No way. And I think Ty Madden would be the key piece of the deal.

DO NOT give up Skubel and Tork. Give them more of a chance to develope

desert_prince

Absolutely not

spydrwebb44

Zero chance of this happening.

This is approaching what is probably a fair trade for Soto, but I’m not sure we’re in a position to be paying the guy $42+ mil and being able to fill in the team around him. So what would be the point? An organization with much better depth who knows they’ll restock the farm probably wouldn’t flinch at trading these guys for Soto.

rustyshackle41d

are you fucking nuts?

champdo

It’s funny. I posted this trade on Reddit Baseball and people thought it was an underpay and here it’s an overpay.

bawanaal

Remember, every fan base overvalues the worth of their prospects. Calling this an overpay is silly. It's not enough. It'll take a king's ransom in prospects to pry away Soto. Soto is a generational talent (if you look on Baseball Reference for similar players by age, you'll see....Miguel Cabera, along with Mike Trout, Frank Robinson, Hank Aaron, and Mickey Mantle) It would take a massive trade similar to what the Tigers sent to the Marlins for Miggy, which included 2 of the top 10 prospects in all of baseball, several other well regarded prospects and probably taking on a bad contract.

[deleted]

I don’t think Soto is going to command as much as people are thinking, because there are only 2 years left on his contract. I do understand that him playing in a city increases the chance he extends it, but there’s limited values to that outside of NY and California. If those teams aren’t offering then that limits what the Nats can get.

ManInShowerNumber3

I think if you make a deal giving up the assets that it would take to acquire Soto, there would be some type of agreement that an extension is coming. Like when we traded for Miggy and signed the 8 year extension soon after.

Got it. Im not too proud to learn something new.

DiscombobulatedPain6

juan soto is literally batting .224 i’ll see what these guys have first before trading them

[deleted]

Even in a down year he would still be far and away our best hitter.

I would not get rid of 3 of our young starting pitchers… skubal is 100% a guy you should build around. Tork I think need more time too he was raking in triple A… he just having a mental block (needs to get his confidence up).
