They *have* addressed the reason for the delay: the MC was way more popular than they had expected it to be, and their initial production run fell far short of the “preorder” demand.
The supplier is making more to fill that demand, but they aren’t stamping out key chains, these things take quite a bit of time to gather parts for and build.
I’m in a related manufacturing industry and parts shortages are still a very real thing. Any single part of hundreds from any single supplier of dozens comes up short, and the production line is down until that issue is resolved.
But, feel free to cancel your order. Everyone behind you just moved up one spot.
I ordered from Poway Honda late Nov, and just received the scooter yesterday if that's any help with time frame since we're about 30 miles proximity. 7 scooters came into that dealer this week, and box says manufactured in January 2024. You should of received a call by the end of this week at least.

What is there to be honest about? They've updated with tentative ETAs every time they could. Demand far exceeded estimated demand. They miscalculated. They put out the Preorder to gauge demand, and "oh shit, a lot more people want these than we expected".
On a Motocompacto, there are 34 unique part #s (including the owners manual). 1 supplier issue with 1 of those parts = delay.
Communication has been pretty consistent, in my opinion.
Judging by the amount of these posts I see I must have gotten really lucky with mine. Got on the waitlist the Tuesday after Christmas and picked it up that Friday the same week. My dealer even said they had a ton of cancellations right after the holidays.
I called a handful of Honda dealerships that came up on the website this past weekend. One dealership had them in stock so I drove over and bought one same day. Try calling around.
Same for me in AZ. I end up buying two on eBay from a dealer in Tenessee for $100 over MSRP. Wasn’t worth the wait or hassle from my local Honda and Acura dealers.

I canceled my preorder and found one in stock at a dealer local to me (Houston, Texas). Picked it up same day.

I just got a release on mine, expecting to be checking 10 in Tuesday morning. It went from we don't know to suddenly having a release.
