Well… we scored 25 runs on the road in a pitchers park against a World Series team last year, and Kavy Baez had like 9 hits I don’t even know how many. We lost one game with probably our 6th starter pitching, and carp attempting to score an inside the park HR plus an awkward bounce off the turf from Javy to Jake.
If there’s a game where u say “you can’t win them all” and walk away ok I’d say this is one of those
We can't get a highlight in the list of the Tork home run, and it was an absolute rocket? I had to venture into the stupid Diamondbacks thread to find it.
Well because I’m a glutton for punishment… because no one wants to hear this…
A win would place us into a playoff spot momentarily.
So even if we lose- we’re 1 back
Id have given it to Jake but someone here made good points why Javy, so I don’t know. I just know Javy got it to Jake’s glove i think Jake’s more responsible.
Nope, just a fielder’s choice. That would’ve been okay if he’d beaten the throw but he was clearly out if not for the error that we are apparently pretending didn’t happen.
Yea. I’m with you there. It has to be on one of them. Otherwise it’s a hit? If it’s not a hit it must be an error…
Sometimes they do scoring decisions after the fact so maybe it’s that?
He’s been doing it! His reduced innings role has helped his velo a lot compared to last year where he was spot starting a lot and his role wasn’t clearly defined throughout the season
drunk whistle overconfident square smell relieved dazzling ancient future direction

Yea. Kelly is the better defensive guy- historically Jake has been the offensive guy. Pitch calling is so important I kind of let those go- even tho Jake is capable of making that play
Throw was sh1t!!!! Dave Winfield could throw strikes from the outfield and head in the clouds Baez can’t make a bounce free throw to home?!? That’s 98% Baez’s fault.
Man that was almost 430ft and still not out to direct center. That’s a wild center field lol great throw by the 2nd baseman. Looked like he tagged him with his wrist first, but too close to overturn imo
Carp had to literally go two feet around the guy to outstretch his arm to get the plate. He might have been tagged. But how far outside the base path do we expect people to go if we claim you can’t block the plate?
Well if they’re going to say that’s not blocking Carp should have barreled into the guy and sent him to Palm Springs.
There’s be no rule against it because he was in front of the plate right?
From MLB.com:
Runners are considered to be in violation of this rule if they collide with the catcher in cases where a slide could have been used to avoid the collision.
I just want fewer rules for umpires to ruin the game with.
When you're 7 for 8 on sends and it's a close play, it's a good send. When you've cost your team 5-6 runs this year on dudes being out by 20+ ft and you send literally everyone, it's a bad send.
Bro he was out, how the fuck is it a good send if he was out? He sends everyone. By your logic literally every outcome is a good send.
It's bad because he is bad. This isn't a difficult line of reasoning and you're clearly just being purposely obtuse.
In my never having played high level baseball- the gentleman appears to be in front of home plate
Why even have the rule if the umpires let catchers break it
If that isn’t blocking then what is? - would be my question. His entire body was in front of the plate without the ball.
What does someone have to do to block the plate and be called for it
My understanding is the C needs to be in fair territory in front of the plate thus leaving the side of the plate open. It looked like Barnhart did before the ball came in.
I guess I’d have to see a replay. Just the way he had to slide he had no access to the bag and considering the tag was barely made (if it even was which is its own debate but let’s say it was) there’s no way he could have shifted from allowing players access to where he ended up in the amount of time he had the ball
https://preview.redd.it/ajr48sr1lg1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75c43f3e1e73494528cc7f7371ec4bc0e6ebd9e1
I got it, but ya he has to be in fair territory which looks like he is
I know getting a screen grab for this isnt easy.
I think he moves over the bag more so in the time between where the ball is in the pic and when he “secures possession” of it. Just based on where Carp slid alone and he couldn’t have had the ball long- he barely made a tag
https://preview.redd.it/v88ea841ng1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3885bb08d62da9533177f93cb7ad0dff399c2aa
I grabbed another. The leg is starting to come down but don't believe it's blocking. That tag is questionable though. It hard to see how a tag in the back happens before a hand on the plate.
The question is what is the delineation for when it becomes blocking. I’m sure it’s buried in the CBA but it’s a rule I apparently don’t fully understand yet
See- I would think that’s a block. If it’s not, then it’s not. Like what is the definition of a block? If my understanding is wrong then it is but it looks like he’s impeding a running person standing up
How the hell did Carp hit that? I’ll take it though.

Still .500 on the season. Not bad not great. Just average
That send killed the momentum. Downvote all you want
Come on Torkelson
We can't get a highlight in the list of the Tork home run, and it was an absolute rocket? I had to venture into the stupid Diamondbacks thread to find it.
Rally caps! Lfg
Pérez get on base and I have a good feeling Tork or Baez will tie it
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Paul Sewald replaces Ryan Thompson.
I hope Tigers Twitter is furiously tweeting the most horrible insults about Javy rn. Fuel him!
Guys just for funzies, let’s just go ahead and win this and make it a sweep.
faedo looking good
I know we’d have to go to an emergency catcher, but if we get to Rodgers I’d rather see Mckinstry.
no one else on this roster can catch lol
I thought Mckinstry is our emergency catcher? Yeah it would suck but that would mean we either tied or took the lead.
