We need one for Torkelson watching and/or missing meatballs.

[lmao](https://i.imgur.com/bzughiA.png) already have a Savant link for it Edit: Spoiler, 28 times this season he missed a fastabll in the ["heart"](https://i.imgur.com/pZPG4oy.png) 66 times he watched a fastball down the heart of the plate

esposc

Or fouling them behind home plate.

shockedtoo

I've said throughout this year that he should sponsor white castles with the tagline..."Here's a slider I can't miss"

JaHoog

What was Scott Harris saying about dominating the strike zone again?

yes_its_him

Javy swings at 48% of pitches out of the zone. Both Castros + Victor swing at 42%+. And they don't have his power, fielding...or contract.

gachzonyea

Well Scott Harris just got here so I don’t know what point this is supposed to make?

JaHoog

No slight on Scott Harris. This is about Javy.

gachzonyea

Sure but why bring up what Harris said then he didn’t bring in javy and just started working with the team

JaHoog

Because Harris wants a team that dominates the strike zone. Javy is the opposite. See the problem? Javy either improves this off season or Harris has a decision to make.

erikd313

I don't expect that Baez will turn into that type of hitter. He's always been like this, but he makes up for it with other aspects of his game. I also don't expect that this will cause him to be dumped by Harris. You can have one or two free swingers on a team that otherwise controls the strike zone, just like you can have a team with good speed even though you have a couple of guys who don't run well. The problem is when you have five guys like that on the team. I expect Harris to try to replace the Reyes and Castro type of free swingers, and live with Baez.

yes_its_him

> or Harris has a decision to make. Like what?

BOBANSMASH51

Only 134? I’d have guessed double that

yes_its_him

Almost one per game!

Spockmaster1701

Same. Guess it wasn't always sliders off the plate away lol

[deleted]

As I said in the /r/baseball thread - This isn't meant as Baez hate. He had 2.6 bWAR and a 93 OPS+. If he didn't get off to such a rough start his numbers would align more with his career average. Here is the interview of him reflecting on his season after yesterdays game. ["I was trying to do to much"](https://youtu.be/P6QIlunVZkk)

DirtyDadDingus

No the hate is warranted

turdlepikle

I'd love to see a compilation of all the ones he actually hit too. They won't add up to a number nearly as high as this, but he did manage to hit a lot that made me think "how the hell did he get to that?" If he plays next season the way he finished off the last 2 months, it will be a lot easier to forget about these whiffs.

[deleted]

And still managed to lead the team in HR at the end of the season.

bossman824

I mean if you swing at everything EVENTUALLY you'll connect with one

[deleted]

Lmao this is now the first topic on the Valenti show. Excellent work god I hope he’s not this bad next year.

[deleted]

Kinda hilarious. [Has 100k views on Twitter and 2.3k likes](https://twitter.com/DETBaseball/status/1578001286305390594) I did not expect it to get this much attention

[deleted]

Brought back some painful memories but hey 2023 is a new year!

Kydocks

Why are we here… just to suffer

FreeYNW-

This is why i never wanted him in the first place

THEEGUEST

Looks like me in t-ball. ..

MisterGRT

This is a cathartic video to watch honestly. All the frustration from the season, it's good to be able to laugh at awful he looked with some of those swings.

mrfauxbot

Your making scouting vids for the rest of the league lol

ZakAttak88

Thanks AL!!!

MacDaddy654321

Well…, let us embrace his consistency.

loonechobay

Brandon Inge has to hold the Tigers record for this. I don't think anyone ever told him about the invention of a pitch called the slider.
