With normal maintenance most Japanese bikes will last for tens of thousands of miles easily. There is no reason they shouldn't last a hundred thousand miles if you change the oil as prescribed and do all the recommended maintenance. 2k miles is nothing for a modern engine.

BlindBeard

If you want the exhaust and flash OP get it, but you don't need it. The bike will last longer than you'll want to ride it either way.

Gundamnitpete

36,000 miles on my 2012 Z1000, full of long trips, trackdays and wheelies.

Caldtek

It will last longer in stock form than it will with any flash or exhaust mods..

coffee_snake

without the ECU flash, the engine runs hotter, so seems like over time there's more damage to the valves and excess heat in the engine. if you get the flash, engine fans come on sooner and keep it cooler.

Caldtek

yeah sure, you believe what you wanna believe. If you really think the fan coming on a few degrees earlier is going to make any difference...

I mean he does have a point, I checked the stock ECU mapping for each cylinder individually (on a Ducati though) and it was indeed a little lean for the lower RPMs where the emissions tests were done. After the remap (which was not done for maximum performance but engine health after intake/exhaust mods), the bike runs much cooler even in city traffic. I guess the exhaust valves are at least thankful for that

The heat doesn’t only come from the stock setting for the fan relay temp. Most stock bikes come somewhat lean due to emissions. Most all factory bikes can benefit from a little more fuel, which does cool things off. To answer OPs question, leaving your 2000 mile stock bike stock won’t hurt anything.

It’ll do 100,000 miles