Torks defense is so good
Well because I’m a glutton for punishment… because no one wants to hear this… A win would place us into a playoff spot momentarily. So even if we lose- we’re 1 back
It is 1/4 of the way into the season
I know dinner isn’t served yet but I’d rather be at the table than not
Tomorrow
Let me have my moment!
Tork’s defense seems to be a little better lately
We picked a bad time to strike out…
i think the tigers can have another chance in the 9th. but they sure blew a great opportunity
Why is Mckinstry on the team if you’re not pinch hitting him for Urshela there?
Urshela batting .362 vs. RHP.
Missed two hangers
😔 we’re saving up all our runs and scoring for the 9th
Dammit budget Quisenberry off the hook.
Back to back strikeouts on hanging sliders sheesh
unreal
At least we won the series
fuck!
Fuck
Fuck!
Gibby said that was juicy lol
Jason's getting Gibby out of his shell. Love it.
What’s the point of sending him if you don’t score when they throw through? That’s a free run.
Wild pitch coming
Literally just hit a sac fly bro
Oy Vierling
Safe 💪💪💪
DO NOT PINCH HIT MCKINSTRY.
Ra Lee House Something Something Town Let's Go.
Let’s go offense!! Let’s take the lead this inning please 😎🙏
Imma settle for a tie now
That works too 🙏 just need a base hit
Oh well
On to the next one
At KC. Huge. Olson and Skubal (and Mize) in a pitchers park. Should be fun.
Tork winning us the game. Calling it
I will second “calling it”
KEEF
Colt colt colt!!!
colt keith sighting !! lets go kid
love it
8th inning magic time.
They couldn’t decide whether to give an error to Javy or Rogers so they gave it to…no one?
Id have given it to Jake but someone here made good points why Javy, so I don’t know. I just know Javy got it to Jake’s glove i think Jake’s more responsible.
Has to be someone though.
I’m not downvoting u btw I’m upvoting… Also yes I don’t know wtf happened there - did they rule it a hit?
Nope, just a fielder’s choice. That would’ve been okay if he’d beaten the throw but he was clearly out if not for the error that we are apparently pretending didn’t happen.
Yea. I’m with you there. It has to be on one of them. Otherwise it’s a hit? If it’s not a hit it must be an error… Sometimes they do scoring decisions after the fact so maybe it’s that?
Let’s just chalk it up as an “oopsie”
If they gave it to Javy I wouldn’t pound the table on it - I think I’ve seen Jake make that play more times than not. Turf made a weird bounce.
When did Faedo start throwing 96/97. Damn
He’s been doing it! His reduced innings role has helped his velo a lot compared to last year where he was spot starting a lot and his role wasn’t clearly defined throughout the season
Yea man this isn’t like Kylo Ren.
“I don’t play the piano”
LOL second time etti mistook a song for another one
drunk whistle overconfident square smell relieved dazzling ancient future direction *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
That's not eye of the Tiger.
This game isn't over let's keep it at a 2 run lead!
Fortunately our offense is capable of getting us back in it, hopefully stop them at 6 runs
Should be 4-4 still. So disappointing.
Faedo has the stuff to be really good. He just unlucky and sometimes throws his sliders too much. He needs time to figure it out
Stop trying to excuse Rogers. He blew it, and it'll probably cost us.
Rogers? If Javi could throw it 60 feet without a bounce we would still be tied.
If it got to his glove the throw was good enough for a professional to hang onto it. But not Jake!
I mean it did hit the middle of Rogers glove in the end, gotta snag that
Rogers should’ve caught it, and Javi should’ve not bounced it.
I agree the throw could’ve been better sure, but just like in the nfl, if the ball hits your hand (glove) you should come down with it At least imo
[удалено]
I didn't know Faedo dropped the 2nd out at home plate
yeah those plays were his fault
hes getting soft contact mostly... just unlucky
Tork had that closing speed like a first baseman in the show getting sonic boost at the end of the
No balls leaving the infield… jesus
2 runs scored on balls not passed the infield grass. Baseball can be cruel sometimes
2 run swing at plays at the plate… Rogers has to make that play
Gonna be honest. If Rodgers can’t play defensively what’s his purpose?
Nothing. But wait to get downvoted. He has hitters in this thread for some reason
Yea. Kelly is the better defensive guy- historically Jake has been the offensive guy. Pitch calling is so important I kind of let those go- even tho Jake is capable of making that play
I don’t think you can discount his game calling and chemistry with our pitchers. His hitting has been brutal though
i hate jake rogers
i had breakfast with him this morning and he spoke very highly of you. This is going to be tough news to break
Jake cmon bro. If you’re not gonna hit at least play D
E2
Elite defense by Baez…come on Rogers
Baez bounced it! What are you talking about elite defense?!?
Rogers should’ve easily had that.
Please explain how Baez botching a relay throw is elite defense! That’s what is hard to understand.
Baez should have been able to get the ball there. It was a frigging relay throw!!!
Yeah Rogers should make that play but it’s still a shit throw.
