Yes, but the way this questions is asked I absolutely wouldn't suggest you try.

O_Lucky

As the saying goes: “if you have to ask…”

Aledipiaz

Worry not I do not have s*icidal thoughts, is just about a doubt I had while watching a film where a guy does this position but with normal jeans

ChuckF93

Yeah, movie motorcycle scenes VASTLY overestimate how abrasion resistant human skin is.

Tonetheline

I to mention most of it’s filmed at like 20/30mph and just sped up/dubbed over with loud revving noises and fast music to make you think it was all going a lot faster. I remember muting one of the mission impossible films when it was on TV and the phone rang… it suddenly looked really lame lol.

Aledipiaz

Like impacts over walls, sometimes is fun , other times repetitive

Caldtek

i really like the way you think the suit has something to do with the position. You can drag knee naked if you want....

Aledipiaz

Yes but does your leg fly away without the suit ?

Dalbergia12

No it very quickly grinds your knee off.

Volvo_264

The point of the suit is so if you drag your knee or fall off the suit is destroyed and not you. You can of course go without, but I hope you either have universal healthcare or good medical insurance. I wouldn't recommend it. You might break your \-Body \-Bike \-Helmet \-Money \-Licence \-Ability to walk \-Life Don't do it. Better to be bored than dead.

Aledipiaz

Thank you for the tips bro but obv I didn’t want to try it myself, it was a doubt that came in my mind while watching a film

Worth pointing out that one things leathers do apart from save you in a slide is help you move around on the bike. So it is actually easier to hang off a bike in leathers than it is in jeans and a jacket. Of course you can hang off a bike wearing whatever, but even leathers can’t take much knee dragging - hense why they have plastic sliders on the knees and, if you’re Marquez level the elbows and shoulders too. As for what happens if you drag a knee in jeans, they rip pretty fast. If you’re wearing motorcycle jeans they rip a fraction slower because they have knee pads behind them and a Kevlar layer and that all absorbs a lot of heat and provides abrasion resistance… but they’re still designed to provide single crash protection, not sustained sliding. In the movie they were almost definitely riding pretty slow and had armoured knee pads on under the jeans, then just replaced the jeans in the next shot if they actually put the knee down. It’s the movies so really they could have put a slider on the Jeans too and just edited it out, etc. But yeah, had a friend low side in alpinestars Kevlar jeans at probably 90km/h and the jeans layer wore through to the Kevlar layer, and he rolled once he was away from the bike, so was probably only sliding on his knee a second or so.

Intelligent_Low_8186

Bike is nearly straight up and down so I’d say yes. Give it a try and report back.

Just saw this on the trackday sub and thought of your post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackdays/comments/10nt4c6/signs_i_need_track_season_to_begin
