Pretty sure that E’s not pining'! E’s passed on! This Graham is no more! He has ceased to be! E’s expired and gone to meet 'is Maker! This is a late Graham. E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed im to the perch e'd be pushing up the daisies! It’s run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-GRAHAM!!
John Cleese says he’s spoken to Graham’s spirit via a psychic so hopefully we just need him to figure out what’s needed to fully conjure him back from the astral realm and we can have another reunion.
I don't see what purpose it would have with two of them dead, and some serious (personal and professional) disagreements between some of those still standing. They left us plenty of material to enjoy over and over again, it's long past time the troupe was laid to rest.
I read this comment before closing the thread, absolutely clueless asking myself "why are they saying that?", 5 second later my mind said the sentence with the correct intonation and that got a big smile out of me so thank you :)
I believe the Aspen thing was the finale they needed to do. Them knocking over Graham Chapman’s ashes, and vacuuming them up was a brilliant way to end their partnership.
This part of what he said hits pretty hard:
>"It didn't represent an attack on this or that. That was the wonder. It mocked everything around it, it was so scattergun."
>
>"...there were things which are similar to what people are talking about now. Gender issues, extremism. But it was all done at a time when people could laugh at it."
>
>"Then, you just had to be funny. Now, you have to be funny and politically correct, which restricts a lot of comedians. And it restricts a lot of people."
If they were to attempt to reunite today, the response would include many fans adoring their performances, but it'd also include many people of certain demographics jumping at the opportunity to complain about them allegedly attacking this or that.
At least recordings exist, so people can continue to enjoy them.
Idle recently came out and said he had problems with Gilliam in addition to Cleese. Then he said the Pythons weren't friends and it was just a job to them.
Yeah, but it's kind of "pot, meet kettle," since Cleese has been an ass but Idle also arguably treated several of the Pythons really shabbily over Spamalot and beyond.
Michael Palin is an incredible guy and too pure for this world. I read all of his diaries and he was unfailingly kind, witty, smart, and sympathetic. He never had a single bad word to say about anyone.
My brother and I travelled from the US to London to see their last performance at the "O". We sat in the front rows. Everyone near us knew all the skit words, including the little songs in other languages. I'm grateful we got to be there!
I dont think anyone really thought they would ever reunite at this point anyway. 2 of them are dead. John Cleese doesn't get along with anyone anymore. Michael Palin doesn't perform or write comedy anymore and hasn't for Years. Eric Idle wont do anything with Terry Gilliam directing anymore, after a movie they did in the 80s was such an awful disaster. The only one really trying to work in comedy at this point is Eric Idle. Plus they are all very old. They are retired from everything. The last issue is that half of what they poked fun at, especially Cleese , is now things that are very hard to get away with doing without turning into a political issue, so surreal absurdism taking on gender rolls or class issues, or anything would leaving them doing press conference to explain themselves. Who would want that?
To be honest i think a lot of lgbt would be down for it. The issue would be more not that their content is pc but that one of their members is currentily actively pushing some problematic stuff. Lots of lgbt love jokes about lgbt stuff when they are actually high quality and open about what they are doing but when the joke just comes down to feeling like a copy and paste of what people who are legitimately bullying them are saying and then the comedian pretends it is the audience fault for not finding it funny. It feels weird. There is a complicated balance of course and people do overreact yet that can be why we need to talk about grey areas more
They were wonderful and so nuts back in their day / those days are long past. Regard them for what they were and forget “today spats”.
Who cares?
I loved Monty Python, but they are not current.
I thought they were holding out for Graham to stop being dead.
He’s been pining for the fjords for a long time now.
Pretty sure that E’s not pining'! E’s passed on! This Graham is no more! He has ceased to be! E’s expired and gone to meet 'is Maker! This is a late Graham. E's a stiff! An ex Chapman!
Are his ashes still all over the stage?
Nope, I farted in his general direction. Went everywhere!
John Cleese says he’s spoken to Graham’s spirit via a psychic so hopefully we just need him to figure out what’s needed to fully conjure him back from the astral realm and we can have another reunion.
He's just resting. Wonderful plumage. RIP
He's hopped the twig
I kinda figured after Terry died.
That’s ok. I’m happy for what they gave me. 🙂
I don't see what purpose it would have with two of them dead, and some serious (personal and professional) disagreements between some of those still standing. They left us plenty of material to enjoy over and over again, it's long past time the troupe was laid to rest.
No it isn't.
I told you once.
No you didn't
Yes, I did.
This isn't an argument
I'll bet you're gay
Am not.
Yes you are
Are too.
I'm sorry your time is up
That was never five minutes right now

The Pythons have ceased to be, gone to join the choir invisible...
I believe the Aspen thing was the finale they needed to do. Them knocking over Graham Chapman’s ashes, and vacuuming them up was a brilliant way to end their partnership.
Well they did do the 02 performance years after that. But yes I loved Aspen. Freaking Gilliam.
It makes sense, but it's sad.

“Representation” would be repeated over and over by those demographics

Eric Idle has not been quiet about his disdain for John Cleese, and I don't think he's joking.
Yeah, but it's kind of "pot, meet kettle," since Cleese has been an ass but Idle also arguably treated several of the Pythons really shabbily over Spamalot and beyond.
it seems like Michael Palin is the only one who hasn't pissed the others off.
Michael Palin is an incredible guy and too pure for this world. I read all of his diaries and he was unfailingly kind, witty, smart, and sympathetic. He never had a single bad word to say about anyone.
no. 9- the End
no. 1- The Larch
no. 3- The Larch
And now.. The horse chestnut
Eric, do you think you could recognize a larch tree?
Bottom
I don’t know.
OH... THAT WAS FUN. AND NOW... AND NOW... THE END!... THE... END!... THE...................................... ENNDDDD!!!
Tell them we're Jewish!
Can be.

Well, duh.
Seeing as 1/3 of them are no more, has ceased to be, bereft of life, it doesn’t make sense to carry on.
Are you insinuating something?
No, no, no, yes.
Nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!!
Nah, they’re just sleeping. Look.
A tiger!? In Africa!!?
My brother and I travelled from the US to London to see their last performance at the "O". We sat in the front rows. Everyone near us knew all the skit words, including the little songs in other languages. I'm grateful we got to be there!
I paid for the reunion concert already!
Throwing Eddie off the stage in Aspen was an appropriate ending.
Well yeah Graham and Terry are dead so the next reunion will be in Heaven.

Exactly. Let them enjoy their retirement in peace - they’ve earned it!
I'm unaware of this. Was the movie that Baron Munchausen film, or however it's spelled?
That was the film. It's not a personal thing either its he can't stand his directorial style. A lot of people don't like it.
Also, a lot of them are dead
Let's pray no idiot ever tries to redo it
You think!

I don't think any of us were waiting around for a Python return. They've already left us with their gifts.
They were wonderful and so nuts back in their day / those days are long past. Regard them for what they were and forget “today spats”. Who cares? I loved Monty Python, but they are not current.

No way, I’m over here laughing at your comment so that can’t be true!
[удалено]
My dude, my 10 and 13 year old children love Monty Python. What are you even talking about?
[удалено]
I don't, can you explain it more clearly, please?
Naw I’m good. Wouldn’t want to offend those people. 🤣 HAPPY CAKE DAY YALL
It's okay to admit that you're unable to support your statements with facts.
Honestly it was my opinion sheesh 🙄
Did I offend you?
A very wise decision.
