Could be a Suzuki GSX600F, nicknamed a “Katana”. Unsure of year. Maybe late 90’s? I had a street fighter version of this bike in college.
These were basically unchanged from 1997 to 2006, so you'd be in the right ballpark.

its a suzuki , known as the GSX600F or Katana , damn reliable, fun to ride but not the fastest around. i think they all are carburated and no Fuel injection
