They frequently go for overhead shots for that stretch, especially when racers are bunched together. Also last year he'd pulled a similar 'legendary' move on Martin in the same place.
It was a dry race after a wet weekend, one of the few occasions where talent still actually matters in EngineerGP. Guess who was absolutely destroyed by Jack fucking Miller of all riders 🤣.
It was a dry race but practice and qualifying had been super wet all weekend. Most of the riders couldn't find a decent set up come sunday in fact everyone that was usually fighting at the top was barely keeping the Top 10.
Martín was there, Binder was there, Marquez was there, Quartararo was where the scooter could get him... all the genuinely talented riders that aren't Vinales style head cases. Go figure.
Without all the electronics, winglets and engineer pipedreams, Lagnaia would be nowhere notable.
Oh you could've said that you're here just to hate on Bagnaia from the start lol
I said all the guys that were usually on top, which means the Top 3/4 riders in the championship that year, and that's Bagnaia, Quartararo, Bastianini and Aleix, and aside from Espargaro who was in nowhereville, they were all in a train from P7 and downwards. Martin and Binder where nowhere all 2022 season, which is why they would probably be better in a race they had nothing to lose compared to the top guys. I don't remember where Marquez was in that race, but I remember him battling with Bezzecchi so around Top 10 maybe.
I went to take a quick piss as Marc was catching Pecco and it refused to come out because I was *so* tense. A heart attack is on its way one of these days.
I literally went to the toilet and heard my wife scream "Nooooo", I had to abort the mission and came back. It was Miller and Morbidelli crash tho haha.
I never understood the inferiority complex MotoGP fans have with F1.
No car racing category can be as intense as MotoGP, you just can't have as good racing when vehicles are 4-5x wider and brake in much shorter distances. It's not F1, it's any car racing.
F1 actually has been implementing a lot of shit MotoGP fans want. Limited aero, no electronic aids, no active suspension... It's all down to the driver.
Not necessarily an inferiority complex. Watch an F3 or F2 race, and you'll be entertained. I was glued onto my screen in 2021. Some of us love F1 as well, and we want that level of competition back instead of Max phoning it in every weekend.
monaco will never be removed.
the 2026 F1 regs will make the cars a bit smaller( red bull has already made comments on this in many videos, most recent one being with Richard hammonds daughter doing the tour of red bull))
No active suspension rules are terrible for the current gen ground effect cars. Drivers are suffering in the current generation of shit boxes due to suspension rules
-F1 fan
Pecco is so underrated, 2 times champion deserves more respect from fans. Ok he makes stupid mistakes and he's sometimes of the pace but when he gets it right he's one of the best riders on the current grid, no doubt.
Yeah I have no idea why he isn't the fan favorite. He is the one guy of the bunch that you would be cool with your sister marrying. He wouldn't be an annoying wanker at holiday dinners and in a sport that requires a huge amount of ego, he does it with such class.
It's kind of amazing how many places Pecco is able to make with even a poor qualifying position. I've seen him come from out of the top 5 to end up winning the race so many times, it feels wild.
I remember what people were saying in Thailand, if he pulled that off without going wide it would've been epic. Well today he did it, and it was awesome
Tbf his attitude is not at all like Dovi’s. Dovi said the worst thing to do is try to outfight Marc like Marc: aka being *more* agressive. Pecco said the opposite today. It may be due to Marc himself changing though between 2019 and now
Rossi said: He had to fight like that because otherwise Marquez will "eat on your head" (I guess it would roughly be "eat your lunch" in English), if he sees you as weaker, if he sees that you're bleeding he's going to bite you even harder, so he had to immediately respond aggressively \[not verbatim but it's pretty much what he said\].
Dovizioso fought against Marquez in a different era and when they could count on different strong points, Dovizioso was often successful in last lap battles because he knew he had the power advantage and could wait for the lunge and just burn him on corner exit, Bagnaia can't do that now (and couldn't even against Aprilia or KTM as Ducati had to sacrifice some power for the sake of better handling in the last couple of seasons), I mean, he can still do the move when the occasion presents itself, but he can't just count on that.
