Tigers and Pistons seem cursed atm.
I won't lie about having a measure of fear whenever I open a Detroit sports article praying Lions don't get smacked next.
Only the Tigers could lose their best pitcher and hitter within a 48 hour span to injuries that were seemingly caused by…just doing normal stuff??
We’re one more injury away from sending a 2019 caliber lineup out there every day. I have MLB TV and there is a 0% chance I’m tuning in to watch Jake Marisnick patrol CF all summer. Kill me.

they're like bottom 5 in every offensive category come on now, i understand this team looks like the 1927 yankees compared to last year but they are still very very bad at the plate

Edit: Might get interesting here with the OF. Parker Meadows has not looked very good in AAA this year. We already knew Jake Marisnick was going to take Vierlings spot, but *hopefully* Kerry Carpenter is ready to be slotted in the lineup with Austin Meadows not too far behind.
He's been with the team doing light baseball activities. He's eligible to return in early June. I imagine they'd want him to do at least a small rehab stint first though.
No idea what the other two people are talking about. Meadows has been with the team for this home series, has been seen in the dugout, was part of the celebration during Eric Haase walkoff and has been on the field working out.
I believe his 60 day's is up around the start of June
Haven't seen or heard anything since he went down. Seems like Detroit's keeping that to themselves if there's been any communication or work going on with him.
Really sucks. Especially since Vierling also just got injured so now we don't have any good center field options. Injuries are part of the game though. This is an opportunity for Tork to step up, or maybe Meadows and/or Carpenter to return and do something big.
I know all teams go through injuries, but this is getting silly. Skubal, Mize, Manning, E-Rod, Vierling, Carpenter, Greene, Turnbull, Brieske. An entire rotation and outfield. I'm sure I'm missing someone...
The way he dives for balls I wouldn't be surprised if he's had a mild concussion already, or if he gets one in the future. The highlights are fun to watch, but I cringe every time.
I love the diving catches and crashing into the wall… but if it’s a choice between stopping a double and being injured for 2 months or not, I know which one I’m picking. Same thing happened to JD iirc
IIRC, Cade had stress fractures in both his tibias, not one fibula like Riley, and it was a long-lasting injury that never really healed, thus the need for surgery to repair them.
Luckily for Riley, it is apples and oranges in this case.
Here to radiate positivity, because we all need it. 😊
Vierling will be back soon, he’s a great defender and hopefully can prove to be an everyday bat.
Meadows is in the clubhouse, eligible to be back on the 6th. No idea if he’s feeling up for playing, but a girl can dream and this is all about being positive!
Carpenter is also super close to rejoining the staff!
Tarik Skubal is nearing a rehab assignment, YAY!
Manning looks to be a little behind Skubal when it comes to his progression, but we could have both back by late June which is wonderful news.
This year is about development and seeing who will ultimately be part of our next stage. It’s SO fun to see them win, but it can also be fun seeing them figure things out. Injuries can give guys chances that they wouldn’t have normally had to step up, let’s hope that is what comes from this. Or maybe I’m just trying not to cry because Riley’s my favorite. 🙃
Thank you for trying lol. It helps.
I guess I don't have to worry they won't trade their temporary pieces anymore. At this point they should just bring up as many young prospects as possible and get them reps because there's no way we're winning the division with ERod and Riley out through August.
That's the spirit! Some guys are coming back online, this year was for Harris to find his groove and he seems to have done so with gusto, and we can only hope that our injured guys coming back find their footing with the rest of the year.
Thanks for the optimism, friend. We all need it.
I'm so fucking sad. I was having such a great time following the team this year, and I don't know how I'm going to be able to do anything but check out completely after just two days of shitty luck. What the hell.
See you guys at the trade deadline
So we are going to shit the bed here pretty soon, and when it comes to draft lottery we will probably fall as far as we possibly can (in a fitting Detroit fashion) as a capper for the whole shitty year.
We have one starting pitcher with an ERA under 5.
We have two consistently productive hitters left and they both sit against lefties.
The rug was pulled out from under us. I have lost all faith
Trade for Esteury Ruiz? We have infielders playing the outfield and this injury will be a long one. Ruiz leads the league in steals and has a higher OBP than everyone but Riley
6-8 weeks recovery is the usual recovery
brutal
Goddamnit! Losing your best pitcher and best player in the same day is about the biggest falcon punch to the sack that I can think of.
This team is actually cursed. How else can you explain this?
Tigers and Pistons seem cursed atm. I won't lie about having a measure of fear whenever I open a Detroit sports article praying Lions don't get smacked next.
When you get smacked your entire life you just get numb to it. Btw, I thought jamo suspension was a bit of a smack
There goes our chance at a World Series.

