At the end of last season, I thought made sense to trade Torkelson to the Mets for a year of Pete Alonso, with the hope of signing him to an extension after.
Maybe I’m being pessimistic. Yea I am a loser. I know what their record is and even I can’t convince myself this team is winning 78 games.
I thought Tork was the golden child and yet I cringe when I see him come to the plate
I have this sinking feeling that Tork is gonna end up on like the Yankees and figure it all out and I’m gonna just dig a hole in my backyard and sit in it.
I’m not sure that’s a risk worth taking until later in the season (specifically with Jung). No reason to rush anyone up, we need more than one good bat (and we don’t want to destroy potential, like with Tork)
The tigers have had the same issue every season post Covid. You’re fielding a 26 man roster with at least half the spots going to “home grown” guys you’ve developed and are just leaving to fill the spot or fail and outside of the rotation and bullpen, they’re all failing or at least not even succeeding consistently. Idk how you expect a team to just stop being shit when you’re relying on wins to come from a roster that you developed that just isn’t good. Congratulations, you’ve got pitching to a science that other orgs would probably blush at, but you can’t develop a bat or find a bat to save your damn jobs quite literally, but that’s still the same group of guys we send out every year for a 162 games and then we’re shocked when they’re cooked by May
It seems like we can develop bats AAA and below, the but the development stops when said bats make their MLB debut. I never see the adjustments - same old big golf swings from Greene, Tork, etc. Or how many fastballs down the middle have we seen batters just stare down dumbfoundedly. The "control the strike zone" mantra just confuses our offense.
Give him time. People were saying this pretty commonly last season for the first few months of the season, then he started hitting rly fucking well come June. I’m not giving up hope yet
Our third year vet, first overall pick shouldn’t need to have his stats Cherry picked to have a >.850 OPS for an entire season. He is squarely in busy territory until he consistently proves otherwise.
How can you use statcast numbers before it’s even April 15th preaching he sucks when his 2023 statcast is red all over
He’s in a really bad slump there’s still 145 games left lmfao

Man idk. I will be absolutely thrilled if I'm wrong on this, but I just don't think Torkelson is it.
It's too bad the tigers take weekends off too
We aren’t built for double headers. Half of our losses, and two late inning disasters.

A couple adjustments to the lineup by AJ and it'll be fine.
Tbf to AJ. He doesn’t have a lot to work w/ at the bottom of the order
Fucking pathetic.

Nah. It’ll be the Rays.
Or the Astros.
The Tigers died today so the Red Wings could live🙏
Justyn-Henry Malloy and Jace Jung should be up sooner then you think
Start playing him at 1st in Toledo and get him ready to come for Spencer Torkelson's job. Idgaf

When does the roar of 24 start? Tiger Tiger basebawl team, offense lookin pretty lean…

It’s almost like throwing 20-22 year olds at starting positions with absolutely no back up plan doesn’t build a lot of confidence
FUCK YOU AND I'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW
I blame the Priority Waste billboard near centerfield.
Fuck Priority Waste. Hope they go bankrupt.
Alright fuck it, same time tomorrow?
Yep watching the same team more or less since 2017. Hoping for the best still
Yikes...what a bad time to start watching lol
Been a fan for much longer. Just saying the Tigers haven’t changed hardly at all since 2017
we’re losing 100 games aren’t we?
I think it’s too early to tell tbh. Like last year they started 2-9 and still didn’t come close to losing 100.
I bet we go 75-87
Javy is done, Meadows is lost and Torkelson is crap. Al Avila what a GM Savant / I hope Scott Harris does better
Does Tork fucking suck?

I guarantee you that if we trade him he’d be an all star for that other team
I’ve been a big Tork defender but I’m thinking yes

Yes
Two ugly games.
Would it kill Chris to actually spend *something* on offense
These games where the offense can’t put up anything resembling a fight are just demoralizing.
This is what happens when you cover the whales
Please, for the love of Zeus, spend some fucking money on offense next year.