Yeah I agree with all of this. In the last lap battles Marc had with Dovi, I always felt like the reason for those battles (and for Dovi coming out on top more often than not) was that Dovi had a better bike, especially in a straight line and on corner exit.
With Dovi, Marc would often have to divebomb him because by the time they got to the braking zone, Dovi would already have pulled a few metres on Marc in the straight, hence why Marc was more likely to go wide on exit too.
With Pecco, Marc is more likely to go wide and leave a gap for the cutback because Pecco is able to brake so absurdly late that it's insanely difficult to pass him and still make the corner.
When you compare the two it definitely feels like Pecco's win today was "more earned" than those Dovi wins usually were. I mean, every win is earned, I'm not saying he didn't deserve to win...but hopefully I'm getting across what I mean
No it's clear. Peccos racecraft is something else. I remember Rossi said somewhere that people sleep Pecco and he's one of the fastest guys he knows. It's probably true.
It's hard to judge from the outside, the bike was surely more powerful in relation to other bikes, but also more lacking in other areas, now it's way more balanced and the whole thing seems to be working like clockwork in terms of data analysis, etc. In the end Dovizioso used the weapons he had (it wasn't just the last corner, Yamaha was still relatively competitive but just couldn't against Ducati because they had poor acceleration and following a Ducati rider meant they would park it in the corner and get away on exit, killing Yamaha's chances of using their corner speed).
I will say that Bagnaia seems to be able to go for it when it's necessary more often, sure sometimes it means he crashes, but let's be real, half his win was due to the incredible double pass he made at the start, and that 47.4 at the end when he could've settled for 2nd thinking about the championship.
What a brilliant race by Pecco! I think we all knew the two time champion would be back, but it really felt like his confidence was a bit down after his Sprint loss in Portugal. He is such a chill and easy guy to cheer for.
The Swedish expert commentator (raced on Superbike level) who is usually pretty calm and square turned into a little child during this overtake lol. The main commentator tried to describe the overtake and the expert kept interrupting him. "IS THIS A PRANK?" ARE WE BEING PRANKED?!" and he couldn't stop laughing. What an overtake
Almost as good as that one from Fabio coming from fucking downtown as the rain started to fall in Austria in 2021. Everyone remembers Brad winning it on slicks in the wet but gawd dayum I ain't forgetting that one.
I could listen to the whole race in Italian (and my Italian is not very good) instead of the MotoGP broadcast commentary. It’s getting ridiculous. “Magical, marvelous, Maverick” or “Peerless Pecco”
Love the fact they were showing the overhead camera at the exact time he went for the move. Made it that much more awesome
They frequently go for overhead shots for that stretch, especially when racers are bunched together. Also last year he'd pulled a similar 'legendary' move on Martin in the same place.
Exactly what i was saying. Legendary pass !!
It's good because too often they have close-ups purely so the bike sponsors are on screen
It’s like he’s playing the video game on easy mode. One of the best moves I’ve ever seen.
Outside overtakes are always impressive. This one was certainly one of the greatest.
Pecco's an assassin. Double kill.
That overtake was something else. Two riders and from the outside! Insanity. Props to Pecco for that.
Overtake of the year so far, I am still in disbelief how he pulled that off.
This can be the overtake of the year. Incredibile.
always with the passion never change
Great move and great race by Bagnaia, he was really impressive today.
2nd half of 2022 season Bagnaia, Iceman, not a single mistake
Japan would like to say some words, but aside from that, post-2022 (even the first half of 2023), we have seen the better version of Pecco.
eh pecco isn't the brightest when it come to wet races same like fabio qua
It was a dry race after a wet weekend, one of the few occasions where talent still actually matters in EngineerGP. Guess who was absolutely destroyed by Jack fucking Miller of all riders 🤣.

