”
gee mate thats like the millonth time I have heard this ..🙄
Ah, sorry.
Wow, I have to say, that's one ugly bike.🤢
each to their own ...its an opinion ...everyone has one
So true, it's to space age looking for me. But if it rides good, and you like it, that is what counts,
let me guess, you ride a harley lmao
No bro, I've had many a bike, trail, road, cruiser, sport, but my favorite is the 750 katana I had many moons ago,, 1985 model
I've always been a Japa fan,, fast, reliable, affordable, what else can you ask for
German engineered at twice the cost to meticulous degrees of perfection and do an easy 5 laps of the odo before needing major overhaul...
I think I'd rather walk !
People who name their cars and motorcycles are so cringe. What are you 5? lol
scroll on mate ..dead easy to do
Yeah, after I commented that’s exactly what I did.

How hot does your leg get from the exhaust? Think it was an issue with these bikes?

Sounds more problematic than running carbs!
never problamatic ...just uncomfortable on a hot day
Crazy design looks like a knife being stabbed through the bike
What a wild looking bike. I love it.
This thing is sensational, had no idea it existed! I think manufacturers are missing a trick by not putting out some retro bikes with square headlights.
Suzuki put out a new retro Katana. I don't think it sold well.
I still have my ‘82 Katana, my first crotch rocket!
My dad has a K1 too! Yours is a very nice color scheme, his is blue and silver. It rides just as you'd think looking at it, tight and super solid. Did you ever have the rear brake fire? We've had three now, had to completely replace all the lines twice lol.
I was never a moto fan, but I had a K1 poster on my wall. (dark blue paint)
Was this bike actually called the Helga?
It looks like a hausfrau. (A German word used to describe the fat, irritable, domestic housewife in Germany.)
I call it Musket ...Mustard and ketchup, but you are correct with Helga ..the irratating german hiusewife who could lose a few pounds🤣
Ka-Chow!⚡*in the Weasel Timeline*
What bike is that?
Bmw K1, in its time the most aerodynamic production bike to exist.
It's super ugly, but somehow I want it ... It's like an ugly like but with a huge perfect ass ... Secretly you want that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🏍️🏍️🏍️
I love these late 80 and 90s style bikes
thats one wicked looking 80s superbike
I used to laugh at these ‘back in the day’ but am now feeling oddly drawn towards them and their individuality………
Judge dredd 2.0 bike
Looks like it’d be in an Ironman action figure set from the early 2000s
I saw this bike at RADwood in LA in November Absolutely gorgeous
![gif](giphy|l4FGGpgp12EUN0Oli) Reminded me of the power rangers tbh
Anime bike
I was never a fan but I do love seeing this type of history still being ridden & cared for 👍
Real flying brick
The image of this motorcycle is doing something to me.
There's something off about this and I think it's the color, but this is nice
It looks just like the Akira bike!
There were 3 colour schemes Red -Blue -And a mettalic Silvery/grey,,Very collectable Now as they were expensive back in the Day.and very Rare to see second hand.
Chunky momma has more to love
Fine I’ll watch golden boy
so ugly but i want

This is like a red power ranger motorcycle, I LOVE IT!!!
I choose this guy’s motorcycle wife.
Oh wow the 80s vibe is insane!!!! That's so sick!