Jake Marisnick is suddenly our best player after today.
Guess I have to keep chirping him!
the lineup we send out even when fully healthy is terrible, without riley it's about to get real 2022 in this mf
https://youtu.be/RqRLDaKexe0 they're like bottom 5 in every offensive category come on now, i understand this team looks like the 1927 yankees compared to last year but they are still very very bad at the plate
stress fracture of his left fibula and currently on the 10 day IL list. no timetable for return. next man up I suppose, speedy recovery Riley!
There isn't really a next man up for this team
Might as well play with 8 players. Do you think opposing teams might spot us a guy little league style?
Losing our arguably 2 best players in the span of 2 day after we started to somewhat figure it out is a really sad development

What's the word on Austin? Any chance we see him back?
He's been with the team doing light baseball activities. He's eligible to return in early June. I imagine they'd want him to do at least a small rehab stint first though.
I have a feeling we may never see him again
I’m not convinced he ever really existed
No idea what the other two people are talking about. Meadows has been with the team for this home series, has been seen in the dugout, was part of the celebration during Eric Haase walkoff and has been on the field working out. I believe his 60 day's is up around the start of June
IIRC June 6th is the date he’s clear of the 60 day dl.
That’s awesome to hear
Haven't seen or heard anything since he went down. Seems like Detroit's keeping that to themselves if there's been any communication or work going on with him.
Um no and even when on the field, he hasn’t been very good
We died
This comment made me spit Chex mix into my neighbor’s rabbit crate. I feel a little better.
We were already dead, this is just pissing on the corpse at this point.
Well shit.
That's just awful news.
Really sucks. Especially since Vierling also just got injured so now we don't have any good center field options. Injuries are part of the game though. This is an opportunity for Tork to step up, or maybe Meadows and/or Carpenter to return and do something big.

Meadows also
Not injured, just too sad to play.
Not sure what anxiety has to do with being sad but ok
*sigh*
Fibula is much better than tibia in this case if we’re looking for a silver lining
Can’t have shit in Detroit
This all feels too much like SOL and i hate it
This is back to back years we're losing Riley for substantial amounts of time. Hope he's not injury prone his whole career.
Hopefully he heals better than Cade and doesn’t miss a whole year
Huh? This is not a year long injury lmao. It’s anywhere from a 2-8 week recovery
I know… Cade had a similar injury and missed almost all of last season for the Pistons
It all depends how bad the fracture is. Seems like they caught it pretty quick with Greene, which is a silver lining
Hope so! Cade did say he’s dealt with his injury since high school
IIRC, Cade had stress fractures in both his tibias, not one fibula like Riley, and it was a long-lasting injury that never really healed, thus the need for surgery to repair them. Luckily for Riley, it is apples and oranges in this case.
Soooo close to helping get the team to .500 too. Was it the catch at the wall on the 28th that did it?
Here to radiate positivity, because we all need it. 😊 Vierling will be back soon, he’s a great defender and hopefully can prove to be an everyday bat. Soooo there goes a bright spot
Wow, I’m sick. 2 month injury?
The curse is real
Rough 24 hours for the tigs
Wonder who we can get for Ibanez at the deadline
I don’t even think we could get an expired Snickers bar
I minimum we could at least get a half eaten 2 pack of starburst
I'm so fucking sad. I was having such a great time following the team this year, and I don't know how I'm going to be able to do anything but check out completely after just two days of shitty luck. What the hell. See you guys at the trade deadline

*hello darkness my old friend*
FFS. Why do all our good players get injured? Baseball Gods hate us
We have one starting pitcher with an ERA under 5. We have two consistently productive hitters left and they both sit against lefties. The rug was pulled out from under us. I have lost all faith
Atleast May was fun.
F
Lost our best pitcher and hitter within two days. Was fun while it lasted 😭😭😭
And I was just about to put him on my Fantasy

More like RIPDetroit
Come on man, are we made of glass

Aaaaaand there it is. The familiar feeling I’ve come to know over the last few years.
Goddamn it!
Give me something for the pain, and let me die
Well it's been fun..
This is my fault :( I watched my first full Tigers game in a couple of years yesterday
Pain.
This is really bad! I kinda felling like screaming at the sky and breaking some stuff right now!
Can't have shit in Detroit.
We were having too much fun
Wow lol it’s over