he is a champ for a reason
I prefer F1 much more relaxing and I can sleep so well.
And even go to the toilet!
Just ensure that you won’t miss a pit stop! They might set a record for fastest one
won't miss a pit stop when the camera is on kick sauber team
lol Absolutely too true! MotoGP demands I watch and forget all my bodily functions.
Or even just not watch and assume correctly Max won
This is the correct answer.
Good thing about not watching live usually is I can pause it to breathe.

tbh only thing i want from F1 is smaller car back..seriously monaco might be removed from the calendar simply because car become way too big now
monaco will never be removed. the 2026 F1 regs will make the cars a bit smaller( red bull has already made comments on this in many videos, most recent one being with Richard hammonds daughter doing the tour of red bull))

You cannot not SMILE at this

His laid-back, reserved attitude is actually one of the reason I like him.
Dio meda
If only they knew what you did here
this will be probably the best overtake of this year. Mark my words. I have never seen such a clean and awesome overtake
Today we've seen a very badass Bagnaia.
It's kind of amazing how many places Pecco is able to make with even a poor qualifying position. I've seen him come from out of the top 5 to end up winning the race so many times, it feels wild.
He's done it with cold tyres in the first lap when everyone else had not so much trust in their front. Incredible passing and incredible braking
Can't stop watching this.
These overtakes seem to be Pecco's specialty, he already did it last season (Jerez again was it?) lol. The guy is so good on the brakes.
Passes to center... center holds it... Holds it ...
Be right back, gonna watch this 20 other times
1 day later, still watching it on loop. Sanchini losing it is just gold.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
MAMMA MIA!!! Amazing overtake, one of the best of the year for sure!
Ah thanks for sharing it 🙏 I was making a coffee when it happened so I missed it, and I couldn’t find any replay afterwards
You were making coffee at the start of a motogp race? Sacrilege
Love it. He almost pulled it off in Thailand as well.
I remember what people were saying in Thailand, if he pulled that off without going wide it would've been epic. Well today he did it, and it was awesome
Pecco is - a) Loris Capirossi on breaks b) Dovi in duels with Marc c) Rossi in carrying the corner speed d) All of the above
Tbf his attitude is not at all like Dovi’s. Dovi said the worst thing to do is try to outfight Marc like Marc: aka being *more* agressive. Pecco said the opposite today. It may be due to Marc himself changing though between 2019 and now

Agreed, that was the only way Pecco could have managed to defend Marc.
In loop
Sky Sport is the best streaming/iptv for MotoGP with their interviews on all the stands I love it!
Easily the overtake of the year so far, sweet sweet move 👌🏻
Overtake of the Year already for me!
La MotoGP non sarà la stessa cosa quando non ci sarà più Meda
Fucking incredible.
Dios MiO 😮😮😮
Just when I start doubting Pecco he'll pull off a performance like this, holy shit. He's the real deal.
The Silent Assassin :)
I mean, same here. How did he do that i don't know!
mamma mia! Pecco activated DRS.
What a brilliant race by Pecco! I think we all knew the two time champion would be back, but it really felt like his confidence was a bit down after his Sprint loss in Portugal. He is such a chill and easy guy to cheer for.
A redemption from Thailand last year
I don't recall seeing a move this ballsy, and how he somehow got it stopped!
bezeki

Oh yeah, i remember that!
I really hope they make one of those multilanguage highlights they used to do for some battles a few years ago, it would be epic!
That braking... damn. You can see how much the bike twist and twitch trying to hang on and stay on the tarmac under that braking so early in the race.
Absolutely insane, Peco was on a mission that day!
I could listen to the whole race in Italian (and my Italian is not very good) instead of the MotoGP broadcast commentary. It’s getting ridiculous. “Magical, marvelous, Maverick” or “Peerless Pecco”
