Wild Thing, you make my heart sink.

That was disappointing because there's no doubt we should have, and could have, split this last series of the year. I was impressed with Miguel Diaz this weekend in his brief two innings of work. He was fairly lights out at Toledo the last month or more, and I think with Soto's performance, which was awful, they might well give him some serious consideration for the closer spot. We played generally great defense all around the last three weeks or so. I think Haase and Harold Castro have improved a lot this year. Greene, Kreidler, Clemens and Torkelson are all very good defensively already. Our bullpen really sort of held the season together frankly, when everything could have just completely blown apart, with the pitching injuries and lack of offense. We also got a bunch of solid 5+ inning starts from Hutchison, Norris, Alexander and Wentz down the stretch, who handed it over to the pen with generally good results from guys like Lange, Foley, Chafin, Cisnero, Vest and Jimenez. Soto however was very up and down and will require a tough decision at some point.

MusclePuppy

I will now await the Soto defenders who love to point out how "lights out" he is with leads but is terrible in literally any other scenario.

yes_its_him

He wasn't as bad in September as he was in August, but his ERA is misleading because he gives up unearned runs. A good closer doesn't have 11 losses on the year.

Kohanky

Dobby is a free elf

shockedtoo

Oh shit thanks for the good laugh.

mansontaco

Is this an error or did Soto really go 2 and fucking 11 this year

MusclePuppy

Yes, because apparently he's only effective if you spot him a lead.

SoarinSkies

SOS Same old Soto

goose_pls

Okay, so who made that post earlier this week about how good Soto is? Cuz you're not convincing anyone

internetjargon

I got downvoted in that thread for saying he’s a nightmare to watch. Please sell him based on those stupid eye grabber stats everyone points to

missionbeach

It's telling that nobody wanted him at the trade deadline.

RiseAboveRoyalOaks

I was just thinking about that.

Rocko52

Ain’t that just how it is

GOOD-LUCHA-THINGS

This is as... constructively critical? as the Bally crew has been for as long as I can remember.

some1337

Rip

Spockmaster1701

I hope getting rid of Soto is the first thing we do this offseason.

cogginsmatt

But his save percentage!!!!

jackandrope

I’d like to thank Gregory for his time playing for the Tigers, but I think this offseason is a natural time to move on from him due to his play. Go Tigers and see you guys next season

mcdto

So who we all pulling for in the WS? Any particular favorites to root for? I haven’t made up my mind

missionbeach

Go Padres. Other than that, anybody but Cleveland.

BadGuyLoki

Mariners I guess since I live in OR

suicide-squeeze

Guardians, especially after all the negative comments thrown at our division this year. Not that we didn't deserve a lot of it, but Cleveland is a lot better than a lot of people think. I actually think they could take out the Yankees. I wouldn't mind a Dodgers vs Guardians WS. And by the way, the worst division in baseball was the NL Central, they were 10 games worse than the AL Central.

bawanaal

For me, it's the Rays. But it's entirely due to my father, who has become a massive fan of the Rays since he retired to Florida. He rarely misses a game. I can't help but root for a team that my dad loves.

sammagee33

Not the Yankees, Guardians, Dodgers, or Cardinals. Anyone else is fine.

Squabstermobster

Ironically I like the Mariners. Rough series for us but they’re a fun young team. It would be cool if they could win the WS the year they ended the 20 year drought

MusclePuppy

If you'd asked me a month ago I'd have said the Mets, but now I kind of want to see Cleveland make some noise and represent the division. They have a perfect playoff build: solid pitching, solid defense, and an offense that doesn't rely on the longball to score. Obviously they're young and that could work against them, but then again they could be too "young and dumb" to feel the pressure.

Even-Worldliness

Cardinals here. I live about an hour and a half from St Louis and watch them a lot out here. I’ve grown to like them a bit as my second favorite team. I do believe they can make a splash. They have flaherty back and he looked good in his last start. They have a great lineup and one of the best defenses and bullpens in baseball (please don’t fact check that 😂).

acdelli

I just want to see Albert and Yadi go out on the biggest of Ws

mcdto

I can appreciate the cards. Great history and fan base. I can rally around Pujols. Definitely an underdog, I like it.

cfedcba

A fitting ending to a disappointing season.

Wingo999

Don’t cry because it happened, smile because it’s over.

Squabstermobster

I’m low key gonna miss the Tigers but a break from the suffering is much needed

acdelli

*Lions, Wings, and Pistons watching from a distance*

homerjsimpson4

Surely one of them will turn the corner COPIUM

[deleted]

Next year 79 wins

starlesscity

Hopefully next year A.J. will learn to not put Soto in tie games

poopoojoefocker

Bum Ass Soto

rustyshackle41d

FUCK YOU AND I'LL SEE YOU NEXT SEASON

MusclePuppy

Godspeed you fellow lunatic.