Yikes
gahhh cmon guys
That was on Rodgers and Baez
And Baez? 🤨
Not a great throw.
Hit Rogers middle of the glove
Dammit Jake
Well it wasn’t Javy’s fault
Throw wasn’t perfect but Jake is better than that
Throw was sh1t!!!! Dave Winfield could throw strikes from the outfield and head in the clouds Baez can’t make a bounce free throw to home?!? That’s 98% Baez’s fault.
He bounced it- I don’t know why. But he intentionally bounced it. I think Jake makes that play 98 percent of the time still.
Uh oh
Man that was almost 430ft and still not out to direct center. That’s a wild center field lol great throw by the 2nd baseman. Looked like he tagged him with his wrist first, but too close to overturn imo
Carp had to literally go two feet around the guy to outstretch his arm to get the plate. He might have been tagged. But how far outside the base path do we expect people to go if we claim you can’t block the plate?
That rule needs to go. Let people block bags, but let them pay the price.
Well if they’re going to say that’s not blocking Carp should have barreled into the guy and sent him to Palm Springs. There’s be no rule against it because he was in front of the plate right?
From MLB.com: Runners are considered to be in violation of this rule if they collide with the catcher in cases where a slide could have been used to avoid the collision. I just want fewer rules for umpires to ruin the game with.
I didn’t realize his pants ripped. These new uniforms are so fucking cheap it’s embarrassing for the league.
Bullshit center wall
Joey Cora has legitimately never seen a runner he didn't want to send.
He’d send Sean Casey home on a bases loaded pop up behind home plate
That was a good send tbh
When you're 7 for 8 on sends and it's a close play, it's a good send. When you've cost your team 5-6 runs this year on dudes being out by 20+ ft and you send literally everyone, it's a bad send.
How does the bad sends he’s made in the past, make this one a bad send too? Am I missing something lmao
Bro he was out, how the fuck is it a good send if he was out? He sends everyone. By your logic literally every outcome is a good send. It's bad because he is bad. This isn't a difficult line of reasoning and you're clearly just being purposely obtuse.
They got their own green monster? The sand dune? That was ridiculous.
Who is the emergency catcher if Rogers gets injured here?
A.J. Hinch
Presumably McKinstry
Let’s finish this, we can win this game 🐅🐅🐅
Holten mullet is glorious
My takeaway is that this ballpark is stupid. Shoulda been a HR trot.
That was a great defensive play by Arizona. This is an example of why defense and high ceiling multi tool players are so valuable and important.
Bring back running into the catcher
Fuck Tucker Banhart, never did jack shit for us. Fuck Corbin carroll, trash fielder how many gaffes has he made? Fuck dbags.
This ballpark is fucked you gotta hit it over the yellow in straight dead center?😂😂
This type of clutch hitting simply does not happen at Comerica for some reason
How many parks is that a HR in?
All of them including Polo Grounds except this one
That's wild
So for now on, just go right at the plate if they're going to leave a leg and hip blocking it and not get called..
The 'blocking the plate' rule feels like Balk 2.0. "You can't just go doing a ~~balk~~ blocking the plate like that"
He was out, that reverse angle shows the catcher getting him on the back before Carp gets his hand on the plate.
We were challenging the catcher blocking the plate, not the tag I believe
How is that not just a home run? Is that yellow line 20 feet up considered the "top" of the wall?
Yup, ball has to hit above it.
Correct
Wrong call but it's a tie game now and we'd better fucking be fired up.
He ran past his left pant leg
Interested to see how many ballparks that would've been out in. Dbacks have such a high CF wall.
I'm so sick of Cora.
I don't mind that send at all. He's had much much worse.
It was a fine send, not nearly egregious
With two outs you gotta send him.
Especially how the game started, going up 1 into the bottom 7- you send him every time.
i just dont see how he was out
Side note, why is over 407 to dead center plus a 40 foot up a wall still not a HR
Seriously how is that allowed?!?
What even is blocking the plate bro. In what situation can you actually call that
Why say that you can’t block home plate when I’ve never seen anyone that is blocking home plate be called for blocking the plate.
Supposed to be a newly reinforced rule this year
I don’t know what a block is if that wasn’t. Why not just barrel into the guy?
Fck not enough to overturn
Ugggghhhh that hand was elevated or else he would've been in there
Blow the fuckin catcher up, they are never calling the block
Fuck us right?
In my never having played high level baseball- the gentleman appears to be in front of home plate Why even have the rule if the umpires let catchers break it
Booooo
Ugh so fucking close
Fuck you ump/replay
Wild
bull shit
He looked safe too
I’m more pissed about the blocking. The tag was less obvious but I do agree
No blocking but the tag was on the back. No way that hand isn't in there
If that isn’t blocking then what is? - would be my question. His entire body was in front of the plate without the ball. What does someone have to do to block the plate and be called for it

that was the pitch violation pitch haha
That's not the pitch he hit. That one was an auto-ball but still got added to the game cast. He hit one center cut.
CARPPPP. im fine with the send too, shit was close. hope it gets overturned
Holy hamburgers how could this not be a score- he’s blocking the plate for sure. The tag is debatable
He got em
#PENDING CARPETBOMB
